Versa not getting notifications from Signal app

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I'm using a Versa with an Android phone. The phone OS, app version, and f/w versions are all current.

Most notifications work: MS Outlook, phone calls, Slack, but nothing from Signal. I've configured the Fitbit app to use Signal for text messages - the choices were the built-in Messages app or Signal - but inbound Signal messages don't notify on the watch.

Has anyone sorted this or anything similar out?

@benshemuel Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I hope you're doing well! Not sure why this is happening but you can try refreshing the link between both your phone and your Versa by going to the bluetooth settings area on your phone and removing all devices listed there (not only the Versa). Restart your phone and then restart your Versa by doing the following:

1.- Press and hold the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds.
2.- Let go of the buttons.
3.- If your Fitbit watch doesn't work normally, use the instructions in How do I turn off my Fitbit device? to turn your watch off and on again.

Check that the Fitbit app is up to date and that it has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions). After this sync your tracker again with the app and enable notifications again.

Let me know how it goes!

Nope, I did that before I asked for help. To repeat, this isn't likely to
be a generic connectivity issue: the watch gets all notifications except
those from Signal.

I'm having this issue too. I get notifications from whatsapp but not signal. Signal is currently registered as my SMS app, and is enabled for notifications in the app list as well as one level up in the menus, as the SMS app.

It's funny that Fitbit support actually reply to this without answering your question. I received a reply to this same question on Twitter where they state that Signal notifications (for some reason) aren't supported.

The link in the messages is to the feature request: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Supporting-Signal-App/idi-p/2549538

I really don't understand why the Fitbit app even gives the option of selecting Signal as your primary messaging app when it isn't supported. I'm starting to get really annoyed that I'm missing these notifications, especially since notifications from everything else is working fine. (Oh, and LOL at the fact that they even suggest just using the standard SMS app...)

I got a message from them saying that they're working on it, and it will be
fixed in an upcoming release.

They're completely unwilling to suggest when they'll have it done. If they don't have any confidence in their ability to resolve this in a defined time, why would I?

I'm pretty sure my Versa is going back to REI.

Well as far as I know they update the android app every week I want to say?
Dunno, I'll check back then.

Hello everyone! The latest version of the Fitbit app for Android (version 2.73) has been released. This update should help resolve the issues with the Signal and Message+ apps so please update it and see if this works. It wouldn't hurt if you restart your phone and your Versa as previously explained.

Keep me posted!

Hi Alvaro,

I have the same problem - message notifications from the Signal app do not appear on my Fitbit Alta HR. The only difference is that I use the iOS app. I have the latest app, have unpaired and re-paired, and restarted the Alta HR. None of these worked.

Will you please advise? Thanks!

I'm having issues with all notifications.  I've had my versa a week and I keep having to turn my phone off and on supposingly to link the tracker for notifications ... I get a few and then nothing again.  I was so excited to have this watch but now I'm getting extremely frustrated

Very recently, my Versa stopped receiving my Signal text messages. Messages through WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger are coming through just fine. Has anyone else had recent issues with Signal?

I am having this exact same issue. Vibrates for incoming calls but not from fb messenger or signal. I have tried all of the other troubleshooting steps in this forum.

I was never able to fix the issue, since my post above.

Can confirm, Signal notifications have stopped working like a week ago. Might be their latest update 4.53.7 from January 17th that has broken it again.

Same issue. Messages stopped on Jan. 25.  Although when I get a picture message, the alert comes through
