again another night with out sleep stages... i tried the versa about 2"-3" up my arm, on the inside tight enough that when i took my watch off for the shower this morning, i could clearly see where the watch rested all night, and still no luck, did a complete power cycle last night, did the whole blue tooth disconnect thing this morning before syncing, this whole thing is turning into a circus. I might as well stand on my head, and scratch my belly, and i still wouldn't get sleep stages to log... Just kidding of course. and just to be clear, my watch is loging that i am sleeping, and that i have restless periods (very minor) just not getting the indepth sleep stage reports.

Tryingto get some photos/screen shots, and not able to get them posted here...

I bought a new Versa SE earlier this week and so far I haven't gotten the detailed sleep logging to work. The app is telling me it couldn't get a consistent heart rate, but I make sure it was tight enough and high enough above my wrist. I also do see a heart rate recorded throughout the night, so it doesn't appear like that is an issue.

It's a bit disheartening considering this is my first experience with Fitbit and the sleep data is one of the reasons why I bought it.

Welcome to Versa World.  Your experience mirrored my earlier issues with Versa and sleep logging.  It worked for a week or so and then quit.  What has worked for me to make sleep tracking work on the Versa is to use a wristband (the top of a cut-off sock for me) at night over the Versa and a few inches on either side.  It was @hoofbeats95 idea and its been the ticket for me, although not all who've tried it have been successful.  Read other posts about this.  Good luck.

What did you rest, just the basic reset, holding left and bottom right button reset, or a factory reset?

I'm having the same issue, sometimes it'll track basic sleep, sometimes detailed, sometimes none. I've had my Versa for a week (3 Aug). I've received 2 days of basic sleep (both over 6 hours), 2 days of detailed sleep and 3 days no sleep recorded at all. I haven't worn my device any differently between days. Out of the two days  I was given detailed stats, it took HOURS for it to transfer (if not right before bed) to my Fitbit App itself. Everything else syncs fine.

Hi everyone. Sorry to hear that the lack of sleep stages is still affecting several of you. Make sure you check the suggestions my dear friend @HeydyF shared here and here. Still thank you for your patience on this matter and for your cooperation.

Also happy to read some reports that the restart has helped some of you get the Sleep stages back on your sleep logs. Thank you for letting us know as this may help other members in the same situation.

I'll be around!

Thank you for recognizing that many of us Versa users have been having major problems with the Versa not logging/tracking sleep stages.  Your comments are generic and tend towards the patronizing side, however, especially since they lack any mention of Fitbit attempting to fix the problem.  But maybe they can't because the Versa appears to have a design flaw - one weak light-emitting diode (probably to preserve battery life) as contrasted with the two light diodes on the other Fitbits whose owners seem to have little issues with sleep stage reporting.  The restart option referred to only seems to work if the Versa shows no information about sleep at all, no sleep stages, no total hours, nothing.  When that happens, a restart/reboot of the Versa brings back such sleep information as the Versa has collected overnight.  If it gives general sleep information, however, rather than sleep stages after the morning synch, then the reboot of the Versa is useless as an attempt to show sleep stages.  The only thing I've found to fairly reliably provide sleep stage reports is the idea from @hoofbeats95 to wear a wristband over the Versa at night.  It apparently works because it keeps the Versa from sliding around on the wrist.  But unless I've taken off my Versa, having worn it all day, and wash and dry both my wrist and the Versa before putting it back on with the wristband, then even the wristband doesn't help.  The Versa is a great watch otherwise, tracks heart rate and distance moved during exercise reliably, gives helpful nudges and tips during the day, and helpful info on calorie intake and burning, and is just fun to wear.  All except for sleep stage tracking which is one of its major selling points.  No more talk about "patience" and "cooperation".  Fitbit needs to come out with a firmware fix or a redisigned Versa that reliably provides sleep stage tracking.

I appreciate your recognizing that many of us Versa users are having real ongoing problems with our Versas not logging sleep stages at all or not consistently.  I do not, however, appreciate your shutting down/removing my post today responding to your comments, so I’m reposting this for the benefit of those having this same issue with failed sleep stage reporting with the Versa.  I wasn’t aware until now that Fitbit moderators have censorship rights.  As I said in my earlier and now vanished post, your comments strike me as condescending and glib and fail to provide any sense that Fitbit is actively trying to resolve this serious issue. Perhaps that’s because they can’t because of poor product design – the Versa has only one small – and apparently weak – green light producing diode whereas other Fitbit devices with heart rate sensors have two green light diodes, the reason being perhaps that battery life was given priority over sleep stage reporting reliability in the Versa.  The comment that restarting/rebooting the Versa restores a missing sleep stage report, in my experience, only works when there is no sleep information appearing at all after syncing in the morning – no stages, no sleep quantities, nothing.  Then rebooting the Versa seems to bring back a sleep stage report.  The only thing that has worked for me to get fairly reliable sleep stage reports in the morning from the Versa is to use the smart idea originated by @hoofbeats95 to put a wristband over the Versa during the night.  That seems to work apparently because it keeps the Versa from moving around on the wrist.   The Versa in every other respect is a wonderful device with accurate heart rate/distance traveled reporting during exercise, useful tips about moving around, calorie input/output counting, and is just fun to use.  All except for sleep stage reporting, which was supposed to be a big selling point for the Versa.

THANK YOU! I've been trying everything. Nowhere does it say anything about check the heart rate setting. Apparently while grandchildren play with my wrist it had been turned off. Hopefully tonight I'll get stages

Please ask FitBit to add "check heart rate setting" to possible reasons for not getting sleep stages.

Hi there.

I have been a fitbit user since the Flex days.  I loved my versa up until about 10 days ago.  I no longer get sleep stages at all.  I have reset it, cleaned the sensors, tried two or three different wrist positions and still nothing.  I uninstalled and reinstalled everything and still nothing.  I am a chronic insomniac and the sleep stages are vital to both me and my Dr.  I am also frustrated with the generic cut and paste responses that are directly from our fitbits themselves.  I am hoping that someone can help me figure out how to get them back.  They were working like a champ until 9/5 and then they just stopped.  One weird thing I noticed too, is that last night I went to bed about 10.  My versa this morning only shows sleep tracked from 1:52 am on which is not correct at all.  I did not get this throught Fitbit.com but as a gift from my Sister through either QVC or Amazon.  I am hoping that some could run diagnostics etc and then if something is wrong do the right thing and send me a replacement if needed.  I have been a loyal Fitbit person since May 27th, 2010.  I am over frustrated with this and consider myself pretty technical.  Can someone help?

I wish they would offer a replacement. My Versa has never kept accurate sleep measurements, if at all.

I gave up and am using my charge 2. It isn't perfect, but does much better than the Versa. I do miss all the extra notifications though.

My FITBIT stopped syncing at about the same time.  I am fine with reading data off my wrist but I can’t even get the steps to sync. Very disappointing. This is an expensive product to be fraught with so many issues. I kinda wonder if there was a software update we don’t know about which induced new problems. Never had any issues with my old Fitbit. I have been down the same rabbit hole, resetting, making sure all Bluetooth is off, etc.
