Versa not syncing

I bought my gf a fitbit versa-lite and for the first couple of days it worked great.  Now it won't sync with her iPhone and the it's losing time each day.  We've tried resetting it and re-adding the the bluetooth and all that happens is saying it's syncing but it take so long.  How can we correct this?
