Versa not updating or syncing correctly.

I am extremely disappointed in this device. It cost a lot of money and it rarely syncs anymore. No matter what I do it will randomly sync about every two or three weeks. I don't get any notifications and there are never any real time updates on my stats .I have an update that had been pending for months but since it won't even sync when I restart the device and the app so I will never get the update .I am looking for a  newer device with more options and I had at one time considered the Charge 3 but now I will be shopping for a different brand .

Mine will not sync unless I place it on my wifi router, then open the Fitbit app, and click wifi settings, then the watch face shows a WiFi symbol, then it syncs. If I am away from my router, it won't sync and says it's having Bluetooth issues. It's a pain, but maybe try that. Good luck

Thank you.  I'll try that.  What a sad state of affairs with what this cost. It USED to find the wifi without being on top of the router.

Hello @BarbieQ99 and @Billversa I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community. 🙂

@BarbieQ99 I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. @Billversa thanks for taking the time to share some troubleshooting steps in order to help @BarbieQ99

Note that the syncing issue might be related to the pending firmware update on your Versa. Now, if you're still having trouble updating it after followign @Billversa's instructions, check the following:

If you've never connected your watch to WiFi, see How do I connect my Fitbit watch to Wi-Fi?. If your Versa is having trouble updating with WiFi, please try the following:

  1. Make sure your watch is connected to the Wi-Fi network you want to use.
  2. Move your watch closer to your router.
  3. Make sure your router is connected to the internet.
  4. Restart your watch by holding the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo.
  5. Try again to update your watch.

If the update fails, restart your mobile device and try to update again. If your Versa can't update over WiFi follow the on-screen instructions in the Fitbit app to update your watch over Bluetooth instead. Note that firmware updates over Bluetooth may take significantly longer to complete. If the Versa is having trouble updating through Bluetooth try the following:

  1. Try turning Bluetooth on and off on your phone.
  2. Restart your watch by holding the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo.
  3. Try again to update your watch.
  4. Restart your mobile device and try to update again.

Give these steps a try and if you're still having trouble syncing your Versa after updating it, please let us know.

I have been having this issue for well over a month.  I have done all of the steps multiple times in the hope that I can justify the expense of this device.  I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled.  I have removed the other 3 fitbits that I have - which really makes me angry because I purchased them for different activities - and only had the Versa on there.  I have restarted my phone and the Versa at the same time.  I have stopped the app and restarted it while I restarted the Versa. Nothing workds.  My last sync was March 14 at 6:02am and before that it was several weeks.  None of the "solutions" I've been given have done anything except escalate my frustration.  This is a very expensive watch.  I have wanted to track my sleep for health reasons but because it won't sync I have no idea how I've been sleeping.  I am VERY disillusioned with this brand.  How can you allow all of your faithful customers to keep jumping through hoops for a device that should work without all of this crap?

It bothers me that they offer a 20% discount on a new Fitbit. It should be 60% by now. After having a charge hr, blaze, and two versas. My wife too. Her blaze is still working, but only lasting about 3 days. She got hers about 6 months after mine. So soon I'm sure hers will start failing.

I have an Alta, Flex 2 and Charge 2 in addition to my Versa.  I have only been backing up the Versa with the Charge 2 as they told me that the Versa should be the only tracker on the app.  The Charge 2 syncs with my phone all day the way it should.  The glitch is in the Versa.  My husband ordered me a different brand tracker for my birthday.  I can't wait til it gets here.

Yes you are right, the versa is the problem. Never had any problems with syncing on any other device. I have been looking for a new tracker too. Good luck with your new one. Which brand are you getting. I've been looking at the garmin and the Samsung.

this Fitbit originally did connect to my Wi-Fi. I have used it with Pandora to play music through Bluetooth headphones. No matter what I do it will not sync. The clock is currently running 5 minutes late. you say it won't connect because of the update but I can't get the update because it won't connect. What am I supposed to do? I am very disappointed and unhappy with this. I have three other Fitbit and never had as much trouble as I do with this which is the most expensive. This is ridiculous. the "support" I have received in trying to resolve this error has been disappointing.

I did NOT ask that issue to be resolved.  How can you default to having that box checked??

My husband bought me an iOne watch.  It was much more reasonably priced and I won't be as disappointed if it fails to live up the hype like of the one that cost me just over $200.00.
