I just called tech support and explained that my new Versa is not receiving text messages, calls, etc., from my Samsung S8. He said this is a problem for the last few days. I think I need to return the new Versa unless someone has a suggestion.

A problem like this is usually in the app.
Not knowing what was suggested by support. I'll continue.
Does your phone display notifications while locked?
Is it all notifications, phone calls, messages, email, etc, not being sent to the tracker.
Is notifications turned on? Hold in the left button, then swipe left .
Under the phones settings - apps - Fitbit - permissions - are they all enabled?
Has both the phone and tracker been restarted.
Have you tried to send a test message through the Fitbit app? Versa settings, notifications. hamburger meanie in top right, send test.

Hey @Sue10436, a warm welcome to the Community and @Rich_Laue thanks for stopping by.
I appreciate the efforts in trying to fix this issue and would like to know if you have tried the instructions provided in the help article My Fitbit device isn't receiving notifications from my phone? If you haven't, please check this article and follow the steps there.
I hope this helps, let me know the outcome.

I got a fit bit versa on Xmas. I have S6 and tried everything that was listed previously and the notifications still do not work. Any other suggestion?

Not knowing what you have tried I would first suggest restarting the phone and the Versa.
Make sure that the Versa has it's notifications turned on. Hold in the left button to get to the quick settings.
Now let's check the Fitbit help doc for what settings are needed for your phone.
Do you get notifications on the phone AOD when the phone is locked?

My wife is having this problem with her Fitbit Versa also for the last few weeks. VERY frustrating! I was planning on buying one of these when I replace my current pebble time (which works FINE with all notifications)
Her Versa will receive calls and WhatsApp notifications, but won't get text notifications. When she factory resets, it will work for a couple days and stop. Not reliable at all! She's ready to toss it. Has already started recommending people find another solution for notifications.

@CraigBoudreaux this would be a problem with the phone or the Fitbit app, not the type of tracker.

End result is that text notifications are not working. Other notifications work fine. Don't care if it's the Fitbit app or versa, it doesn't work and is very frustrating.

Has your phone been tested @Chimone and found compatible? This may be why.
First step is to make sure the phone is not in Do Not Disturb mode or both volume and vibration alerts are off.
Second let's make sure that you can read your notification on the standbye or locked screen.
The Fitbit app needs to have permission to run in the background.
Phone settings, Apps, Fitbit, Battery.
While there also disable power management for the Fitbit App.
Now let's go through the setup.

first sentence is not clear and is ambiguous "First step is to make sure the phone is not in Do Not Disturb mode or both volume and vibration alerts are off. "
Phone is not in Do Not Disturb passes test. Do you also mean that volume and vibrations have to be On? If that is what's meant, the watch notifications wouldn't be necessary. Hope you mean only for testing.

On a lot of Android phones, turning the volume and vibrations off will put the phone into its DND mode and therefore will not send notifications out. Without sending notifications, Fitbit will not be able to forward on to the watch.
Yes I mean get notifications working, then once they work you may fine tune your settings.

I just got a versa 2 and I'm having the SAME issue with not receiving text messages! Which is super frustrating considering I upgraded bc I thought it would fix the text notification issues.
I called support and they said it was a KNOWN issue with fitbit's that synch with an iPhone and started with the latest IOS update. He said they don't have a date it will be fixed by but it was being worked on. However, it sounds like this has been an ongoing issue? I was a going to give it a few weeks then return!

Yes @MelaT the ongoing issue is that Apple does not want to play nice with their competition. Go figure.

My phone is not on vibrate and all notifications are on etc.. So I don't
know what more to do. I have reset the watch and my phone, double checked
that all notifications settings are on and allowed apps to run in the
background????
Kind Regards,
Chimone

I am having the EXACT problems. My husband and I have done everything recommended to get it work again. It is so frustrating. Something that worked and now doesn't....that is a FitBit problem.
