I just called tech support and explained that my new Versa is not receiving text messages, calls, etc., from my Samsung S8. He said this is a problem for the last few days. I think I need to return the new Versa unless someone has a suggestion.

I doubt they actually fixed it. It probably just started was working temporarily which would happen for me. I was also able to get it working again by rebooting my phone and/or watch. Every fix was only temporary.

I have been a fitbit user for years. I received a new fitbit versa special edition for Christmas. I have followed all troubleshooting directions at least four times. I am not receiving any notifications. I do not receive calls, texts, calendar, nothing. I am so upset. I choose fitbit knowing I could get notifications on it. No one had an answer. They just tell you to follow the troubleshooting directions. I am about ready to return this.

I did some sleuthing after getting a Samsung Galaxy S10+ to replace the S8+ I had been using. I was happy when I started getting email notifications from Outlook on my Versa 2. I then figured out If I have notifications set to sound for my Outlook to on, then notifications for email come in on my Versa 2. If I set them to silent then I don't get the notifications. This is the case even if I have the always vibrate feature enabled in the notifications section on my app. On my Blaze, I got email notifications even if I had them set to silent. Since I don't want my phone to buzz every time I get an email, but do want my Fitbit to notify me, this is a feature that I really liked to have that is no longer working on the Versa 2. I have tried changing the default mail app in notifications to another app and then enabling Outlook notifications under app notifications, but that did not change the result.

Hello,
I have had that same problem too, and I think that the issue is in the Bluetooth connection between your device and your smartwatch.
Here are some suggestions:
Hope for the best!
Happy New Year!

@btschuster yes we are aware that whatever Fitbit looks at doesn't get triggered while the sound is off. On galaxys turning sound off usually puts the app in its Do Not Disturb mode and Fitbit never gets the message. That is why we suggest to leave sound on when troubleshooting.
Glad it is working.

@Rich_Laue email notifications definitely work when I have them set to vibrate on my phone, but on my Blaze they came in even when set to silent. I don't want my phone buzzing all the time, but I do want them to come in on my wrist. Whatever happened between the app and the Versa seems to be a regression.

I wish it was just a matter of silent vs vibrate or something like that but there seem to be multiple issues at play here. Some of us get notifications, but not reliably. The Bluetooth connection is not reliable I think.

We have tried everything and it really doesn't work.
In fact, sometimes we get the notifications, but it stops working. Then we have to restart, cellphone, versa, etc...

Hi,
I think I solved the problem. My wife's phone is a Huawei P30, and I found in another forum that it has battery management that disrupts background applications, and Fitbit's app had automatic battery management enabled.
What I did was move management to manual and it's been working since yesterday.
I think that was the problem.
Here's the link that helped me:

Unfortunately battery management was not the issue on my Pixel 4 XL. The Fitbit app on Android 10 seems to disable battery management itself and it cannot be turned on (which is good). However the issue persists.

@BySchneider see the Fitbit help doc, especially the paragraph for Huawei phones.
What should I know about using the Fitbit app on my Android phone?
@rewen. have you also read How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?
Make sure that your notification volume is on and the phone is not in its Do not disturb mode.
Check your Fitbit app settings under the phone, settings, app, Fitbit,

Done all of that. Doesn't fit the issue. One minute they work, the next they don't. Not on silent. Don't think I'd get a 10 day old notification over and over if that was the case either. Can't NOT run Fitbit in background on Android 10 (app seems to be able to force it to allow to run in the background, using a new API or something). I'm a software developer and have been trying it all. The connection is just unreliable and fwiw it gets worse when in the car when there's a second Bluetooth device.
Already returned the watch.

Came here to say that. Corp IT Professional here and I have tried everything, including factory reset. This is on a Pixel 4 with everything updated.
It works if I mess with bluetooth settings for an hour or more it might work for a day... This Versa was a horrible waste of money.
Bad bluetooth hardware is the single worst offender for any device that uses it.
Did not expect WearOs to actually work better than Fitbit.
