Versa's weather app not updating if app is closed on phone

Anyone else’s weather app doesn’t always sync? If I want an updated weather report, I have to open my Fitbit app, leave it open, turn on blue tooth and location and keep syncing for it to update. It doesn’t update automatically if my Bluetooth and location is just on and the Fitbit app is closed. I find this a bit ridiculous that I have to open up everything, leave it open and wait for it to update. What’s the point of having it on my Versa if I have to open up my phone too? I might as well just get the weather update on the phone. Anyone else has this issue?

I got my Versa yesterday afternoon. I managed to update it (4 hours later) and everything was working, including the weather app. Today when I launch the weather app I get a message to sync the mobile app to update the weather info. I've updated it a gazillion times and nothing changes. I'm trying to remove the app and cannot. Grrrrrrr!

I finally got the weather app to work. I needed to turn on my GPS to get it to update.

@Jayelo @SunsetRunner @MrMold666 Welcome to the Community, it's great to have you here! When using the Weather app you have to leave it open on the Versa then start a sync using your phone or computer and it will load and update your information. Additionally if you have an Android phone you will need to have the bluetooth and Location Services (GPS) to sync your device and enable the always connected option on the Fitbit app. Finally another thing that can help a lot is having the Keep alive widget option (check the image) on this will help the apps on your Versa to update in the background.

Regarding needing to open the app, it will work if it is open in the background on your phone so make sure you aren't force closing it or if you have an app that clears the phone's memory make sure you add the Fitbit app to the exceptions.

@SunsetRunner happy to hear that your Weather app is working after the initial setup the previous day.

You may all want to check the Versa's manual to get familiar with all its features.

Let me know how it goes!

Once I get my replacement Versa (first one wasn't water resistant), I'll try this out.

This is fine if you have Android, but is there a way to keep syncing without reopening the app on iOS?

I've only been able to get the weather app to work once. I can't figure out what I did though.

@Blather Welcome! It's nice to have you on board! This should also work with your iPhone, If I am not mistaken you can keep the app running in the background and choosing the Always Connected option.

@MrMold666 is this happening with the new Versa? If it is have you tried my suggestions with the new device?

I look forward to your reply!

My weather app works on my vera, but it is in fahrenheit, and I need it in Celcius.  How can I change this, I cannot find an option to do this anywhere

I have, but the widget you reference does not exist on iPhones. There is only the "All Day Sync" option, which is on. All other settings that you mention are enabled. And yes, it's a Versa. Thanks!

I've tried all suggestions regarding the weather app. I just don't try and use it anymore. If I could remove it from my Versa, I would. Some how it worked once, but not since.
