Versa stopped syncing after the update

My Versa has been almost impossible to sync since I did the firmware upgrade four days ago. Tech support said they can't help me and referred me to warranty support and of course they told me I am out of warranty and too bad for me.  The tech admited the new firmware update has screwed up sync on a lot of different models. They offered me a discount on the soon to be discontinued devices none of the new devices. My watch is perfectly fine but now they expect me to drop a couple hundred on a dated device that they will screw me on agian. Why don't you just fix your software? Time to take my business somewhere else, better quality equipment and more ethical company.

I would look at the help docs @Joey2525

Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

Best Answer

Yesterday I was told by support they wont work on the sync issue related to the latest firmware release. I have a Versa and told me they couldn't do anything and I would have to work with the warranty group which is a BS cop out. Of course there is no warranty support on my Versa and I was offered a 30% discount on a discontinued Fitbit device. Why would I buy a Versa 2 when I can see from these support boards that Versa 2 is also having issues with latest firmware. The Tech admited the latest firmware has caused issues with many of their devices. Why would I spend my money for such poor product support? My watch is fine and has plenty of life left in it. Fitbit choose to kill it as a way to sell off their stock of discontinued products. Time to move to a more ethical company.

Thanks capt obvious. Everyone knows the steps, they dont work. Force stop turn off blue tooth reset blahs blahs blah. I have been doing that for a year which is also BS. Fix the problem dont make the end user jump through hoops because they wont spend the resources to correct thier issues.

Same thing with me. It won't Auto Sync as it always has in the past. I have to manually sync it to update the weather on my clock face! I spent MUCH time with Customer Service and the guy ended up telling me it was fine because it had synced "3 times" since our conversation. NOT! After I left the call and looked again, it hadn't synced (over an hour later!). I just want the old Auto Sync back!

This happened last year with the Ionic which was much more expensive than the versa 2.. so many people’s ionic basically became bricks

The sync throughout the day is controlled by the Fitbit app. If the tracker syncs when the app is opened, but will not sync with the app closed, it probably means the app is unable to run in the background.

Do you receive notifications?

This happened to my versa lite too. The time is wrong on mine too. Currently running 45mins slow!! All customer services told me to do was to remove my Fitbit from my Bluetooth devices then re add. But now my phone can’t find my device. It’s obviously a issue with the last update so don’t understand why don’t just fix it! So frustrating!!

I’m having the exact problem with my Versa 2. I have tried everything, I wish they would fix this problem.

I think you are right about the app not running the service in the background. Since the app update the all day sync isn't in settings. If that service isn't in there then the app most likely is getting closed by the system.

The ability to turn of all day sync has been removed. So yes you will not be able to disable all day sync.

As for running in the background, the settings will be found on your phone.

@vmarsh removing the tracker from the phones bluetooth does not require the user to re-add the fact is that a user can not add a tracker to the phones bluetooth. Simply open the firbit app and try a sync.
