Versa stopping in the middle of exercise

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've been using my Versa during my weight and interval training.  It keeps stopping part way through.  I'll look at it to check heart rate, or time and it's back to the main clock face without saving anything to that point.

Really like the Versa for lots of reasons, but this is enough to make me send it back and go back to my Blaze...

Ugh!  So frustrating!  I'd not had any problems for quite awhile until this morning!  It quit/restarted in the middle of my HIIT intervals!  I installed the update yesterday and I'm wondering if something glitched!

After uninstalling all unnecessary apps, even ones that came pre-installed (starbucks, spotify, etc), i have not had any issues.  I never did any resets or anything like that.....just uninstalled the junk apps.  I even recently switched to a third party clock face (Jarvis) and still have not had any reboots during exercises.

This has happened to me twice now, first time on a walk then today on a run with battery at 70% ! Very annoying.

Yes! I'd suggest a factory reset on the Versa and completely removing the app from your phone and reinstalling it. I've not had much trouble since I did that. I think it's only happened once!

I've had my Versa stop tracking on 4 out of 11 days of running over the past 24 days. That's not a great success rate.

I've tried rebooting the phone and the watch before going for my run - still failed.

I use Audible on my phone while running and have tried switching by Bluetooth headphones for wired - still failed.

My watch battery level has been between 65% and 100% when starting the run each time.

I've not tried factory resetting my watch but I'd rather not do that unless that is confirmed by Fitbit as the fix.

I have removed a couple of apps from my versa, so far so good, if it happens again I will do a reset 🙂

The exact same thing happed to me. In 5.35 mike walk I only have a map from mike 4.0. I’m not sure if this helps but we did stop for a break at mile 4 and it did pause.

Lost the first 3+ miles of my hike last Sunday. Had to restart the exercise - kept up for the rest of my hike but completely lost the first 2+ hours of a hard hike I really wanted to track. Guess I will have to figure out how to do a reset.

I'm having the same issue with the exercise app.  I've had my Versa since the end of April and the problems just started in the last week.  During both of my runs this week, the exercise app crashed.  I noticed because my versa vibrated and when I looked at it, the watch face was showing and not the exercise app.  I'm going to remove all non-essential apps, change to a fitbit clock face, reboot my versa, and reinstall the app on my phone; one by one between my next runs to see if any of them make a difference.  This doesn't make sense.  It worked for more than a month before I started having the issue this week.

An additional question for this group. When you finish an excessive you receive a recap of your efforts. One of the elements if you are connected to the gps is a night element. How do you review this element (either in the app or on your watch) after you closed out the recap. I’ve looked and see many of the items but not the heights /feet element.

Please let me. Know.

Height? I don't think you can view that in the Fitbit app, but if I look at the activity on fitbit.com I see a graph of the elevation tracked during the run.

I’m sorry I did mean elevation but was not sure if it was officially called that, so I simplified it.

Just as a follow up, I reset my fitbit last night and used the exercise app on treadmill without an issue.  I'll use the exercise app with running this weekend and report back if it crashes during my workout.

To reset your fitbit hold down the left button and the bottom right button until it resets.  One note:  If you use your fitbit alarm, resetting will turn off your alarms.  (found that out this morning).  So double check your alarms are turned back on after a reset.

Following some observations on this forum, I switched my watch face from a custom one to the default Fitbit one. Four days of running were fine, and I thought I'd solved it but it bombed out mid-run again this morning.

Have just factory reset to see if that fixes it... 😞

Unfortunately, my versa crashed in the middle of my run last night.  This was the first time in over a week since I reset my watch, changed to a standard watch face, and removed all non-essential apps.  Very frustrating.  I'm hoping that the latest version of the mobile app will help.  I'm not really looking to reset back to factory defaults.

This has happened to me several times over the last two weeks. It is very frustrating since there are SO many examples of this issue. I scratch my head that there is one reply from a FitBit rep, but she makes absolutely NO REFERENCE to the original problem. A "sorry, we are working on it..." would go a long way with me. I have done a factory reset, and now I am trying to figure out how to remove unnecessary apps. This stopping glitch sounds like it is in the exercise app, though.

So, it's been nearly four weeks since I factory reset my watch. Out of nine days of running, it's crashed out mid-run twice. One time was this morning, and the other was last Thursday.

I'd say it seems to be doing better (crashing less often) but there is still something not quite right about it.

I have been having the same issues everyone else has referenced in this thread.

I'd like to know why this thread has existed since April, and not one person representing Fitbit has offered assistance.  Am I mistaken, and these boards aren't monitored by Fitbit?

This is not an inexpensive device, and shouldn't be having these kinds of glitches.

I'm also frustrated/surprised that there has been no official recognition of this issue given the number of folks that seem to be experiencing this (from this thread and others on the forum).

On a related note, I disabled All-Day Sync (and manually sync instead) and I have not had the device restart during a run since then.

Also, I've not seen any news of any new firmware. It's been a while since the last firmware update and there must be some bug fixes that they really should be pushing out....

Ok, since I turned off all Day sync, it has not crashed out during a run. I’ve run quite a few times and for reasonable distances, so I’m going to take that as the solution.
