Since yesterday my versa keeps switching its self off and only way to turn it back on is by putting it on charge even though it is fully charged (sometimes not even then) I have tried resetting it by pressing hold and bottom button several times but it switches off and nothing happens have to put it back on charge. If I try to do anything on the versa it switch off......any ideas

You need to see if its the display that goes blank or the watch switches off - it may seem the same. You can check sometimes by the lights on the back flashing or not.
If while its on [whilst on the charger] you can try and change the clock face in the Fitbit App to Fitbit Layers, does that resolve the issue?
Another thing to check is for condensation in the little windows on the back back using a magnifying glass.
If found - don't charge it, but let it dry for some days on its left side. It may start to work again but probably unreliably and a short battery life.

Can you try charging, syncing and changing clock face while charging.

Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately it looks like the watch is faulty.
In case there is another option to try first a factory reset [which is a last possibility] isn't recommended as that has a flaw that sometimes kills the watch for sure.
At this point probably best to contact Fitbit Support directly. They may be able to help you.
