This is the last chapter in my versa saga.
I got this as an Xmas 2018 present, didnt work with the phone i had so i upgraded my phone, didnt work for a few months after that (on new phone that was listed in their compatible list), then an app update and it worked so long as the app was always running in the background.. annoyingly battery consuming but at least it worked.
I kept an eye out for updates on this forum and the horror stories of watches or app malfunctioning as consequence of updating put me off updating either app or device.
Fast forward a few months to last week andwatch was working fine; then, came to use it THIS week and the touch screen is not responding.. i tried to restart it and NADA.. begrudgingly updated the app, and no effect.. so far the Versa works to show time and notifications with the app still running in the background.. It still has my morning alarms too as im too scared of factory resetting it for fear of losing the alarms, watchface or notifications.. if i cannot operate it i wont be able to pair it with my phone again..
This watch has sentimental value because of the person that gifted it to me but otherwise i despise the thing..
Other posts here suggest that the only option is to get it repaired under warranty, but mine is a year and 8months old..
Also, other posts have mentioned that factory resetting has not worked for them either.
I feel for the poor souls that fall for the marketing spiel and buy the latest fitbit gadget.. i am switching to another brand, (rhymes with jasmin) one that i used before begging my other half to get me this "thing" as a 2018 xmas gift..
Interestingly, as i was writing this, the android app suddenly showed the "Firmware Update Available" notification; however, i updated and, nothing.
I was temporarily able to scroll up and down right after firmware update only for a few moments to go by and now i cannot even scroll up or down again... i cannot access the Alarms app to check that they are still there.. the app doesnt have a place to set them either..
Its very frustrating.
Stupidly, the week before its decline, I thought i would try fitbit pay but stopped setting it up when i didnt see my bank on the list of "compatible" banks..
I then tried to install a screen flashing app.. I have suspicions about both of these.. if i hadnt gotten "adventurous" and tried t add pay functionallity or apps from within its own Fitbit app store, who knows, maybe i wouldnt be in this situation right now.
What i havent seen on the other "touchscreen no longer responds" posts is if they tried to increase usage of their Versa prior to touchscreen malfunctioning... but who cares, this has been a mess from the get go.
Not sure if anyone has any suggestions as to what i can do to fix the touch screen on my versa but honestly, only keeping it because of sentimetal value.. if anyone i know asks my opinion on fitbit, i will recomend they run for the hillschoose practically ANY other brand.
