Versa touchscreen not very responsive?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Is anyone else finding that the versa touchscreen is not very responsive?

When I tap, I have to make sure that I tap "just right", or the tap does not get registered at all.

This makes interacting with the device quite difficult, especially for tasks such as entering a pin code. (I will not be trying to use the "pay" feature anytime soon.)

Is it just my device?

Hi @lpstar, it is great to see new faces around! Woman Happy Sounds pretty odd that the screen of your Fitbit Versa isn't responding as expected. Let me suggest you something that might fix this issue. Please try to restart your Versa by following these instructions:

  1. Press and hold the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds.
  2. Let go of the buttons.
  3. If your Fitbit Blaze, Fitbit Ionic, or Fitbit Versa doesn't work normally, use the instructions in How do I turn off my Fitbit device? to turn your watch off and on again.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes!

No, it is not just you.  Mine was doing the same, nor was it really working with the flick of the wrist.

I did just have to restart my versa because it was not syncing, so will see how it goes.  Just wanted you to know you are not alone!

Good luck!

Mine works if I tap it three times quickly as opposed to once (to make the clock show up to check time and steps/heart rate).

I just bought my Versa 3 days ago and have immediately experienced the same tap display issue. Sometimes double tap does not work after multiple tries, other times a single tap works and even others the clock is on when I turn my wrist to look at the face. Often wanting to "glance" at the time the failed taps is very annoying.

There was advice regarding the Ionic to space the taps by a half second. I tried this delay of various lengths and still very mixed results.

So in less than a week I've learned I need to disable stairs, steps and fuss with access. When I can return it?

I'll try the reboot suggested but won't hold my breath.

This is ridiculous! I just got mine as a birthday gift on the. 10th and it stopped responding to touch and won't automatically engage when I lift my wrist.

Thanks for this message ... I just tried the 3x tap and it worked - and so does a double tap.

I'm still disappointed that it isn't lighting when I upturn my wrist but I'll get to that next.

Thanks again.

Bring arm up to horizontal as you rotate(twist) arm toward you. Works every time.

Experienced this as well. Especially if you're laying in a bed. The flicking move yields mixed results too. My Pebble 2 was so much more responsive. You guys bought them, can't they fix this for you? smh

EDIT: Just found a solution - don't tap the screen, tap the top of the watch, near the band. Apparently it does not sense tap, it senses vibration. So direct tap to the screen does not produce much vibration, but if you tap on the side, it wakes up always!

I'm actually getting it to work with the flick wrist technique - ie. - palm
facing floor, flick wrist toward me - works like a charm. I'm very happy
with the Versa - it actually exceeded my expectations - although I would
have like to understand this aspect of it through the pamphlet that came
with it.
Thanks!

Hi! This is the 2nd year I have my Fitbit Versa.

on the first year, my Fitbit Versa completely died on me. Since I was under warranty, they sent me a new one.

this 2nd year, my Fitbit versa’s touchscreen is unresponsive. I contacted customer service and they told me to do the factory reset, clock change & reset troubleshoot procedure. None worked. They told me since I’m not under warranty anymore, they could not do anything for me. I just have to replace it.

This was disappointing. It made me believe that Fitbit really has an intended expiration date to force you to buy another one.

Anyway, luckily, I remembered that I had the old defective model from the 1st year. I went to an electronic repair shop. They managed to switch the LCD screens. My Fitbit Versa touchscreen is once again responsive.

Fitbit should give us more options since their items are easily broken:

(1) longer warranty

(2) an official service providor

(3) options to buy spare parts

The option to buy another Fitbit bec it’s broken and no longer under warranty will just make you lose customers. I’d be going with Apple Watch if I didn’t get to fix this. There’s a lot of credit card promos out there so the purchase would be in monthly installments and affordable.

Please step up on your service and item quality!

How can I improve touch screen capabilities?

I just got my Versa 2 yesterday and the screen wouldn’t turn on when I flicked my wrist, or when I touched the screen 9 times out of 10. I’d tap and tap, slow, fast, This was really frustrating. It’s a new device and the screen should be responsive as advertised. I called support and they had me restart it which seems to have fixed the issue but why would a brand new device have this issue to begin with? Is there any sense in exchanging it and hoping the next one doesn’t need to be restarted to get it to work properly? After the restart, it’s now logging phantom steps as I sit on the couch. Really disappointed.
