Does anyone else have a problem with Versa calculating distance - some days I have 2 to 3 km over my distance and today I am showing 2 km under the distance actually done. I am not using GPS just steps times my stride length.

Hello @pmfrew1, I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Please note that Fitbit devices calculate distance by multiplying your walking steps by your walking stride length and multiplying your running steps by your running stride length. We estimate your stride lengths using your height and sex.
At this moment, if you have noticed the distance is getting tracked incorrectly but the steps are still regularly the same, please restart your Versa by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. Then, monitor your Versa for the next few days to check if the issue gets resolved. If not, please reply to me so I can check this further.
Thanks for your patience and understanding, I'll be waiting to hear from you.

Just to let you know this appears to be an intermittent problem.
Everything was fine yesterday but this morning it is giving me too much
distance
4,414steps. Stride length. 78.5cm
Distance should be 3.46m. Versa giving me 4.53km.
Regards

I just got a Versa 4 days ago. I had a Fitbit Charge HR before and it was spot on with steps and calculated distance. I love the Versa, but the distance calculated is WAY off. I verified that my stride is set properly. The steps seem to be quite close on the Versa as well, so it must be in the calculation.
I currently have 11,908 steps, but the distance is only 2.85 miles. It should be 5.86 miles. I calculated this by:
5,280 feet * 2.85 = 15,048 feet. Divide that by the number of steps (11,908) and I get 1.26 feet per stride. that's less than half of the stride I have set in the app.
I called support and opened a case. I now have to wait to hear from them to see what they say. They admitted it was a software issue in the calculation.

I got a versa a couple of weeks ago and the distance is off anywhere from 5-7 km everyday. I had a charge 2 and the distance was consistent everyday.

@INanny good news is it's not your versa this time, it's the software. Bad news is no one knows when Fitbit actually addresses this issue. For now I keep my stride lengths as automatic. Bleh

I have set my stride manually and when I walk it is now very accurate. What I have found and have reported is that when I sit in my rocking recliner and rock, it counts steps, which will really throw off the overall distance over the course of a day..
My Fitbit Charge HR never counted rocking and was extremely accurate all day every day. Different software for the Charge HR vs. the Versa though.

@bobfake try setting Wrist Placement setting to Dominant. This might help.

I am very new to fitbit or any tracker for that matter. This is my first one I received as a gift. Tried it out today. Ran 7km and after it told me I ran 3.25km 😔

And...I was still typing...basically, can anyone tell me how to fix this, or how to work the fitbit. There seems to be a very limited "how to" manual. Or I dont know where to find it. Please help, I would love to use this watch but not if it does not calculate correctly

Hi
Yes would be great to understand why the Fitbit versa records less kilometers runned as well as why Stravia say file is empty when I try to manual import training exercise

Just adding here so that Fitbit see the extent of the problem - my versa consistently under-records distance. I have it in automatic stride length. By my calculation I lose anywhere up to 300m per kilometre most often between 200-250m. It’s very frustrating. I love everything else about my watch but this is a major let down.

I have similar issue, from the beginning of the day it count around 10 km, the stride and steps both are ok. It made this for two days now.

Mine was wildly overestimating the distance, after a sync was randomly adding on an extra 0.3-0.5 of a mile. Fitbit customer service were very good, and after a few tests ordered a replacement, however it has taken so long to be dispatched and when I phoned up to chase they said it could be another 7.10 working days - I think it’s cos they’re having so many returns at the moment. So I’m asking for a refund. It’s a shame because I love the Versa but judging by the messages on this board, there are serious problems with many of them - I may come back to Fitbit in a few years when they have their quality control sorted out.

my versa too is extremely inaccurate. On a 4 mile run, it only counts 3.45 miles. The Ionic was way more accurate.

Hi,
please can I ask does your replacement Fitbit Versa record the correct mileage? I’ve had to get a replacement sent out to me and I’m hoping it works as Fitbit have been giving me trouble shooting for a week and not got anywhere. I’m training for a marathon and need to be able to track my mileage.
thanks
