Versa without smartphone

My Versa HR function no longer works so I will be purchasing a new one. All other functions work. Was thinking of giving my old one to my 86 year old mother who would like to track her steps only but does not own a smartphone. She does not have a smartphone or internet. Will the step function still work without a smartphone?

I should mention that she will also not have a profile. She would use it as a watch and daily monitoring of her steps and distance.

Hi @Ra7 - the old watch, as it is already setup, can work independently, but there are a few issues. 

• The time may become inaccurate after a while.
• If it is linked to your account it will send information to you, so make sure you remove it, as you probably have already
• When charging the time may get updated but without a WiFi connection it profile it won't. 
• No further updates or changes can be done but it should continue to display information based on your settings.
• Make sure she knows how to check the battery level and charge it.

@Ra7 - presumably you turned off/on the heart rate in the watch Settings and restarted the watch before giving up on the heart rate issue.

Yes and thanks. We did some factory resets and updated firmware with Fitbit technical advisor but the little green led at the back was not working any longer. They confirmed it was a hardware issue.
