Versa won't turn on

My Mom had a fitbit versa and about a year ago it just would not turn on. It would show a black screen when you try to turn it on and then it shuts off again. I reset the watch and ... nothing. I was looking for help because I could not find this topic any were else. My Mom had the app but ... she deleted it. I got the app on my phone and when the app looks for the versa it won't show up.

Hi there, @Michaelle666. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that the Versa is still unresponsive. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

As a first approach, please note that sometimes a Fitbit doesn’t seem to be charging when actually the issue is that it has become unresponsive (this can happen if the battery has been allowed to discharge completely). I'd recommend putting it on to charge on a charging wire and outlet known to be working.  Leave it on the charger for a good two hours, even if it doesn’t seem to be charging.

When it has had two hours, try restarting the Versa once again. I would recommend trying this maybe twice in a row if a first try doesn’t work.

If the above doesn't work, please see Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?

Thank you,

I've did that but it did nothing. Now it will not even show a back screen. Do you have any other suggestions? Please let me know.

@Michaelle666 Thanks for following the tips and recommendations I've provided.

As our last resort, I'd recommend performing a factory reset on your Versa. To proceed with this, please follow the steps below in the order listed:

  1. On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. Now please follow the steps to set up your Versa by going here How do I set up my Fitbit device?

For further reference, please note that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account, your applications, alarms, etc. In your case, this shouldn't apply as you mentioned that the Versa hasn't been used for a long time so there's no data to lose.

I have the same problem with my Versa.  It was working fine and then the Fitbit logo appeared and the device just stopped responding (looks dead).  I put it on the charger and left it for several hours, yet nothing has changed.  The app does not sync to it at all.  I tried all of the steps mentioned in this thread and still nothing!  Is this completely dead or is there something else I can try to get this working again?
