Voice Cues Not Going Off During Run

When starting a run from my Versa 2 watch - there are a few issues I've encountered. The automatic lap settings (what does this even mean?) always set at 4 miles? I have to change it to 1 mile every time I start the run app.

Also, the voice cues never go off during the run, the watch just vibrates when I hit my lap (1 mile). I connect my phone to airpods and listen to spotify that I control from my fitbit during the run. I always test the voice cues out from the option in the app and I hear them perfectly on my headphones. I'm starting to think that the only way to hear voice cues is to start the run from the app on the phone which basically makes the watch pointless for a run? Or maybe I have to connect my watch to my airpods but then I won't be able to listen to Spotify? Seems way more confusing than it should be.  glitchy/confusing.

I am having the exact same issue. I’ve just got a Versa 3 and using it with an iPhone 11.

If I start an exercise through the watch. I get no voice cues.
Having read various old posts on here it would seem the only way to get voice cues is if you start an exercise through the phone app. But by doing so means your watch doesn’t start recording. So you can’t glance at it while on your run to see your stats.

This seems to be a very, very poor design flaw from Fitbit, which is why I am now considering returning it.

I just bought the Versa 3 and I can not voice cues to work from the watch either. I use an Android device. This maybe a deal breaker for me. Fitbit is in the same price range as the galaxy watches and does way less. Who stops and looks at their watch when running or hiking to see stats? This should spoken to us through the watch or earbuds.
