My fitbit is not recognizing my exercise.

You mean “auto recognize” the exercise or that when you select an exercise it does not record it?

In the phone app, tap you profile picture, then go to “exercise”. That is where the “auto-recognize” settings are located. Most take 15 minutes to be recognized and will not use the GPS. Personally I have never used this function and always manually select the exercise, so cannot vouch for its accuracy.
