Able to create a custom meal and indicate number of servings

I would really like to be able to build a recipie and then indicate how many servings it makes and how much I ate and see nutritional break down by servings too.  I think it would way easier than trying to enter all ingredients then when its time to eat the leftovers I can just add the recipie serving.

I would love the feature to be able to add a recipe just as it is possible to add custom foods. That way it's just a collection of ingredients and whenever you choose the recipe as the food you want to add it should ask how big a serving size you ate and then calculate how much of every ingredient you had. That would save me a lot of time and frustration 🙂

I agree. Sometimes i eat 1 1/2 portions of a recipie and it takes too long to change all the ingredients individually that I end up not logging my food correctly.

I agree with these suggestions. Being able to import a receipe would be a great feature enhancement!

I saw i can enter a recipe but then it won't let me choose a serving size. even if they let us choose the serving size for a meal that would almost be the same as a recipe builder

Yes, *please* include a recipe feature!

For now, my hack to accomplish this is to put all the recipe ingredients into a "meal." And name the meal also with now many servings it makes. Then I add the meal and go in and adjust all the ingredients manually. It works but its tedius and should be easier.

Please allow us to group ingredients into a recipe. There should be a separate field for how many servings it makes (and/or how much the finished or cooked dish weighs.) Then when we add the recipe to log calories, we should enter number of servings or weight.

This has the benefit of logging all of the nutritional information accurately as well (ie fat, protein, carbs). I prefer not to complicate things by learning My Fitness Pal and then logging things on a separate website. The functionality should be here in Fitbit.

This morning I made a batch of pancakes for the family. I tried using create a meal by entering all the ingredients but when I saved the meal it posted the entire batch to my log! So my recommendation is to add the number of portions the meal consists of to the "create a meal" feature making it easier to calculate calories and such when sharing a homemade meal. Alternatively, perhaps this could be a separate "Create a Recipe" area.

I agree. I'm new and trying to enter home made food is a pain. I would also appreciate being able to list the full nutrient content in the custom foods area. I find that there are things that there isn't a place for.

I completely agree, having just added the UK database (awesome) i was hoping that I could stop using My Fitness Pal finally, however the inability to create meals means i will still need to use MFP

Also a feature to share meals and your food diary should also be an option (as again in MFP)

I agree, I've been logging recipes in myfitnesspal, but I would love to beable to do this all in one app.  A recipe creator and ability to import from web recipe's would be nice.

This feature has been requested many time, but the fitbit web programmers have never responded so far.  All it would take is a drop down menu to specify the number of servings when we create a new meal. Maybe we just need to request it LOUDER.

Hi there,

I often make large meals to last me throughout the week. The system currently supports me creating a meal and logging in the ingredients I use to cook the meal, however when I click the button, it automatically logs the entire meal as having been consumed, rather than me only eating a portion.

For example and simplicity, lets say I create a meal of 6 tomatoes and 6 eggs. When I click the meal option, would it be possible to enter a number, just like when you select serving size. This way, I can type in 1/6 of the meal, thereby saying I've eaten only 1 tomato and 1 egg.

This would be suited for larger meals, split amongst many participants or many days. I could just log the meal's ingredients, and have the dashboard do the division for me.

Thanks!

I agree. Why must I use the old MyFitnessPal in conjunction with my new FitBit? I need to be able to put a recipe in, then say how many servings I ate. And then come back to that recipe again and again to simply log a serving or two. As it is, I have to go to MyFitnessPal. Also, when you do build this onto the FitBit web capabilities, please check out MyFitnessPal. The way they have it set up (recipe builder) is so much easier to use than the current FitBit recipe builder. On MyFitnessPal, you can see what you are doing much easier.

PLEASE. We need this. As it is I have to use MyFitnessPal and then come to FitBit and log it in. Ridiculous. Recipe builder WITH serving options.

I would like to see serving sizes added to meals or create a tab just for adding reciepes, which should also include serving sizes.

I would like the fitbit to register steps for the week starting with your start day of the week.  Not the current way of tracking the last 7 days.

I posted this idea over a year ago and Fitbit emailed asking me what I meant - and a year later and *still* no builder! I am about to stop using Fitbit's food tracker again - In the past I used Calorie Count because I could cut/paste a full recipe into their calculator - name it and log it. Then I had a tab called "my recipes" so if I repeated it - I could just click it and log again. It's so crazy now - I use CC's recipe calculator still - then I have to create a whole new food in fitbit and copy all the nutrition information from CC. I'd prefer to stay with FB and have everything in one place - and I like that FB adjusts calories based on activity levels.

I'd also love to start seeing more nutrition information broken down each day too. I'd like to know how my vitamin levels are etc.

I, too, would love to be able to add my own recipes.  I try not to eat a lot of processed foods.

Yep, I ended up switching from the fitbit app to myfitnesspal; not perfect but its weaknesses are easier and/or less painful (at least for me) to workaround and/or ignore.  I now use the fitbit app only for syncing steps (which myfitnesspal then pulls in) and setting alarms.

I tend to eat pretty much the same thing every morning.   I have flagged those items as favorites.

It would be good if fitbit remembered the portion sizes and when (morning) I usually eat those items so that the drop downs are filled in correctly so I have less clicking involved.

It would be excellent if when I first log in for the day, if I hadn't already entered my breakfast it presented my usual breakfast and asked me if I wanted to log it.

Thanks

Hi there

I agree, I would also like to be able to split meals, in my case a spicey nut mix.

Hey guys,

Maybe this is a function exists and I just haven't figured it out.  I'd like to be able to choose how many servings of a recipe I ate when logging food.  Currently when I add a recipe to my meal log it only allows me to add the entire recipe when the reality is I only ate 1/4 of the entire meal.  Because of this missing component I'm using another app (Lose It) to track calories in and FitBit to track calories out.

Thanks

Matt
