Able to return to previous Fitbit app version

Woke up this morning to your new app. To say the least I am not impressed. It lacks color and is boring and adds nothing new to what was there before. I absolutely hate it. I am a longtime Fitbit user but this might actually change that on next purchase.

Apple is capitalizing on the dissatisfation with fitbit. Here's a link to an Apple article 'How to switch from Fitbit to Apple Watch' published 5 Oct 2023: https://www.macworld.com/article/1787395/how-to-switch-from-fitbit-to-apple-watch.html

You see an improvement in this version? It seems to everyone else a major set back

The YTD Steps & Distance is a plus, but there are many faults.

I have a Daily Step goal set at 12,500 and on Sep 9th it was up to 561,
then the morning this version was appeared without notice. I continue my
step streak but I have to figure it manually.

Furthermore, though I am colorblind, the color on this version is “basic
vanilla” compared to the previous version.

Finally, the prior version the FitBit Community had the ability to arrange
the metric/activity tiles, while this version does not allow the FitBit
Community the aforementioned mentioned ability.

New app is horrendous to read.  You lost a customer since there is no option to revert back

I agree the new app sucks.  Each one seems worse than the previous.  The fact that they took stairs off years ago still annoys me.  I believe with The ugliest clunky watch model maybe you can get it still.  Maybe we should all go back to the old days when we were just healthy and not spend so much time admiring how healthy we think we are!

@Rsoluri The stairs (floors) are still on the app - but if your Fitbit doesn't have an altimeter it won't measure them.  That's why I'm sticking with my Charge 3 as long as it lasts since the Charge 5 and Charge 6 don't have altimeters.

Add me to the list of people who hate this update. I’ve stayed away from the Apple Watch because I was really happy with my Fitbit app and there was no need to switch. Now there is. This update is terrible and offers no motivation to move. It’s basic and boring. I know what I’ll be asking my husband to get me for Christmas.

The last update really degrades Fit Bit - especially the battery life %. The new look appears very "low budget" almost like the Google is trying to screw things up.

The new app is awful. Not user friendly easy to see info. The background is too white. Not sure the burned calories from exercise are accurate. Considering purchasing another product with an app more like the old one. Why change what worked.

It looks like they have made some updates to the update. I’m grateful and I hope they continue to respond to peoples concerns. People complaining helps them determine what’s important.

What changes are you seeing?

  • I hate the new app! I wish that Fitbit would pay attention to the countless dissatisfied customers and go back to the old app or at least redo this downgrade this garbage they forced down our throats.

I don’t see any changes. Still no battery %. Still no Step Streak. Still ugly.

If I could remove this i would. I liked how the old app had all my exercise listed but this has now gone. I used to be able to scroll through weeks and compare at a glance each excersise class i had done and compare my stats and see improvements. Now i have to go in and out of each week. It now just lists the week and tells me 3 excersise types. Ridiculous! I've got 7 years worth of data with fitbit and don't want to start again, but if this app is not improved I will be moving to another brand.

Totally agree. The new user face is dull and harder to read.
I know a lot of people with a Fitbit and not one of them like the new user face, which makes me think that Fitbit did no pilots or gather any user feedback, which is a bit concerning.
if the user face doesn’t improve beyond where it is, I shall be considering another product next.

What updates have they made to the update?

The new app version has just killed my interest in using my fitbit. It's time for another fitness tracker. Hello Apple.

The person who came up with this new app version needs to be fired. They have seriously damaged the integrity of the user experience. I expect to see a lot of second hand fitbits for sale over the next few days, as people give up on it - my fitbit sense will be amongst them. I give up. Time to look for an alternative brand.

I just get angrier every day with this so called update.

I’ve reported that when you look at “more info” after going into a specific health metric, once you come out of that info, there is no back button at the top to get out of that screen. I was told to log out, force quit, shut down phone, etc - it didn’t work. I was asked to provide a video, I had to look up how to do that but I did it. I was asked to provide my email and the OS version on my phone, which I did, and they just came back and told me to log out… force quit… aaaarrrggghh it’s like being in a Kafka novel!!!

I'm going to cast judgement because there are too many failues in the app, its just plains sux

Totally agree with you on your statement comparing this situation to a
Kafka novel.

Yes, this version is bland & basic. It does have a back button & YTD totals
for Steps & Distance. I had asked for those two specific items years ago.
The Fitbit Community received a little, but color, ability to arrange
metric tiles, even to communicate with friends, features were taken away. I
dearly miss my Step Streak notification which stood at 561 days of meeting
my daily which is set at 12,500.

I would be so angry at losing a streak achievement. These apps are supposed to motivate! My daughter has a streak going on something completely different and is prepared to pay £1 if she misses a day to get it back. Please note Fitbit, this is NOT a suggestion, just an indication of how important these personal challenges are.

The more I see and use this app the more I find it unbelievably  bad. This is akin to waking up to a bad dream and finding it is true. Unbelievable because all these processes of development go through so many quality controls etc . How on earth did this get through Google and Fitbit? Such developments make one think of how blindly we assume that everything done by big tech and mega corps is bound to be OK.

I was pretty sure that by now Fitbit would have reverted to the old app while they work on something better - Aesthetically, technically and functionally.

Is Fitbit / Google even paying any attention to these posts? I cannot see any responses from them at all.

I also hate the new layout. The fact that I can’t change it to suit what interests me is really annoying. Hate it and won’t recommend it.
When my Fitbit stops working I will not replace it but go to apple

It's not a simpler design, it's the opposite. Earlier bright colors made the app very readable and accessible, INCLUSIVE (The European Accessibility Act; WCAG compliance requirements). The monotonous color scheme is the worst one your designer could think of, green-brown-red, making it indiscernible for colorblind and visually impaired people.
