Add Interval Training Timer (HIIT) That Buzzes at a Certain Pace

Hello,
I'm excited about the new products. I am a run/walker, and in training for my recent marathon, a friend had a garmin watch that vibrated at certain intervals. (Ex: if I wanted to have a pace of 3min run/1min walk it would vibrate at those intervals to keep me on track).

How about adding an interval timer to the fitbit app that vibrates the surge.

Love doing short 15/20 min High Intendity Interval Training exercise. Struggle to record these. Would love a HIIT option on the list.

I would like to see a feature that would allow the fitbit to vibrate in one minute intervals to support my yoga and plank practice.  Each pose should be held for one minute and I get tired of looking at the second hand of the wall clock.

I have the Surge and love it but I too have been considering the switch to a garmin forerunner to have intervals as an option. For now my Surge is doing the job but if I had to upgrade I would sadly move to Gramin unless a fitbit watch with intervals had been made. I do love my fitbit apart from that!

I agree with your comment about the switch.  It has been a little disappointing.  I made a bad assumption that the Surge would have this feature.

exatly what I would love, we had a timer in my old MMA gym that would be set for 3 minutes of bag work punching/kicking/knee's etc, at the end of the 3 minutes it would set of an alarm, then start a new timer automatically for 1 minute of rest, at the end of the 1 minute it set off an alarm and restarted the 3 minute countdown for as long as you let it go, it was an excellent feature and one I'd love replicated in some form on the Surge

Is already 553 vote for the function but there is still no implmentation on interval training function. Currently using Surge and it is very troublesome without it when doing interval training. With the knoweldge of IT and experience in developing apps, I would really like to know what is the restriction or delay from the fitbit team to implement the function?

I agree. I would like to hear something from Fitbit since this thread is being monitored.

Unfortunately it appears as though Fitbit is placing their priorities on the new product line and profit, not listening to the customers that helped get them to where they are now. Show your loyal customers that you are listening and appreciate our input. I've been a fan for many years but it is discouraging to see the lack of support for your faithful customers. Look at this thread and tell us your listening.

want more evidence they're not listening? Name another major product that lists iPhone simulation mode as their iPad app. I expect I'll switch back to another brand this spring.

Heck, look at the new Garmin Vivosmart HR. Continuous heart rate
monitoring, GPS, interval training support, music controls, better smart
notifications, it even has support for showing the distance to the hole at
golf courses. All of it for the same price as the Surge.

I would also make great use of a programmable interval trainer. I love my surge and would like to program a specific timeframe for when to jog, run and sprint. It would be nice to just have the watch vibrate when i need to shift.

Yes please add this feature.  Hard to beleive it has been requested for 2 years and nothing has happened.

I really hope this feature is coming guys! This would be very good for StartTo5K but also for runners who want to go to the next level! Please start right away building this feature!

It would be nice if fitbit had a feature through the app if we wanted to do an exercise that would be intervals of walking and running. This would be helpful for those who are training for a run. So for example. 3min walk and 30 sec run. The fitbit could have countdown timer on the display and it can vibrate when it's time to switch.

I have to agree. Even just allowing access to the timer while in exercise mode would help.

Can this also be set up so that there is a warm up/cool down time period.  I love my C25k program and HIIT training for both i'd want to customize my interval timer Warm up 5 min, jog 5 min, walk 3 min, jog 5min, walk 3 min, jog 5 min, cool down 5 min.

and it'd be nice to have the ability for it to not always be perfectly repetitive.  I'de definately want to say warm up/cool down 5 min, active 5 min, rest 3 min repeat 3 x, but then for an oddball week (jog 5, walk 1.5, jog 3, walk 1, jog 5, walk 1.5, jog 3, walk 1) i'd want to be able to manually change each interval.

it'd also be awesome to label each interval so that if you're doing HIIT it could say Pushups, Burpees, Lunges, Squats, Wall Sit... etc. just a short word to remid you what you're doing next.

I'd definatly upgrade my Flex to get this.

Another runner chiming in to say an interval timer for run/walk would be a HUGE improvement to the Run Tracking app and/or the Charge HR!

It would also be helpful to be able to access the timer during a workout. For example I can't select that I'm doing a weights session and use the timer for a 1 min break between rounds

I`d love to use a HIIT timer app, with the capacity to monitored the heart rate, and modify the timers of HIGH and LOW interval, i dont know if that is possible into the watch or into the FITBIT app... please think about it 😃

I really enjoy my Blaze for the most part. I am trying to increase fitness and endurance level and would really love to have an option on my Blaze to program walk/run intervals. Currently, I am having to use a separate app on my phone and that gets frustrating and difficult to manage.

*****UPDATE 05-2016***** (PREVIOUS COMMENT BELOW FROM DECEMBER 2015)

We in fact bought a competing product (TomTom Multisport for about $100) so NOT an expensive GPS competitor to Fitbit. The ONLY reason, was so I could have the interval "buzz" training, and I don't want to have to pair it with a phone. When people ask why we chose TomTom over Fitbit - THIS IS THE ONLY reason we give for not buying a Fitbit product (well except my husband adds that he would have bought the fitbit but decided to buy the same one as me). With the announcements of Blaze and Alta I came back to the site because truthfully, I really wish fitbit would come out with the Interval training since the design is so much nicer. Too bad neither has GPS - nor can at lease includes a timed if not distance interval function. The TOMTOM is clunky user experience, but at least they understand we aren't all marathon runners to start and that some of us like an interval train to get us out exercising. I even checked the Surge to see if it had upgraded to the interval option (come on! - couldn't this just be a software update!! It has GPS so you could do both interval distance and interval time training). I am willing to pay the $ 250 for the Surge since the user design looks better, BUT SERIOUSLY THIS ONE MISSING FEATURE CONTINUES to hold me back from the purchase.

****Previous December 2015 Post****

I am joining the community because I have been researching fitbits. As a beginner runner, I really want a fitbit with an interval option-something that can give me the daily activity tracking & interval running.

Whether on the Charge or Surge. My husband and I are researching devices, don't own any currently and the only thing keeping from purchasing any fitbit option is the lack of this ONE feature! We would like to buy whatever devices we get from the same company so that we can sync similarly, use with the same running apps, use with the same scale, etc...

We had the goal to buy them for this Christmas for each other. I keep putting it off because everything about the fitbit is what we both want, except it is missing this ONE feature. It seems to me that it has so many ways to buzz, notify, etc, that the Surge could easily have a simple buzz with "run" "walk" or "slow" "fast" even if they were preprogrammed intervals to choose from it would be worth considering.

I am about to buy another product rather than the fitbit. Just one word that the feature was going to be included in some kind of software update or new device would change my mind and wait for the fitbit!!! When putting out this kind of money, I will unlikely simply get rid of one device for another...and I tend to stick with a company once I buy one product from them. So to me this is a make or break deal for a LONG time.
