Add Interval Training Timer (HIIT) That Buzzes at a Certain Pace

Hello,
I'm excited about the new products. I am a run/walker, and in training for my recent marathon, a friend had a garmin watch that vibrated at certain intervals. (Ex: if I wanted to have a pace of 3min run/1min walk it would vibrate at those intervals to keep me on track).

YEAH I’m doing the same but I cannot  set interval. Am I right ?

By the way thanks for the answer.

No, not preset distinct intervals for one running

It seems like the easiest way to please us all on this topic is to provide just a simple programmable interval timer.  Then each person can set it up to the times they want for what ever task they are doing. Using the tech you have already in the silent alarms and in the stop watch it seems like it wouldn't be a far reach to add this feature to the software. Thank you for your consideration.

I second this suggestion. I was very disappointed after buying my ionic to learn the extremely basic nature of Fitbit's interval trainer. There's not even an option to add a warm-up or cool-down phase for your workout. Please fix that. It's very amateur.

Thanks for sharing @SunsetRunner, interested to see if this is of interest to other community members. It's already garnered quite a few votes! Thanks

I'm switching to a Garmin for this exact reason. Ability to set intervals by distance ie 8x400s is surely a basic requirement for a "smart watch"

Hi everyone, this is being discussed although I do not have a firm commitment or timeline at the moment. Please note that if something is under consideration and chosen for development, it can be a while until it's released or until I have any news to share.

As this comment has been open for a number of years, and there are a lot of mixed comments requesting different things so I wanted to provide a few points of clarity. During this time, we've released interval training with buzzing on-wrist on Fitbit Charge 2 and Fitbit Ionic. Before you start your workout, you can set the length of the intervals and the total number of rounds you want to complete.  Please note that adding this interval training to other devices is not currently planned, including Fitbit Blaze.

I can see in the comments that you also want:

  • The screen to stay on during interval training, which it now does on Fitbit Ionic and likely some future devices
  • Vibration alert for every specific distances - this is possible in cues under your exercise shortcut settings.

You are also asking for customizable fields for rest/move, so some of you might want to vote on this Feature Suggestion asking for a running feature on Ionic (and mobile app) specifying more complex interval training options like:

  • Distance intervals (sprint for 400m, walk 200m)
  • Heart rate based intervals (peak zone, cardio, fat burn etc)
  • Time based intervals (Jog 30 secs, Run 60 secs)

This feature suggestion will remain open and under consideration for a HIIT feature that allows for notifications based on pace. Please be specific in your comments for exactly what you want to see.

Thanks

You’re going to lose all Fitbit users that have blazes. Get your **ahem** together. This is hardly a complicated feature to add.

Kind regards,

Yes but also Charge HR 2 and the others - should be doable via the app...

Hi it would be nice to have a exercise interval timer available in your Fitbit app so you can create an exercise routine and the app can help you maintain this routine.

For example, you could chose 30 sec intervals and 10 sec rest periods of 7 types of exercises for 5 rounds (equal to a 30 min workout). And the app could count down every 3 secs to let you know to either rest or start exercise again.

plus you’re fitbit could know when you’re doing your exercises and monitor your heart rate and maybe even motivate you to go a little harder.

PLEASE add the interval timer to the Blaze (and all fitbits possible)!! Just about everyone agrees these days that HIIT is one of the best kinds of exercise. Why on earth is Fitbit ignoring this fact? Don’t you want your users to see their greatest possible success, and thank YOU for it??

Would love to see interval runs being able to set by distance rather then time. Mayb this could be done in an update! Only feature th Garmin has that I wish Fitbit did . As a new runner this is essential to my training

This would be great. I have to use a different app for interval running which is a shame. I am currently doing 400 meters with a 1 minute rest x 8 intervals, but can't refect this on my ionic.

Is there another app you use on your ionic or just through your phone?

Yes my wife uses a Microsoft band which has interval training on it which we both follow. I just can't transfer it to my Ionic

I have the Blaze and also would love to be able to create timed intervals in the app to buzz at moments to move and moments to rest.  It would be best if we could allow for multiple rounds and various formats that we can design.  Ie longer rest time in first round of intervals, number of repetitions of intervals in each round, various times that may increase or decrease ie. 10 seconds work, 10 sec break, 20 sec work, 10 sex break, 30 sec work, etc that can go up and then decrease in the opposite order on the way back down towards a longer rest.  If this is not an option on the blaze, are there at least other apps that are compatible with Fitbit that would allow it?  I can’t find any myself.  Thank you for your support

Give up hope on that . Fit bit don't care about their existing products or
users.

Runners need the option to see actual time pacing when using the interval option. I train Galloway method, and will be switching to Garmin if no update is provided. Clock is on...
