Add Interval Training Timer (HIIT) That Buzzes at a Certain Pace

Hello,
I'm excited about the new products. I am a run/walker, and in training for my recent marathon, a friend had a garmin watch that vibrated at certain intervals. (Ex: if I wanted to have a pace of 3min run/1min walk it would vibrate at those intervals to keep me on track).

Great idea. I just posted something almost exactly the same!

Great idea. I have suggested this too. Would be easy to have a piece of personalisable software to vibrate at your own intervals. I think it is essential that this be customisable as I use different protocols for different workouts.

Yes great idea! I do HIIT training, and I would like to monitorize with my Fitbit Surge.

There are many posts asking for a programmable interval timer on the SURGE. However how about adding it to the phone app. I have my CHARGE HR on sync when I exercise instead of constantly checking the tiny screen. Just updating the phone app would help everyone who has already purchased a fitbit. Is there any movement on this?

Still really, really, really, really, really need this.  It would be a huge improvement in the Surge for a relatively small software update.

Thanks!

Interval running feature seems to be missing in Surge. I should be able to set up the interval running plan in the mobile app or web, and this can be available on the watch as one of the run style, along with triggers/alerts to indicate the interval changes.

Agreed.

Being able to enter preferred interval times and vibration at time is a great idea

Good idea.

Interval's programmed using the app, with vibration and simple text display to indicate instruction.  Could also have the ability to select pre-programmed interval training plans such as C25K from the app.

Many of your compeditors have this feature and would be awesome to have it here!!

I would like a timer I can program to vibrate or ring at certain intervals over a period of time that I determine also.  It must do so on or off my wrist when turned on.  I just want to be able to do it from the Surge directly.  It's annoying to have to do the majority of things online.

Love this idea - even if they could add it through the track my run app? It could be added to the voice cues.

Add bodypump and HIIT to exercise types.

Looks like we have a timer. Fitbit is it possible to add a setting where we can set the amount of times it repeats instead of having to press go each time? ?

Thanks for the timer!  Now, I really need to be able to set it so it goes off at intervals over a set period of time that I select please.

Yep until then I have a Surge and a Gym Boss, like really? Intervals should be the top of the feature list considering the amount of runners who run not only for the race but for recreation and basic fitness. We can't all run 13 miles non-stop.

A fitness device not supporting intervals is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!!!  I love the surge and it already has the vibrate mode.  How difficult could it be to add intervals.

Yes! I just got the charge HR and was really disappointed to see that I couldn't use it to time my intervals the way my friend can with her Garmin. I have previously used MapMyRun set to tell me each minute, and then just done the maths as I run (walk for one minute, run for three) but FitBit you can't set prompts at any less than two minutes, so I am still having to use MapMyRun. I would love if it would buzz and display "run" and then "walk" according to what I had programmed.

Great idea about tieing in other apps to the Surge so that we can design or customize our own watch face. I was just looking to add the calendar to the flare display on the watch. Anyway please make some progress on these requests. Adding the watch is obviuosly much simpler, but the other makes it a much better product.

Just bought my Surge last week.  It never occured to me to check, first, if it supported interval training.  After all, how could a device advertising itself as a fitness-specialized watch, especially for running, not have this feature?

Frankly I would not have purchased it if I had known it lacked this feature, I may return it, and I will certainly recommend against it to others I run with.

Surely this is something that could be added via a firmware fix, and I see people have been asking for it for years.

I love the 'Countdown Timer', but love it expanded to be tabata / interval tcountdown capable. This would require the iser to be able to set two countdown durations and the number of times to switch between the two durations. It could use the current Countdon timer interface.

Great request @Chuvk! Surely there will be other users supporting this idea. I will send it to our developers so they can take it into consideration. Thank you for posting it!

Any other ideas you might have, feel free to share or vote for them, if it’s already suggested in the Feature Request Forum. Have a great day!
