Add Interval Training Timer (HIIT) That Buzzes at a Certain Pace

Hello,
I'm excited about the new products. I am a run/walker, and in training for my recent marathon, a friend had a garmin watch that vibrated at certain intervals. (Ex: if I wanted to have a pace of 3min run/1min walk it would vibrate at those intervals to keep me on track).

I agree.  My wife loves running but prefers to use an inteval timer to pace her run.

I am a cross country and although most of my running is distance, every Friday, the team does power. Power, is a 100 meter sprint, followed by a 75 meter walk, then a short workout (Mountain Climbers, Burpees, etc.), and finally, under overs using hurdles. I have a surge which tracks the running very well but it does not discriminate between the different workouts I am doing. Also, I do not want to go through the hassle of changing the workout on my surge every few seconds. Therefore, I have one preposition. An easier way to switch from one activity to another, without ending the overall timing of the entire workout. To be clear, I would like to be able to switch the activity during my workout, not later on the app. Please vote and help out all of those who run competitively by making this a new function on the fitbit surge.

Hi,

I purchased the Fitbit surge last week and was told by the shop assistant that it had a feature for interval training however I have since discovered this not to be true.

I wondered whether this could be included in a software update? It could be based on time or speed and the Fitbit could vibrate or chime when a particular preset interval as finished. The settings could be adjusted through the app.

Given high intensity interval training seems all the rage right now I imagine it would be quite a popular upgrade.

I agree that an interval timer on the Surge would be very welcome - ideally, in some way that it can be used in conjunction with the other modes (e.g, Run, Exercise, etc.). Maybe it could be done as an expansion of the existing Timer function? ATM, I guess I'll just have to wear my old Nike watch on my other wrist for this, which seems a bit silly. 😛

It's great that everyone wants a timer. I agree it is important. On December 9th I bought and started to use a Surge. I found the 'timer' function, but there is no alarm! How in the heck can you have a timer... especially an interval timer if there is NO ALARM!

but there is a vibriation and tht is all you need for interval timers, my tom tom has tht and tht works fine. you dont need an actual alarm sound

not having this function actual lets this product down as a running watch, interval runs are crucical to running training plans

I bought my Surge today and am SO disappointed this feature isn't standard. Adding an interval timing would be extremely helpful!

But there's no ability to set an alarm for countdown timer vibrating or audible.

I do totally want Fitbit to add interval timing to their watches! Right now i can set my watch to run 5 min. & it'll beep at me, but then I have to watch it for the next min. while I walk so I know when to start running after that minute is up and so on .........it's very frustrating and cuts into the running and walking routine you're trying to achieve. Please, please, update and add this into the system soon. Others have mentioned other GPS watches have had this feature in their watches for some time already. I really do love my Surge, but I should have searched it more carefully before buying it!!😢

Another vote for an interval timer for HIIT exercise.  Being able to plan out short times [1-2 minutes] for exercises with a 10-30 second break in between would be marvellous.

Perhaps a vibrate option on the watch as each interval is passed?

Many thanks!

I have been a Fitbit user for 4 years and this is the only thing that is prevening me from continuing to be a fitbit user. Just a vibrate similar to the wake up alarm and text that says run or walk or increase / decrease.

That and current pace. I have a Band that seems to be missing the same function. Getting ready to return it. Was looking at Surge and Vivoactive. Surge is missing the training. Vivoactive requires a chest strap for Heart Rate. Band has everything but interval training. This seems like such a simple thing to do yet such a major oversight.

I'd like to be able to add time/distance AND heart rate intervals to the Surge. I really think my training could benefit from this. I know I can simply check the display for my heart rate, but a sound cue would be nice!

Just adding another +1 for this feature request!  I'd love the ability to be able to define intervals based on time and/or HR.  It'd be awesome to be able to create a workout that is strictly time-based, and another that is target HR range-based!

I have been waiting for the interval training option as well.  It seems inaccurate when my workouts are logged as ´walks´, when I switch from walking to running sprints.  I´m tempted to get the new Blaze, but only if it has this option.  I see people have been asking for this for over 2 years.... I hope this is being created!!  Smiley Very Happy

i wouldnt bother getting the blaze it doesnt have gps so its not going to be a running watch...it be absolutely stupid of them to put intervals on a watch that doesnt have gps so isnt a running watch. it also isnt waterproof so another reason its not suitable for running

An interval timer for HIIT and Tabata workouts is essential for me. Please add this function.

I would love to be able to do intervals on the fitbit. That would be the reason for me to upgrade to the Blaze.

does the blaze have an interval timer? even so i would update to it as its got not GPS and isnt waterproof. blaze is a nice looking watch but less of a running watch than the surge

Ok I've heard through the grapevine that the run-walk interval timer is coming soon in the next firmware update of the Surge! Any update on when the new Surge firmware will be available?

They have been saying that it will be in the next update for months now.
They must only have one person writing code on the weekends.
I am going to have to bite the bullet and buy a Garmin.
