Add Interval Training Timer (HIIT) That Buzzes at a Certain Pace

Hello,
I'm excited about the new products. I am a run/walker, and in training for my recent marathon, a friend had a garmin watch that vibrated at certain intervals. (Ex: if I wanted to have a pace of 3min run/1min walk it would vibrate at those intervals to keep me on track).

Hi,

When doing my weekly exercise, i frequently do 1 minute exercises, with a 15 second break. Now i need to have a stopwatch to do so.

My idea:

Integrate the option to vibrate after the predefined timing. example:

go to stopwatch (on your fitbit)

start the exercise.

Vibrate after 1 minute

vibrate after 15 seconds,

..

and again.

If you allow the user to choose on the app if he/she would like a stopwatch or counter, than you have both functionalities.

If you allow the user to insert his preferred timings, he/she can integrate his training scedule.

other example.

5,10,10,10,5 Runner ==> 5min-warmup, 10min-run,-10min-hardrun,10min-run, 5min-cooldown.

kind regards

Peike

1.  It would be nice to have Interval Timer that base on time.  Let say I want to do 20secs of burpee and rest 10 secs.  I want to be able to repeat 8 times.

2.  It would be nice to have an Interval Timer that base on distance.  Let say I want to sprint 100m and walk 100m then sprint 200m and walk 100m and so on....

3.  It would be nice if there is an API for fitbit so that people can add their own feature.  Kind of like what Apple and Google did with the smart phone.

I would love to be able to set an interval time with a short alarm to help with time for holding stretches, etc.

It could be a option in the app to be synced to the fitbit, which allowed me to set the interval every 30 second, 1 min, etc. Would really help alot for us old guy's who's eyes cann't read the dial easily without putting on glasses.

Seems like it would be a fairly simple option.

Thanks

I would also like to see an interval option. I particularly would like to see a HITT interval timer, ex: 30 sec high intensity, 40 sec rest, then back to 30 sec high intensity.... And if you could also make this include running distance, that would be great.

Intervals please!!!!!!! Can't believe it doesn't have this.

Create a program for an interval timer to buzz on set minutes, this would make it 10x better!

It would be nice to be able to log an exercise in my Charge HR as High Intensity Interval Training. I know this is a very popular form of exercise among users. Currently, whenever I do HIIT, I never know what to log it as, some there aren't many options that apply. Please add this exercise to the exercise database.

I am really surprised there is no interval timer built in to all Fitbit products that are capable of vibration notifications. This just seems like a no brainer to me. I do like my Charge HR but the fact that it lacks basic features like this, has me considering purchasing more capable or flexible fitness trackers.

I can understand not being able to program HR notifications easily (which would also be awesome) as the HR monitoring is not perfect especially in the peak zones and rapid increase, but something as simple as an interval timer, it boggles my mind that the devs have not made this happen as the programming would be extremely simple to accomplish.

Considering there has been a suggestion for an interval timer from 2014, I'm not holding my breath..  I just don't understand why they would keep a feature like this out unless it is based on a business decision to roll out features like this on upcoming models so we are tempted to buy new trackers. I can say for myself, that if this is the case, I will be a getting a new tracker but it won't be a Fitbit. Hey, but maybe I'm just missing something with how the software is programmed..

Let's make this happen already! It's long overdue! Please!

I have a Fitbit ChargeHR and have recently started doing circuits at the gym. I do 30 second intervals then rest for 1-2 minutes and repeat. My PT times me, but when I'm on my own, I can't focus on my workout if I'm looking at a timer on my phone. It would be fantastic if I could set my FB to vibrate in a custom program to keep track for me. I'd be happy to upgrade to a newer FB for this functionality, too.

I 2nd this!  It would be nice to be able to program several intervals--so, I don't have to use RunKeeper anymore.

I 2nd this idea!

Please add that feature. I so want to upgrade my Flex but won't until you have this feature.

I've been using a GPS running watch since Garmin came out with their Forerunner.  I *love* my Fitbit surge but am sad that there is no kind of interval beyond the "buzz at 1 mile" (or thing you set).  It seems like it'd be an easy add on the the "lap run" feature they already have enabled on the surge (to "autolap" at predefined times/distances).  Without the autolap in the lap run feature, the lap run is really only good for a track workout.  And isn't the point of having a GPS watch so you can do your speedwork somewhere other than a track???  Why on earth would you have a GPS watch without interval training?

I also feel it's disingenuous to have Ryan and Sara Hall marketing these watches as “what they use to train” because clearly they’re doing intervals and clearly they’re using some other watch instead of or in addition to their Fitbit to do it.

I am actually amazed that there is no HIIT option available when logging exercise, although it does have aerobics (Are people still doing that?). I have the Charge HR, and though it is a good device, the lack of attention to certain things such as lack of HIIT for exercise logging, the lack of HRV (heart rate variability) algorithm, makes it more a tool for couch potatoes just dipping their toe into healthy lifestyles than serious device for longtime and committed health and fitness enthusiasts seeking was to acheive top performance in health and fitness. Why not bring this important elements and have a device that supports the current state of health and fitness?

Totally agree - it's enormously frustrating that HIIT sessions can't be logged.

Definitely need to add High Intensity Interval Training!! I feel like I'm not getting the data I need entered into my log! And since this is now 90% of how I exercise, this feature is desperately needed!

That's it.. HIIT timer. It would be amazing since HIIT is gaining in popularity. And HIIT workouts with instructions on screan would be killer!!

Yes, more complex/programmable tmer options is a must. All I really need is an alert every XX seconds, but it should simple to setup a "prepare, work, rest" cycle that repeats until you're done with the workout... Then HIIT regimens would be covered also.

add this to the Charge HR as well please - not having it is a deal breaker!

I can't help to notice that Garmin's new VivoActive HR (which will go on sale in April) does everything the Fitbit Surge does, but also include INTERVAL TRAINING TIMER.  Now that the competition is offering the same and more features as the Surge does at the same price, will Fitbit finally start recognizing these requests?

I too would like this feature on my FitBit surge.  Would use it often.

I'd like to be able to set repeating timers that vibrate, to use for interval training or yoga etc. So for example a facility to set an alert for every 3 minutes so the wristband vibrates & I know to move on to the next yoga posture or workout (Eg tabata). Option for a rest time in between might also be useful

Completely agree. I brought the blaze yesterday, it was the only thing (that ive found so far) that i was a little disappointed that it didnt have. I do a lot of HIIT training so it would have been very useful.

I agree! I prefer to exercise outdoors without headphones, so I can hear the birds chirping and kids playing... but if I do intervals I have to have headphones in so I can hear the lady on my phone tell me to switch gears. I would be SO happy if I could just set up my fitbit to do that for me!

I absolutely agree that a Run/Walk exercise with user set intervals for each is a must for the Blaze.  You are almost there... just adding this new exercise function would make my training so much easier.

When purchasing a fitness watch, having to use a second device is not part of the plan.  Other devices offer this option, but I truly like Fitbit, Blaze and don't want to modify my routine.  So, please add this function ASAP!
