Add Nordic (pole) Walking

Since I lose 300+ steps and never get an accurate heart rate when pole walking, my main cardio activity, I told it my run stride length was 2.5 feet.  I manually logged a walk and called it "run".  Imagine my surprise when it gave me a heart rate nearer my range of 130-160!  The only problem is my walking stride length is about 2.23 feet, so the mileage would be off.

Therefore we need to be able to set a third algorithm of our choice and also be able, as so many other members have requested, to edit existing workouts.

I am surprised that Nordic walking is not listed as an activity. It uses about 40% more calories than ordinary walking.

I, too, would like the option to add a third measurement for steps when I walk on the treadmill.  When I record that activity as Treadmill, it uses my Walk step measurement.  But, my actual step measurement at 3.5 mph is about halfway between the FitBit Walk and Run step measurement.  So, without a way to set a different step measure for a custom activity, it still records the exercise as much shorter than what I have actually walked.

Can you please add Nordic Walking to the Activities list? It burns way more calories than a simple walk and it's very different from trekking.

To whom it may concern,

Due to inclement weather and all I often use a NordicTrack.

At present I use the treadmill option, and sometimes write over it.

It would be most useful to have NordicTrack as an additional activity.

Thank you in advance for your kind consideration in this matter.

Best regards,

BPC

It would be great if you would add Nordic pole walking to your list of exercises along with cross country skiing, running etc.

BPC, one exercise that is selectable on a Charge 2 is eliptical.  Pretty similar, would that work for you?

Blasko,

Thank you for your input, but do not find the eliptical setting to be enough of the same.

Best regards,

This is an excellent idea @carringtondl! This would make getting steps for this type of exercise way more efficient. In the meantime you can follow these steps to create custom activities.

You have boot camp, workout, and spinning that makes very little sense to have these listed and not to have a very active exercise lIke the Nordiac Track pole walking.  I do not want to manually add these, but if I do then I will use the MyFitness Pal which works better than your manual entries.  I thought Fitbit was a World Class leader in fitness trackers, but I am having second thoughts.

Please Fitbit-

Nordic skating is also red hot now-getting skiers in shape before hitting slopes, I love it because its year round and challanging! Did you also know that people with neurological deaseases can use Nordic Pole Walking to stregthen and create a community  of support. My neighbor is starting a group now! Nordic Walking is a democratic- from kids to super active 20-30 yr olds, Mid life worriers and Seniors alike can all do partisapate at their own fitbess level, solo or with a group!

I certainly hope you can include this important sport to your list. Thank you

I see that people have been asking for an option for Nordic Walking or Urban Poling since 2016 and nothing has been added to the exercise list.  Can you please develop something for this as it is a different and more strenuous exercise to walking.   Thank you
