I have not found a good solution for Cross Country skiing. Seems that fitness trackers over look this activity in general. From my research either a Garmin or an Apple Watch might offer a work around. Am leaning to dropping FitBit and moving to another platform.
Reading through all the comments I think the most dissapointing here is that Fitbit is not responding with any timelines to add this or reasons why it would not be added? It would be good to know where you stand - instead of having to keep asking?
Is it possible to get nordic or cross country skiing added to the charge 2 in a software update? The ski season is 6 months out of the year where I live. I see many other requests of this type. Please count my vote!
Alternatively, I would be happy if there was a setting on the Charge 2 that captured this activity-- any suggestions?
The only way they'll pay attention is if you vote with your product choices... I sold my Charge and switched to Garmin and never looked back. This year I just switched my wife to Garmin as well. They put skiing in as a basic activity on every one of their sport tracker devices. It's absurd. The only thing I can think of is Garmin maybe has a patent on it, but that would seem an easy thing to get around... or FitBit just doesn't care (more likely). I still get notices on this b/c I created the thread, but I got so tired of waiting I moved away.
Voted with my purchasing power yesterday. Moving to another platform. Put my Charge in a drawer and put something else on my wrist. Kinda sad but...#GoodbyeFitBit.
For the price i paid for my ionic and as a snowboard fan it is really dissapointing that there is no snowboarding or skiing exercise feature available. Please add this fitbit.
I am coming back to making an entry for Snowboarding. My Blaze can work with Exercise, or with Hike, but the caloric value for these are not the same as for Snowboarding.
Please get some data from Snowboard professionals how much energy is spend by a snowboarder each hour , going strong and going up the mountain all the time.
Then add Snowboarding to a separate setting for exercise, just as you have done for Skiing.
Where are we at with a separate snowboarding fix? Are we close to acquiring this? I’m heading out to South Korea soon with Team GB and will be snowboarding everyday. This would be a huge advantage thanks
PS, I'm now using Cyclemeter on my phone and syncing it via MyFitnnessPal to Fitbit. It shows the activity along with heart rate info in the dashboard but I have to use another app to see the GPS.
Ditto, please add skiing/snowboarding GPS activity to the Ionic. I've voted on the suggestion in this thread and several others. Fitbit mgmt, can you respond?
