Add a "Find my phone" app in the Fitbit App Gallery

We all misplace our phones from time to time. Since there is Bluetooth connection, it should be simple to reverse the notification and ring your phone. So long as the phone is within Bluetooth range, this should be a feature on the new Versa/Ionic.

another related function with the Pebble's version of this app was that it worked in revers too...meaning you could use your phone to find your watch....you know like when you take if off after a night out on the town and cant remember, the next morning, where you took it off.  You could buzz your watch with your phone and the watch would light up and vibrate.....usually underneath or behind a the couch or night stand 😉

The watch would vibrate to remind you that you were leaving the range of your phone....lost remember how many times the Pebble saved return trips to the office because I left for home and forgotten my phone there or should say, I've lost count how many times I've now forgotten my phone because the Ionic doesn't have this app..  Guess I really do miss my Pebble.  Was not made as well as the Ionic but it sure did pack allot of useful functionality.

Before I bought my FitBit I had a FitBit knockoff that I bought on Amazon for less than $20, the app that you had to use with it was poopy as heck but one thing it had, and that worked flawlessly, was the ability to make my phone vibrate and sound an alarm with just the push of a button.

When I bought my $150 FitBit a few months later I naturally assumed that it would have all the same features, and more, as my $20 knockoff. It was pretty disappointing to realize that it was missing what I considered to be the best additional feature! However, what I find most disappointing is that, despite the obviously high demand of this feature by a great number of people, FitBit seems to be making little to no progress at making this feature a reality.

Sure, there are other apps you can use to locate your phone, but they require logging into a website, which requires a computer or somebody else's cellphone, it is way more convenient to just press a couple buttons on the device we all wear, basically 24/7, right on our wrists! Please work towards making this a reality soon, it's already been over half a year since this post was made 😣

Great function, can't see why they won't introduce it?

I definitely wish there was a find my iPhone ability on the Versa. With apple technology and copy right, I know it might be hard but it would be really helpful and if there is a way around the quick text reply for iOS as wel that would be great.

My boyfriend got a Samsung gear Fit2 pro and I’m so jealous of the find my phone feature he has. I always forget where I placed my phone, and it would be great to have that feature on my Versa. I don’t wanna switch phones.... and other than lacking the find my phone feature and quick replies on iOS, I feel my Versa is the best fit for me.

No one has bothered to make a custom app either. That baffles me even more. I mean, there's even "snake", but no "find my phone".

Couldn't agree more, after he/she (I don't think they have more than
working in software development) have fixed the "Connecting..........."
issue that should be the next priority.

I wish I knew how to.

The issue with coming up with a 3rd party app for this is that Fitbit only
allows apps to connect via the cloud. This means that to find your phone,
the app on the watch wouldn't have to connect through the cloud and then
back down to the phone!
Pebble had a mechanism where by 3rd parties apps on the phone could 'hook'
directly into the pebble app, which took out the while cloud step and made
the whole mechanism much simpler and more reliable.

Then basically we get back to the point that Fitbit doesn’t really take their already paying customers very seriously. They only focus on trapping new ones in spending money and sharing free data.
The fact they leave us hanging without even replying tonthis very lively thread bothers me more than not having the find-my-phone feature.

And if you read this Fitbit. I will keep busting your balls until yoo take the responsibility you have to provide service to all the good customers you already have.
Better listen otherwise you’ll start losing fanbase. You’re not the only brand with good products you know.

Enjoy your day.

Didn't know that. I was just going to look on their dev site, but that is a
deal breaker, as it would only **maybe** allow you to find the phone only
on known wifis.

That sucks...

To all the people in this thread: please ask all your fellow firbit-owners that are not in this forum, mainly because they don’t know it exists, to enter and contribute their opinion about this and other points of interest to make our wearables even more worth the money we paid for it.

I recently bought a Tile for my keys.  If you double-click the button on the Tile, and my phone is within bluetooth range, my phone plays a song, even if the volume is off.  If they can do it, Fitbit should be able to!  I'd love to have this capability on my wrist--or, for that matter, a Tile app for my wrist that allows my to ring my keys OR my phone!  But that's an issue for Tile.

TL;DR:  Add a Find-My-Phone capability to Fitbit!

How can we put more pressure on fitbit into developing this feature?

Looking into buying a Fitbit because my toddler broker my Garmin watch. I love the design of the Charge 3 and it has all that i need except a find my phone feature. I tend to misplace my phone during the day and it would be great if I could easily locate it with my watch. My Garmin does that and I love how much time it saves me.  Right now none of the Garmin watches look appealing to me, I would rather have a Fitbit. So I might just have to keep better track of my phone better. 😉

This feature should be available on all Fitbit products... This would definitely set you apart from the competition by miles!

I am a pebble user still and my wife switched from iPhone to Android. Loseing her Apple watch was a big deal but i told her fitbit had her covered. Sadly my pebbles seems to be still ahead of the versa in ways of apps as you can not ping your own phone from your watch???!!! What is this? Do this now, this is like a standard now in the wearable market. Also if pebble can do it then versa should. Make me want to get off my pebble 2 HR for a reason and bring your products up to par! This is embarrassing, make the app... This isn't hard... This is standard...

Please add a find my phone feature to your watches. That's the only thing they lack.

Yes! Must have this. Would have baught a different smart firness watch if I knew it did not have this basic smart watch feature. I have the ionic which needs more smart watch features like this.

I guess the watch can't talk to the phone while the app can talk to the watch. It isn't like the watch can control anything on the phone or you could just make you phone play music. If the phone is asleep I guess the app can't monitor the watch in the background or something.

Seriously, if Fitbit wants to market the ionic and the versa as smart phones they need to include basic smart watch functionality!  Phone location is a basic smart watch feature.  What is the problem?  This thread is 3 years old!

I created an account here just to comment about this. I had bought 3 fitbit watches (Charge 3, Versa & Alta HR) on Black Friday day, intended to be Christmas gifts. I assumed that they would be able to help locate the phone they are connected to bluetooth on, as my wife and kids are always losing their phones. I was shocked to discover that these devices do not have this simple but IMO important feature! I will be returning them unopened. Very disappointed Smiley Sad
