Add custom notes to Sleep Log or Rate Sleep

In order to effectively use the sleep log to improve sleep quality, I think it might be helpful to be able to annotate each log entry with comments about things that might affect sleep quality (eg alcohol consumption, use of sleeping tablet, late caffeine intake, late exercise, meditation/ relaxation, consumption of unusual foods etc). Then, on review of several weeks/ months of sleep logs, patterns may become evident.

Oops, something went wrong with my last comment. Here it is in full:

Hello ArchieP,

I agree. A simple text field would definitely suffice for me. That doesn't sound all that complicated.

There are enough Adobes, Apples and Microsofts in the world, who have forgotten how to listen to their customers. It would be a great asset and added value for Fitbit if they decided to be different, and actually keep in touch with their user community. Not just commenting here that it would be a great addition for years without actually changing anything.

@MarcelBK How many people have to suggest this before it happens or we get an update from team Fitbit? I like my Fitbit but y’all are killing me!

Yes, this is what I also wanted to suggest to add to the sleep dashboard. I want to rate my sleep quality and compare the good days with bad days.

hey Fitbit, Thanks in advance! 🙂

I think it would be great to have just a real quick and easy way to rate your sleep quality. I like to track my sleep patterns against the "benchmarks" that are provided, but I want to know what works best for me and my body. Do I feel better after I spent 40% in light sleep and 20 % in deep sleep? Or do I feel better when I spend 40% in REM, etc. It'd like to be able to just check a box or something in the morning to rate how well rested I feel so I could compare over time.

I haven't read through all the prior replies, but it might be helpful to add the generic capability for users to add different types of "metadata" related to various items in FitBit.  So not just notes about sleep, but their own customizable data items.  Would be helpful.

Hi, I was wondering if something can be delevoped in addtion to the sleep recognition of the app. It would be helpful if a set of questions appeared when you wake that address sleep quality. For example, do you feel rested? On a scale of 1-10 how rested do you feel? Or, some questions that your sleep savvy staff can come up with that will allow you to assess what amount of sleep provides you rest. Thank
you for taking your time to read this and your consideration.

I would find it very help to be able to add notes to my sleep log, for instance when I am sick and taking meds, or drink alcohol, or stress and mood. I currently use a spreadsheet in addition to sleep log to track those variable

I'm loving the sleep data on my new Versa.  The breakdown of sleep stages coupled with my 30 day average and benchmarks for men my age is really great.  But shouldn't there be similar information on sleep duration?  The current data shows how your sleep stages stack up on a percentage basis.  But it does not indicate whether you're getting enough sleep.  With the current metrics alone, I could be getting 3 hours of sleep per night, but as long as the sleep stage percentages are in range, everything looks fine.  Obviously 3 hours is not enough sleep.  It would be great to see how my total sleep duration, and stage totals, measure up to averages and medical advice for people in my demographic.

Totally agree. This would be good along with comparing data longer than 30 days. And when is that sleep score going to be released, I can't wait for that to be launched. Hurry up fitbit peeps please!

I came to the forum today for this exact suggestion. I just started using a fitbit charge 3 and love the sleep tracking. It's making me more mindful of going to bed and then seeing what my night was like. I think having a way to post a comment to the sleep log in the app would be great to help me remember why my night's sleep was bad or good. Things like "took Ambien, drank iced tea all day, depressed today, got bad news, had a great day, ..." is stuff I would add as a comment. Thanks for considering this as an added feature.

In order to improve my quality of sleep, I try new approaches and variables to my sleeping patterns. If I could add a comment on a side of each sleep, I would be able to understand if that change made an improvement or not for that particular night.

Example: Leaving the fan on to prevent light noises waking me up, or had 2 beers before going to bed. Trying to find a correlation between these actions and my sleep.

Thanks

Seems to be a fairly solid requirement from all the comments in this thread - I like all of them so please add something along these lines Fitbit! i.e. ability to add searchable comments / tags - would also be good to search across community as well as for just me so that I could put my nights in context with others.

Ability to add tags / comments would be good across all the app / data really.

I love to be able to add comments to each night's sleep log. That way I can record if I feel refreshed or have lots of dreams and compare it to what the log has recorded about my sleep.

I agree with RNR8888, a scale system when you wake up that helps you identify what kind of sleep (deep, REM, light) you need to function the best.

I think for me it definitely would be useful to note whether or not I needed to take a sleeping tablet or not, and how this affects the quality and stages of sleep. It would get my vote.

I want a note feature with the sleep log too! It would be great to be able to add notes to other logs as well  but the sleep log would be the most important for me.

This would be very helpful.

I see it's a post from 2015 and in consideration.

Does it really have to take up more than 3 years to decide whether to integrate annotation function with the sleep cycle or not?

Sounds like a great idea. My only problem is that I have no idea what it feels like to wake up feeling refreshed (the concept sounds like a marketing myth to me), so if there was a 1-10 scale to mark in the morning, mine would never get beyond 4 Man Sad

If Fitbit users could enjoy a Sleep Score / Quality feature on their devices &/or in the app, that would be greatly appreciated.
