Add deactivate instead of full switch between newest Fitbit devices

Several years have gone by with people complaining about not being able to have more than one versa or charge 3 attached to the same account. Obviously, there's some technical issue that prevents it from happening. Would it be possible to instead of a full switch, to have just one device "active" and the other's "deactivated"? Not to reinstall new?

Hi @nevets23. Thanks for taking the time to share this suggestion about being able to deactivate instead of setting it up from scratch between newest Fitbit devices with us. I too would like this facility.  I have a Versa 2 and a Sense, and while I am now using the Sense I would like the opportunity to use the Versa 2 from time to time without having to go through the whole rigmarole of deleting the one and installing the other.

I am equally frustrated by this. I would very much like one versa to wear and one to charge. I rely on my watch for medical reasons and it is frustrating when I need it, and the battery is low or dead. I have had the Versa, and just purchased the VERSA2. I was very frustrated when my Versa information was deleted. Please work to change this programming flaw. It is very important to people who use this as a medical device. Thanks, I love Fitbit, and would love to continue using this product.

Add me to the list of frustrated wearers. I recently purchased an Inspire 2 to accompany my Versa 2, which I prefer NOT to wear when gardening. Previously, I had the Versa 2 and an older Blaze attached to my ONE account, but the Blaze died and I assumed it could be removed and the Inspire 2 added. NOPE! Now I have two accounts and it's beyond frustrating. I'm honesty considering returning the Inspire 2 and buying a cheaper off-brand device to wear when gardening.

I agree. I have a surge, it still works but the crystal cracked so I bought a versa 2 and used them both with no problem. Then I got a sense thinking it would be the same. Found out I couldn't. I can still use my surge and sense. If there was a way I could use my versa2 and my sense by choosing which one was active that would be 👍

It wouldn't work because each watch would sync conflicting / overlapping data [eg. you might end up with double steps counted]

As a workaround I use 2 accounts though often the Log back in fails and its necessary to reboot the phone. At least it keeps the data from each watch separate. The secondary watch seems to be able to keep a weeks worth of data or more so switching only needs to be done once a week.

I have a surge and a sense currently on the same account. When I wear the sense the surge just sits and when I wear the sense the surge sits. I know if I wear both it will double my steps, so I don't. I can't see why the same thing can't be done with the versa 2 and the sense.

Fitbit couldn't ensure data integrity, users may wear both watches and that would create all sorts of problems.

My solution using 2 accounts is a nuisance as reverting back to the account with a Sense attached requires that Google Assistant be reactivated again.

The same problem on me. I have two devices since a few years. Now a new Sense and my old Blaze are working fine both on my one account. But what should I do when the Blaze dies? The official answer to this question is the access to the app gallery. So more a money problem. A very simple solution could be to pa the apps for both syncing trackers.

Apparently you can have more than one device on your account but it can't be from the same family like for example a versa 2 and 3 could not be on at the same time. I don't know for sure why this is but it is a good suggestion.

Hi
This isn’t correct. All devices using the app gallery can’t combined with.

Here is the Fitbit support answer:
Fitbit Ace trackers are made for kids. Fitbit Ace is designed for kids 6 and up and Fitbit Ace is designed for kids 8 and up. See http://www.fitbit.com/ace2 and http://www.fitbit.com/ace for more information. If you still want to use a new device, we suggest to register it on a different Fitbit account. However, we're constantly striving to improve Fitbit products and services. Yes you can have 2 devices, just not 2 new devises. For example my wife has a Charge 4 and Blaze that sinks to the same account and I have a surge and sense that sink the the same account. I love this because when one is charging I can wear the other one.

I did try and have a Versa 2 and a sense but they won't let your sink to the same account.

I think there must be away to let this happen.

I am so disappointed I am not able to connect two devices to one account.  I have a Charge 3 and Versa 2 and would like to be able to use them in different situations (when outside working, for example, use my older Charge 3 and use the Versa 2 when there is not as much danger of damage) and have the step counts and other stats combined in one spot.

Old problem and nobody understands why there’s no fix. Wether you take an old tracker without app gallery support (Blaze works, I have this one) and the new sense (like me). In this use case it’s possible to have both in your app. Or you can use MobileTrack (runs as soft tracker on mobile Phone) in case of emergency.

Hi,

I am Plswish and I no longer buy Fitbit products. I have been waiting for years. I can send a picture if Fitbit would like to see my Fitbit trackers laid out ready to switch which I haven't done for over a year and plan to pack them up as they are collecting dust. I use my Sense and Blaze, so I don't have to switch on the app. The reason I have a Sense is because it was a gift. I have told the individuals that love me NOT to buy me the newest Fitbit any longer, as I can't use them without deleting the other one from my app., and adding the new one. "They are listening"!  With all the technology improvements rather fast over the years I just don't understand why this has not been addressed and fixed. Fitbit I am sure if this is not corrected SOON you will be obsolete in the future!

I still do not understand why this isn't fixed. Someone really screwed up. I'm a Linux kernel developer and I can think of several ways to design code that makes this not a problem. Either someone is incompetent or they do not want to bother. Either way, it is a huge design mistake. I too will not buy another Fitbit product until my current one completely dies. I use to upgrade every year, but that was before buying a new product meant not being able to use my old one.

Absolutely. I have 3 Fitbit devices. It's stupid that when I switch, it's like setting up a new device every time. My Samsung watches automatically switch when I put them on.

I’m so sad to see this is an ongoing, yet still unresolved problem.  I have a Versa2  and bought a Luxe as soon as they came out because it is nice and dressy. Only THEN did I discover the hoops I’d have to jump through to switch between the two.  Sure chills my desire to buy another one except as a replacement. I’m interested in some of the new models, but won’t buy another if I can’t switch them when I want with the ones I already have.

A customer satisfaction & a marketing opportunity fail.

There is no way to associate two fitbit trackers with one account. The only way to switch trackers on an account is to remove one, and add another one, which is a long process, I suggest that a compromise would be to have a "save data" option so that tracker info is saved when disconnecting one to add another one, making the switch faster.

Hi @mgkuzyk, thanks for taking the time to share this product feedback about developing an easier switch between multiple Fitbit devices in one account. I found a similar product feedback already requested on this board, so I’ve moved your post here. Please support this product feedback by adding your vote, this helps our developers to keep tracking its popularity and demand over time.

Well, since there is already another post here with over 2k votes requesting multiple trackers on one account... and its from 2013 and locked... it doesn't really seem like posting or voting on this form matters at all.

I got a second Inspire last month so I could have two different colors and switch between them readily. One could be charging while I wore the other. Most companies would love people buying more than one of their product. But when I found out I couldn't add the second Inspire it to my account and easily switch between the two devices, I immediately returned it.

I understand Google won't care about the loss of Fitbit sales because they want everyone to abandon Fitbit and buy a Pixel. However, if I wanted to wear a fat ugly smartwatch with a bunch of features I don't need or care about, I would already own one. And even IF I wanted to try one, I would want to be able to switch easily to other my other tracker(s) when the bulkiness of the Pixel was driving me crazy (like for sleeping, perhaps). With their current approach, I suspect converting Fitibt users to Pixel users isn't going to happen as easily as Google had hoped.
