Add more swimming stats (lap times, elapsed time, distance or length) on screen

Upgraded from Ionic to Versa 2. Very disappointed with Swim tracking. Versa 2 lost the ability to keep track of elapsed laps. I have to count manually and that defeats the purpose of a fitness tracker. I was told this is working as designed. I will be returning the Versa 2 to Fitbit until this functionality is added. Going back to Ionic. Need the ability to customize Swim stats by:
- Completed Laps
- Elapsed Time
- Heart Rate   (vote here!)

I’m so mad. I just just a versa 3 and thought this would be a standard feature in a new smart watch. I might have to return it. I don’t need the bloomin time there’s a huge clock on the wall. I used to love Fitbit but they’re just behind with the technology (or too lazy to listen and fix what their users want?)

I swim a few times a week and im so frustrated! Come on Fitbit! This is an easy fix!

Yup totally agree with this. Just got the new versa 3 and considering returning it as it doesn’t count live laps and swimming is the main thing I do. As you said there’s a great big clock on the wall. I don’t need to know the time. I do however lose count of my lengths so I need to know that.

why make a watch for swimming that doesn’t count what you’ve done?!its infuriating. It’s such an easy fix for them to provide.

i think unfortunately Fitbit aren’t really for proper sport anymore. They now seem to be a gimmick product for “wellbeing” and steps. The rest of the market outweighs them by miles and this will be the last one I get.

Even swim pro pro app is not working with Fitbit anymore. They obviously know Fitbit are not bothered to enhance this section of their market. Grrrrr.

Do you suggest some other watches that show swimming stats realtime? I think I'm going to return mine as well and change it for another that works well with swimming. It's also the main thing I do.

I am beyond infurious. I agree with the above user. I have a Versa 2. I loved my original Versa. SO UNHAPPY THAT THEY REMOVED THE ABILITY TO COUNT LAPS WHILE YOU SWIM. WHY DID YOU CHANGE THIS????? This is an important feature for swimmers. I don't need the timer. There's a clock in the pool area. This is so FRUSTRATING. I have spoken to 4 different tech support people. Each said I should be able to keep track of laps in real time as I swim. No one can help and they keep stringing me along telling me they will send an email with more information. No email in over a week.

Add ability to display timer, distance and lengths on the watch face while swimming.
Also add lengths and distance as options for goal setting- again only time is available.
In summary Swim should operate in a similar manner as Walk.

Hi @NiallJhumphreys, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see more stats (time, distance or length) on Versa 3. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

Hi @YojanaFitbit ,

I would like to add that we would also like to have it in Charge 4 and probably other models. The same applies to all watches.

Best,

Xavi.

Following the fact you had this feature in Versa 1 (as I have heard from others), then removd it for no good reason from versa 2 and compltly ignored this for over a year and a half do you really think anyone who cares about swimming will even consider the versa 3?

I would never buy a fitbit again for sure

So agree with this!

I for one have given up with Fitbit and gone to Apple

Counts my laps and gives me so much information. Such a shame , I wonder how
many customers they have lost with pure neglect?

Would they have stripped the swimming because they are are wanting to have it as a premium product like Fitbit premium?
Just a thought!!!

I just bought the fitbit versa 3.

I am very disappointed that you cannot read the number of lengths while swimming on your wrist. I think this is something basic what you can expect from a smartwatch of 200 EUR. For example, if I want to swim 2000 meters as a swimmer, I can only know if I passed after I got out of the pool and consulted my phone. That doesn't make sense. It is as if you are going to run and cannot read the distance, I hope you will take this into account in a future software update. Many users will be happy with this basic update.

The haven’t listened since it changed with the versa 2! Such a shame I liked my Fitbit but now have an apple 6 which is brilliant for swimming

My Versa died and I have replaced it with a Versa 2 which stated it had a swim function, silly me assumed it would be at least the equivalent of my previous Versa ...... wrong! You can only track time not distance or laps, these can only be accessed on a mobile device and I don’t take my mobile phone swimming. Also the distance is quite inaccurate.

Hi @JMH52. Thanks for sharing this suggestion about getting more stats displayed during a swim activity on Versa 2. This idea was already requested in the Feature Suggestions board, so I’ve moved your post here. The same problem is with the Charge 4. Basically you can only see the time and swim duration. So much for an advanced fitness tracker. I hope they will fix this problem across all their bands. And soon.

The Versa 3 needs the lap counter like on original versa. The versa 3 does not currently count the lengths of 25 yard pool correctly. The mode only has the stop watch and no counter that is visible. I swim 100 lengths of pool, 10 breast and the rest freestyle. The phone app at end of swim says I did 69 lengths of pool, not 100,

@LizzyFitbit as I understand you (FitBit) have basically removed this crucial feature (lap count) which was available on the first Versa edition and now it has to gain "popularity" in order for FitBit to bring it back?

Why did you remove it in the first place?

I strongly recommend that FitBit just corrects this mistake and at least bring back lap count while swimming both to Versa 3 and Charge 4.

Simply repeating that the idea has already been suggested is really not very helpful; just leaves your customers feeling patronised.

When will Fitbit add the capability to track open water swimming to its devices ?

Thanks

I am really surprised to see that the lap counter feature has been removed - I JUST purchased a Versa 3 and this was one of the features I was looking forward to utilizing.  It seems that Fitbit developers and designers are not athletes and don't understand the features we need/want.  My have to return my Versa and go to Garmin, but then I lose the sleep features.   Aghhh!  Shouldn't have to be such compromises for such simple things, especially at this price.

The same is with Charge 4. I do not know if it was included in previous versions but their newest "advanced fitness tracker" does NOT have lap count while swimming.

People complained about this even in July last yes but so far they failed to listen to their customers. Some have even sold their bands because they needed a band that has this crucial feature.

AdisP
Base Runner

All previous FitBit bands have shown lap count while swimming. Now Charge 4 and Versa 3 unfortunately do not show it. Instead of adding more useful features the are unfortunately removing them. I would really like to know why FitBiT decided to do this. A HUGE step backwards.

I hope they will fix this mistake soon.

I was forced to upgrade my Versa because the screen went black after 2 years or less of owning. I bought a Versa 2, only to find it doesn't track live HR and laps whole swimming. You have to check the app on your phone after the swim. Not helpful.
