Allow Fitbit devices to receive WeChat notifications

this is very important for fitbit support the wechat.

This will help fitbit more large to open the China market.

Many of my friends do not use fitbit since its do not support wechat, especially wechat sport.

I think this is not very difficult for some programming team to develop this function.

You can find information here: http://iot.weixin.qq.com/

Hope this help fitbit become better.

I find it implausible that FitBit chooses not to support WeChat, knowing how that would help sell their hardware in China.

That leaves the explanation that they value its proprietary software more, perhaps positioning it as a future profit center. Maybe even at the expense of losing money by selling discounted FitBits. Sort of like the Alexa for Amazon.

Except we are not talking about Amazon. We are talking about a company that sells one product, and one product only.

If that's the case, FitBit hasn't figured out a way to monetize its software yet, so it's blocking the floodgate at China without allowing compatibility with WeChat. But the irony is, there is no flood on the other side of the gate, because there is no compatibility with WeChat. Come to think of it, how insular is the executive office at FitBit? Do they know that kids regularly hop over the Great Wall of Internet via VPN regularly?

We can wax strategies all day long, but who knows what FitBit's top brass is thinking. Its stock has gone from $47 2 years ago to $5 today, while S&P grew 30%+ in the same period. Why? Because FitBit is still a one-trick pony, and Wall Street lumps it with other ponies like GoPro and short them all the way to zero.

If the top brass are bold, they would have opened up their hardware and software to all, instead of holding on to their dear user-base in the US. Surely they are sweating over lack of user growth, instead of patting on their own back thinking they still got a captive audience!

There are many people already requested this but there is still not a clear answer when this will be resolved!!

I used to to own an Apple Watch and then decided to move back to Fitbit. It was all fine until I found out all my friends and families are on Werun ( a part of WeChat). China is such a big market and I can’t believe Fitbit can’t be synced to WeChat directly. I have been trying all possible solutions for days, buying syncing app, researching and having hope something will work but it turned out nothing works. Unfortunately, I have to now consider go back to my Apple Watch...at least, it will get the steps count right... it’s not just about competing, werun is a way of keeping in touch with friends and family. And it is so fun with the close interaction.

This is so frustrating and if Fitbit is not doing something, it will really continue to lose customer:(

Welcome to the Forums @vivid530.

Thanks for sharing your feedback on the matter.

It is important to mention that these third-party integrations are developed by the third-parties themselves and not Fitbit directly. Because of this maybe you could also try to bring it up to WeChat directly.

In the meantime you could support this suggestion to integrate with WeChat. You can vote and comment on the idea to show your support. Be sure to read the FAQ if you have any questions on the way the Feature Suggestions board works.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Seriously it’s high time Fitbit does something to allow us to sync our steps with WeRun. I was just in Taiwan and all my friends there have never heard of Fitbit but all of them were using WeRun. I hate to hold my phone while walking and since I’m using an iPhone it takes data from my Apple Health app which isn’t accurate because a lot of times I don’t hold my phone when I walk. I hate it that I’m actually walking more steps than my friends but it’s not showing on WeRun. I’m already regretting a little that I should’ve bought Apple Watch instead.

My fitbit has been in the drawer for quite a while now, which is a shame. Wechat provide the API, just requires somebody with the programming knowledge to get it to work!
