@InkedPistol, I'm confused. If one was a replacement Charge HR due to a broken band, how does Fitbit adding this feature allow you to use that broken band?
If you find that one Charge 2 will address your needs and have two working Charge HR's, then you can recover most of that cost if you're crafty. They're listed on ebay for about $50, and you can even sell the USB dongles separately. Together you may be able to get over $100 for your current products and it'll make getting that Charge 2 possible, though keep in mind that the additional teal band will be an additional $30.
@manolosf, while it's fair that you can't have two Surges, you can have a Blaze and a Surge on the same account. If you compare the two products, the only feature that the Surge has that the Blaze lacks is the built-in GPS; the Blaze has replaceable bands to boot. While I find that feature useful (I used it on a recent 5k), I find that I prefer the look, feel, and function of the Blaze over the Surge. Also note that the Blaze has connected GPS, so if you carry your phone on your activities, it'll function similarly.
Why can't you use two fitbits of the same type on one account. This is super dumb. It means that fitbit is about to lose the $140 I just spent on a 2nd HR because it's point less to own and I'll return it. Get your act together fitbit !!

More than one tracker can now be linked to a single account but they have to be different devices 😞 It would be really good if they could remove this limitation!
I have been given a second fitbit flex and was excited because I could charge them alternately and never miss a step! But I was dissapointed to find out this isn't possible though 😞
It depends on why you got the 2nd Charge HR... Specifically what are the features of the Charge HR that the Charge 2 lacks that requires 2 Charge HR's that a Charge HR/Charge 2 does not address?
Right... so why can't you get a Charge HR in black and a Charge 2 in teal? Charge the Charge HR while you wear the Charge 2 and vice versa... What am I missing?
I mean I get that you want the two Charge HR's... but the Charge 2 does more than the Charge HR and, in my opinion, is a sleeker device.
Specifically, other than 'it's just what I want', what feature about the Charge HR is missing on the Charge 2 that leads you to want two Charge HR's instead of a Charge HR/Charge 2 combination?
So you want an older model simply because it's no longer available? If you had a choice between a Samsung Galaxy 7 and a Samsung Galaxy 3, you'd pick the earlier model? Is this really the reason why you want a Charge HR vs. a Charge 2? Because the former is no longer available? So are you really asking Fitbit to spend development resources getting two of the same model trackers to work in one account... because you want to use a model that is 'gone from shelves'?
Additionally, if you simply get an extra band in the color that you want for the Charge 2, you can simply swap out the bands instead of having two trackers... So no need for a 2nd tracker.
And if you plug in your Charge 2 to charge it while you shower (assuming you shower regularly, every day or two), it'll keep its charge indefinitely. I tested this on the Flex (every 2nd day for only 10-15 minutes while I showered), I'd be shocked if that wasn't the case on the Charge 2. So you won't lose any steps.
You remind me of me when I was younger, and thought I had all the answers... I didn't realize how annoying I must have been.
Are you sure you're not being paid by Fitbit?? You are pushing new products as a "solution" to this software limitation. A new product is not a solution, it just allows Fitbit to do nothing about fixing this restriction.
I ended up selling one of my Surges and buying a Blaze, so I am no longer in need of this feature, but I still think it's a valid request and should be remedied. The main reason I wanted two of the same model, was so I didn't have to remember the differences in functionality between two different models (e.g.: alarm snooze is different button on the Surge than it is on the Blaze).
People like what they like, and not everyone likes change, or wants to own two different model trackers (even if you think they should). Your opinion is yours, and you're entitled to it, but it's just your opinion - it doesn't mean you are right (it may be right for you, but that doesn't make it right for everyone else). And just like you, everyone else is entitled to their opinion as well, even if it differs from yours.
Sorry if I come off that way... Really, at the end of the day, I'm just trying to get people unblocked with what currrently works. This thread started before the new trackers were announced, and to be perfectly honest, in my opinion, having the new models addresses the need for this feature for the vast majority of folks. Most of the posters on this thread wanted two Flexes or two Charge HR's.
I'm not saying that Fitbit should not address their issues (though I'd hardly call this broken as your implication to 'fix this restriction' would imply)... Of course they should. However, given this feature request or other request where folks have fewer viable workarounds (like team challenges or web access to challenges), I'd put this one much further down the list... which is also one of the reasons why I don't vote for this feature request.
I ask people why they feel they need a 2nd of the same tracker, not because I want to put them on the spot, but because if we can address the issue, they won't necessarily need the feature. The vast majority of them fall into one (or both) of these two reasons:
They want to accessorize with different colors.
They want to wear one while they charge one so they don't lose steps.
The newer trackers (with interchangeable bands) address the first issue. Charging the tracker when you're not getting steps (while showering or driving) addresses the second.
If @neon810 had mentioned that they simply prefer the UI or the Charge HR, or that there's a feature that the Charge 2 lacks that is available on the Charge HR (though I can't image what it is), then I would've conceded the point. I had the Charge HR briefly and returned it within the 45 days of their return policy; the Charge 2 is much improved.
Some folks say that they'll move to other brands due to this issue, and to my knowledge no other brands allow you to have multiple trackers at all on the same account, much less multiple of the same model.
No, I understood what you wrote. You want to have two Charge HR's paired to your account, which is not currently possible.
What suggested as a viable option is pairing a Charge HR and a Charge 2 to your account, which is currently possible.
Having had the Charge HR briefly (and then returned within the 45 days) and currently with the Charge 2, I'd pick the latter without hesitation. It's a sleeker device with far more features.
So you mention on this thread that you had also gotten a Charge 2 and that didn't address the issue... This leads me to believe that there's something about the Charge HR that you prefer over the Charge 2, which honestly has me perplexed. From my observations, the Charge 2 is in every respect superior than the Charge HR, so really... I'm more morbidly curious than anything else.
I'm one that wanted two of the same. One reason is I love my flex (I'm 56 and don't feel i need all the bells and whistles of some of the others, and learning new things is a challenge..lol)the other I have about 20 different colored bands and didn't want to have to buy a lot of other stuff with a different tracker. I did return my second flex when just after I bought it the flex 2 came out. I have a pool and go to the water park a lot with my grandkids. It is waterproof. I was excited. I was SO glad I couldn't use two of the same. Love the flex two. Haven't used it in the water as October in NW Indiana is a little cold!! Stop bashing people who want two of the same. It's THEIR choice!!
@PureEvil I'm not using the broken one. I got a replacement and a second charge HR. I want to black one at work and my teal everywhere else. I just want them to let you have 2 identical trackers. It's not that hard.
Gotcha. Since there'd be no reason why you'd keep a tracker that you couldn't pair to your account, I assume that you got that 2nd Charge HR fairly recently, which also leads me to believe that you'd still be able to return it.
I can understand how some folks may read this and simply think, "Stop telling people that they shouldn't want what they want." Rest assured that I'm not trying to do that, I just know enough about how Fitbits work so that I may suggest a way that you can effectively get what you ultimately want without needing and waiting for Fitbit to implement this feature.
The Charge 2 does everything that the Charge HR does and more (and comes in teal). I had the Charge HR briefly (and returned it, since it didn't meet my needs) and currently have the Charge 2. Trust me on this one, the Charge 2 is a much nicer tracker with many more features than the Charge HR. The Charge 2 also allows you to swap bands (different colors and styles, like leather). The Charge 2 is currently only $20 more than the Charge HR (in the US).
While I understand that it's not what you originally intended, is there a reason why wearing a black Charge HR at work and a teal Charge 2 everywhere else does not address your needs? Is there something that is particularly compelling about that teal Charge HR (sentimental value?... perhaps a gift from a loved one) that leads you to want to stick to that particular model?
Lastly, you may come to find that having the Charge 2 (and its swappable bands) means that you don't need two trackers. You can simply switch back and forth between black and teal (and blue and plum and leather options) bands whimsically.
I was about to consider getting a 2nd Blaze in order to have one fully charged at all times, given that the bat life is not 5 but rather 2-3 days when using maximum features. How am I supposed to be using all the features as intended if it dies every 2 days? A second device is my solution. Of course I want it to be the same model type so why is that not allowed yet? If I can't have 'always on' syncing and notifications then what's the point of boasting those features.
@SunsetRunner are you asking a question and describing your situation, or suggesting a feature that has all ready been requested and is waiting for your vote and comment.
I have two charge hr and i want to have both in my account. Like that when one is charging i can use the other. I just dont want to go thru all process to disconnect one and connect the other. I saw you can connect different devices. If fitbit fix this and we can connect two of the same devices will be awesome. Please make this change so you can make a lot of your customers happy!!!!!
Can't believe this still hasn't been fixed by fitbit. If you're going to sell charge hr in various colors makes sense your customers might buy more than one to match what they wear. Please fix this, deleting and adding over and over again isn't user friendly!
