Be allowed to have both a Fitbit Versa and a Fitbit Ionic on the same account so you can easily switch between them.

We should be able to have more than one 'smart' style tracker on our accounts. By this I mean a person could reasonably want to have a nicer looking wrist device for work/other while also having a device better suited to workout use. The newer fitbits are mostly smart, add the feature back in!

Hi @katsrevenge. Thanks for taking the time to explain why you'd like to have multiple devices that shared similar operation systems connected into the same Fitbit account. This idea was already requested in the Feature Suggestions board, so I’ve moved your post here. This will help us to keep the forums organized and make sure the suggestions don't get confused, or split a popular vote. you need to fix the problem making it impossible to own and use an Ionic, or any of your watches, at the same time you use an Inspire, or any of the clip on trackers.

I just bought an Ionic. Seems really cool, but I will be returning it.

@LizzyFitbit  It would be nice if we didn't keep getting told to move the suggestion! It's been suggested since 2018!

I agree. The only update we see is moving post and not a solution. Such a waste lf time.

Like rubbing salt in the wound, constant reminder of how slow Fitbit has been to resolve such a critical omission and requested feature, at one point this was even shelved.

Hey Fitbit, how about some useful feedback like implementation progress? Is it going to be another 2 years wait or are we expecting this to be implemented before the next new watch release? (yes keep churning those out without the ability to use your current device, smart)

Sorry to vent but ...... come on, its not a reasonable amount of time to wait for anything, space x is going to get to the moon before this is implemented.

So, um, interesting way to address the comments of everyone I can see so far who all want the same thing, to be able to use their trackers when it suits them, and their watches when it suits them, and to have both devices available to seamlessly switch.  I have not taken the time to look at all 1500 plus comments on this thread but having cruised through other commentary on this subject, I can see that this issue has been on the minds of fitbit users for at least 2 years.

I am glad you all know there seems to be quite a sizeable community of fitbit users who are asking for a fix. is there any plan to, well FIX THIS????  I will return the Ionic pretty quickly I suppose, I do not have 2 years to wait around to see if Fitbit is going to fix this.  So, any plans anytime soon?

@LizzyFitbit  So when will this feature be added back in?

Do ANY of the devices still work together on the same account???? I mean......

Out of curiosity, what limits does Fitbit have on using multiple devices?  Are there only certain ones they limit you from having more than 1?  I have a Charge 2 and a Charge 3 connected and active on my account. I switch between the devices when I use the Charge 2 for mowing lawn/yardwork in case it gets damaged as I don't want to damage the Charge 3 for example.

I'll probably be buying the Sense after it releases, will Fitbit then no longer allow me to use either my Charge 2 or Charge 3 once I pair a Sense with my account? Or will there be no issues because they all use different "operating systems"?

So, here is  an update of my experience.

I have an Inspire and I just bought an ionic. Although you can't have both devices available to seamlessly switch back and forth, if you don't mind spending two or three minutes every time you change to a different device you can install whichever device you want to use at the moment with your dashboard on the Fitbit app

It's a little bit annoying when what you want to do is run out of the house without having to set anything up before you go.

It would be really nice if Fitbit could just leave both devices on my account and let me push a button to activate one or the other without making me install it all over again, but it doesn't take a half hour to reinstall the ionic once it is installed the first time, it really does only take 2 or 3 minutes.

It's a hassle but it's not insurmountable.

I go through the same thing with my Ionic, Versa 2 and Charge 4. I use each one for different reasons and switch between them a couple times a week.

That's what doesn't make sense for me.  I have both the Charge 2 and Charge 3 paired with my account so my app shows both devices paired/connected to my account at the same time.  I don't need to delete one and install the other in order to swap.  I just put the other one on my wrist as both are already installed and paired with my account.

Wonder why this is seamless with Charge 2 and Charge 3 but once you have an Ionic/Versa etc, you cannot have more than 1 device paired at a time and it forces you to delete one in order to install the other each time you want to swap devices?

I can't believe this has been under consideration for 6 years and no progress, yet you still see new posts of people wanting to be able to have multiple trackers on one account. Fitbit, you don't want our money to have multiple trackers??? I'd say thats a bad business plan, you could be selling so many more with this one feature. With 6 years already going by, why don't you just be honest with us and say its not going to happen.

Come on folks! This idea was posted 7 years ago and still it's only under consideration? You have a growing product line of wearables that are using apps and it is shameful that in all this time you have not figured out a way for us to have multiple devices using apps attached to the same account so that we can switch out without drama and trauma.  This is one of those universal features that you shouldn't be nickel and diming your customers on. Please make this a priority.

It would be nice if you could have 2 Fitbit watches connected to one account. To have one for ordinary use, and one for sports and sweating 😊. Are you working on a solution that will allow 2 watches in one account ? It would be awesome and convenient and you could sell more watches I guess 😉

Hi @MWMa, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to use multiple devices on the same account . I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". I hope to see you around.

this has been "under consideration" for over 2 years...

What I find amazing is that FitBit sells devices and that they
consciously made a decision to limit the sale of additional devices and
that this is a recent update. How did someone not get fired?

When I bought my first device I could add multiple devices to my
account, I have three at the moment, (Blaze, One, and Ionic) and they
swap seamlessly. The only limitation was it couldn't be the exact same
model, but that was easy enough to work around.

I recently ordered a Charge 4 and had to send it back when I discovered
it couldn't be added with my Ionic. Turns out none of the new models can
be added.

I just don't see how this makes sense, I would think FitBit would want
you to own multiple devices. Well, I guess when I get down to one device
it will make it easier to shop around for a different platform.

Exactly @swmorrisus , only allowing 1 device at a time directly impacts Fitbit revenue as it prevents you from buying multiple devices (yes, there are those of us who have and use multiple devices). If you had 2+ Fitbit activity trackers (let's say a Sense/Versa 3/2 as your dress/work device, and another like Charge 3/4 or Inspire for your working around the house/yardwork device), then they are currently discouraging people from buying and owning multiple Fitbit activity trackers.

To your point, if you are 2+ devices invested into the Fitbit platform, with perhaps an Aria scale, then you want to stay with the platform. By limiting the number of activity trackers to 1 that can be paired at a time, there is less incentive for people to be "locked" into Fitbit and can evaluate other platforms (iOS).

Considering this worked prior to the "new" devices like Inspire HR, Inspire 2, Versa 2, Sense, Versa 3 etc, it shouldn't be hard for them to fix. It must be part of the setup process that they need to tweak to not force you to "replace" your currently paired device to pair multiple devices.

My Charge 2 and Charge 3 can be on the same account paired and swapped seamlessly. Once I try to sync with my wife's Inspire HR it forces me to replace my existing devices with the Inspire HR.

@swmorrisus and @bobby2478

I'll start by saying I was pretty active on this thread and hopeful that fitbit would do something about this. I don't think they will... in time for me to use Fitbit devices the way I want to use them (2 devices that use the Fitbit OS.... newer fitbit devices). I've gone to Garmin with a Swim watch and waiting for a Vivoactive 4s to be delivered. Total cost almost $600. So that's obviously what I'd pay to have multiple watches on one account. So that's, potentially, what fitbit lost.

The reason you could do it on old devices (before Fitbit OS) and not on newer devices (after Fitbit OS implemented) is that Fitbit OS is the Pebble OS made to work with Fitbit devices. I was a big Pebble fan and was disappointed when Fitbit bought them. The only reason I came to Fitbit was hoping that Fitbit would make a decent product using the Pebble OS. I think they did except that it seems that they did very little to bring Pebble up to the minimum Fitbit functionality when the new Fitbit OS devices came out.... never mind make improvements that Pebble probably would've made.

I don't see much on here about this really being the Pebble OS but I think that's important to know. Good luck!

I've been a Fitbit User since the very first model and appreciated how when I upgraded, I could keep my previous model on my account for use when my new device was on the charger, or I needed a smaller footprint, etc.

So having just recently upgraded from the Charge 3 to the Sense, I was disappointed to find I couldn't have both of these devices on my account simultaneously. My old Charge 2 (which had been serving as my backup up until now) doesn't hold a charge very well anymore, and is also kind of clunky to work out with now that I'm used to the touch screen, so I was really looking forward to having my Charge 3 be the backup buddy to my Sense.

Please please PLEASE consider adding this feature. I know it was possible with the previous (non-smartwatch) models as I still have my One and my Charge 2 on my account. (And yes, I still pop the One on my waistband from time to time when I can't wear something on my wrist.)

I would LOVE to have my Charge 3 play backup to my new Sense!!

good luck. When you write your review of this product you may want to
inform other users of this drawback to the upgrades.
