I think it would be interesting to see what temperature it is while exercising.
I noticed yesterday, that despite having more steps than the day before, my calories burned were about 10% less than the day before. I deduced that it was because the temperature was about 20 degrees cooler. My heart-rate was also much lower, presumably because of the stress the heat and humidity had on me. I know I was stepping faster, deliberately, because I could see I was off pace for calories being burned. It would be helpful to me to be able to look back and see what the temperature, and maybe even the humidity was like, as registered by the Fitbit, so I can more easily compare one workout to the next.
I'm not an expert, but since I live in one of the most hot and humid city in the world, I was wondering if outdoor workout under 30°C affects the daily calories consumption.
If it so, wouldn't it be nice to set the work considering the weather?
Nice suggestion, thanks for sharing. It would be very interesting to have an option like this. Not only with weather, but maybe with other conditions. We look forward to hearing what other community members think.
Let's put this through along with a health symptom tracker! Those of us with chronic illnesses cannot meet our step goals every day. Rest is just as important as activity to our health. Also, trackinging general health symptoms can be done just like the female health ones recently inplemented.
Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We're always striving to enhance Fitbit products and services, and we appreciate all of the input we receive from our customers. I read that you burn more calories (not many more, but some) running on a 90 degree day as opposed to a 70 degree day. I'd like to see the temperature recorded on the run summary page and be able to sort by it. Even if it doesn't alter the calories burned in the algorithm, a person can track if they've run more or less on the really hot days as opposed to the mild days.
Hi @drasper69, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. This feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here. Don't forget to add your vote!
This is not at all what I was suggesting. Since the ionic has the weather, let it use the reading from there. No sensors. Then allow us to sort run patterns by temperature. That's it, a software change, not a hardware change.

I’ve been waiting to trade in my Surge for a Fitbit that reports ambient temperature. I currently use a Casio dumb watch for water temperature monitoring while I swim. The thermometer is not very accurate in air, but it works well in the water. My swimming buddies would be interested in this along with the wild swimming Facebook group. There is a market! The sensor is already in there.
Hello @Barney4 ! Thanks for sharing this suggestion, I moved it to this similar post so you can add your vote to it. Please keep sharing your ideas with us!
Would be pretty useful if Fitbit used the weather on your iphone to show temperature and humidity and integrate that into your workouts. Seems like a pretty useful function as working out or doing anything in 100 degree weather is significantly different than 60 degree weather.
Hi @Hoss123, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback regarding weather and exercise with us. This feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here. At the moment it is not planned to implement it. Nonetheless you can still add your vote.
It is a known fact that temperature and humidity affect performance during a workout. Since weather is already an app on the smart watches could it be included on the exercise summary? That way if someones performance is affected by weather they can see why.
Hi @SunsetRunner , thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to add an ambient temperature sensor to adjust calories burned. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request. A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.
Hello @YojanaFitbit my request is similar since ambient temperature does affect calories burned. But I'm suggesting a software feature instead of a hardware update. Unless the watches already have a sensor in them to measure temp.
Considering weather conditions while calculating calories and cardio scores. Weather conditions like temperature and humidity impact severely while working out.
Hi @Saad, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to add temperature to adjust calories burned count. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request. A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.
I definitely recommend some additions to the Exercise option. Yard work ; Mowing; Trimming, Raking...just to name a few. All those options increase heart rates & require strength & muscle and burn calories. To be even more targeted, factor in temp/humidity via link to weather app already included in Versa 2 (secondary recommendation).
