Ankle mode

Please make one u wear on ankle then u would get all the steps. When u are in a store with carts such as grocery, target etc it won't record all the walking one is doing with a cart. I have to try and push with one hand!! They can have pretty but functionally ankle devices some can be practically for a guy and pretty like an ankle bracelet for a women!!! Please develop this!! Soon!!

You should have all option to wear your charge on your ankle. I do not get accurate steps at my job
Because I am pulling carts or pushing pallets I feel sad about my lost steps

I like a lot of people here work in a hospital, and in the UK the policy is bare below the elbows. As a result my fitbit is on my ankle all day long, so if there was some sort of tweak for the software or an ankle 'option' that would be great for me as wearing on the wrist is simple not allowed.

fitbit engineers u really really! need to do this for your customers.... please please! include an option in settings that allows users of fitbit charge hr go set the device for wearing on ankle with accuracy...... seems like people have been requesting this feature here for over a year..... please don't make us go to flyfit which I'm considering right now.... we really really need to get this feature out this spring...thanks a lot in advance

I have a 6 months old baby and my hands are busy with the baby or the stroller so Fitbit doesn't count all my steps! I put my Fitbit on my ankle with a robber band and it works great but it doesn't look good!
I wish you have something made for that!

I have a charge HR. Fitbit should create a tracker that actually tracks steps walked. I have a desk job and it tracks steps walked even though I havent walked anywhere. If I go grocery shopping it doesn't track any steps because I'm pushing a cart. Maybe a tracker that goes around the ankle to track the steps but it links to a watch that tracks HR.

Non surge and blaze user have difficulty/inaccuracy in measurinig cycling.

Could you possibly change the fitbit firmware so that cycling could be measured by wearing the fitbit on the ankle while cycling?

Working on the ankle I don't think we'll work as well, since without GPS the speed and distance will be unknown. The HR might still knows how hard your working. I'm not saying that it can't be done.

My thoughts are in addition to voting for this suggestion there is one more that could be beneficial, that is being able to track cycling on the app

I recently had back surgery and walking is a big part of my recovery! Problem....can't swing my arms while walking! Wasn't getting a correct reading of my steps. Walking is hard and painful and I want credit for each step I take to reach my goal. Solution.....wear my Fitbit on my ankle! It's not to comfortable and some of the options don't work. Could you imagine how many handicap people could benefit from a ankle Fitbit.
Please think about expanding the development of different places one can wear their Fitbit to get their actual step count. I'm now up to two miles a day, after a month out from surgery....still painful but my Fitbit keeps me motivated! Smbrennen

Agreed. I clip the Fitbit One to shoe laces or decorative buckles/straps on boots or sandals, or enclose it in its sleep-time wristband to wrap the FB One around my ankle., or clipped or slipped into clothing with pockets, such as jeans or cargo pants. When I'm awake, both wrists are filled with a MedicAlert band & a watch; sometimes bracelets, too, which is another reason (beside cost) that I've stayed with the FB One & not upgraded to a newer model.

It would be nice to have an option to have a ankle band on the fit bit. I have a job that I cannot wear a fit bit on my wrist. The only option I have is wear it on my bra or undies. Therefore the step count is very inaccurate. Please if you can make a band for the ankle that would be great!! Thank so much!!

Also if you do other activities such as spinning and biking the step count would have a Better accuracy on steps as well!!

How abt designing an feminine ankle bracelet flex. Since we r monitoring steps it's easier for me to wear on my ankle instead of my wrist. For now I wear the larger wrist band on my ankle, but it is bulky and looks like i am on house arrest🤗Anyway just a thought. Have a great day!!

I have been wearing my blaze around my ankle with a hair band. I saw a DRASTIC increase in my daily step count. my problem is I spent 200 on the blaze because I love the display. Wearing it on my ankle makes me wish I had bought a cheap one since I have lost all display capabilities by wearing it on my ankle. You should make a tracker that you wear on your ankle but it syncs to a display you wear on your wrist. You would have the capability to check your steps throughout the day but you would also be able to get the more accurate step count.

I'm a diehard Fitbit owner & have 4 models. Over the years I've found it is just plain inconvenient to wear the device on your wrist. If you talk with your hands your number is inflated, if you carry things like an umbrella or a child while out walking or push a carriage, it doesn't count enough steps. I've modified all of my bands by attaching an elastic hair band to them to wear around my ankle. It isn't pretty, but it counts accurately. I've done many tests manually counting to compare & the accuracy is there. I just wish the band was large enough to fit around my ankle without having to modify it. I'd also like it to be slimmer & perhaps a bit more inconspicuous by making the accessory band options in fabric or cording so it doesn't look like I'm an escaped convict with a locator on my ankle. 🙂 Lastly, keeping features like clock, steps, distance, floors, & call/text notifications are extremely important. It would be wonderful if the device automatically displayed the notifications when they happen rather than having to tap it. A button for easy viewing is also helpful. Thanks & I hope ankle devices/accessories can happen soon!

That's a great idea....but devils advocate here....Sorry...You mentioned, you like the info on the band and the notifications, I'm assuming including callers. If the device is on your ankle...how the heck do you read the display? Just a thought....I really do like your idea though! 😊
I have had several devices myself....the step count, distance, heart rate (chargeHR), activity are NEVER correct. The step count and distance are especially annoying that they are only about HALF of my actual stats. 😡

I do the same thing with my alta...never get all my steps counted when on my wrist..but I only do my ankle when I am going shopping or working in the yard..thought of getting me a flex just for my ankle.

ISO1, I completely agree..reading the display from your ankle will be a bit cumbersome for something like a call. However, I was thinking of the functionality more from the standpoint of deciphering between call & other things. For example, I just got a nifty new Aria. Loved the slim design & as I said I modified it to wear it on my ankle. If I get a call/text, it gives 2 REALLY short little vibrate blips that I totally miss compared to my Charge (really wish it buzzed like the Charge did). On the occassion that I do catch the buzz though, I can't simply tilt my leg to see what the screen says, I have to tap it. The same things happens when I've reached my goal..same blips, no display. It would be great if I could simply look down & read the display when the buzz happens to know which situation it is for. Likewise, it would be great if I could tilt & see the clock.

I'm sorry you're having such trouble with getting accurate readings. Way, way back when I got my 1st Fitbit I had the same issue. After adjusting the settings to what arm I wore it on, adding my stats & measuring my stride to enter in, I haven't had a problem since. Have you looked at those settings?

ISO1

Your idea sound cool.😊

I have adjusted my stride. I even used a distance measuring wheel to get a
better more accurate count 100 steps=200'. 24" stride. I've tried to adjust
from there, up and down. Nothing has worked, it only gets worse.

I just purchased a competitors device. I count 100 steps wearing both (new
device and chargeHR). My new device is exactly right, while my charger says
I've walked 62 steps. The more vigorously I walk, the LESS accurate it
gets. Slower I walk the count is better. I'm not a slow walking person.
I've tried changing my dominant hand, it doesn't help either.

I believe the issue is, FitBit has set stride length algorithms, with a
limit on stride. My stride must fall outside of their parameters. I'm well
under 5' tall (4'8.5"), so I'm out of the range I think.

I've spoken with several tech support people at FitBit. They send me new
devices, I keep telling them my device isn't broken, a new device will do
the exact same thing. It's their calculation values that aren't allowing me
to get even 75% accuracy.
Not everyone is over 5'! Or whatever their cut off stride length is. 😢
I just wish they would broaden their parameters for people who are left
out.

I would LOVE this!! I have a Charge HR XL so that it fits my ankle, but I do look like I'm on house arrest. However the steps are much more accurate. Now I don't get steps from brushing my hair or teeth, but I do get steps while pushing a shopping cart or mowing my lawn!! If they made a version that was specifically for the ankle I would buy it right away! Maybe they could have one that has an ankle and wrist combo? So you get your notifications from your wrist but the steps from you ankle? Just a thought.

I LOVE this idea. Fitbit definitely has to work on accuracy. It's so frustrating to push a shopping cart around for 20 minutes & not have it count towards your goal. I would buy the ankle version in a second. Maybe they can pair the ankle version to the wrist version so you can get your step count on the run? IDK, but I'd be happy if I could just get the results accurately & on my phone.

Wrist based Fitbits do seem wildly inaccurate (or at least all my Charges have been) but the One is super-accurate. I'm generally wearing jeans so almost always have a pocket to clip it into so rarely have to resort to clipping it to my bra.

I'm intrigued though, isn't it uncomfortable having a tracker round your ankle? And doesn't it restrict your footwear choices?
