Ankle mode

Please make one u wear on ankle then u would get all the steps. When u are in a store with carts such as grocery, target etc it won't record all the walking one is doing with a cart. I have to try and push with one hand!! They can have pretty but functionally ankle devices some can be practically for a guy and pretty like an ankle bracelet for a women!!! Please develop this!! Soon!!

@ISO1 have ypu set your stride yet?

@BarbieN unless you have a srcond tracker on a second Fitbit account. One for the leg and one fir the wrist. And you really need to compare for a minimum of several weeks. You wont have usable data.

Just a note, the standard is a body mounted tracker that clips to the waist which has been proven to be most accurate.

The problem with moving the tracker off the arm,  is that there is no way to tell Fitit that and they will process the data as if it is on the arm.

When it comes to the Flex 2, there are sensors in thedifferent mouts to reprogram the algorithms.

@Rich_Laue     I am currently using the BLAZE and find that it isn't accurate in my walking distances and running is even worse.   This morning I walked 4 miles and it registered not quite 3 miles.  I was thinking that it was because I wasn't swinging my arms regularly or something.  I know the distance is 4 miles as I bike that same route and also on mapmyrun it shows as 4 miles.  I thought perhaps by putting it on my ankle it might be more accurate.

Trying to use miles to tell the accuracy of step count will not work To test ste0 accuracy you want to go for a walk while counting your steps and then compare to the tracker. Distance is calculated on two things, if either is off then the distance will be also.

You can buy an attachment to put on your band to fit on your ankle!! Works great or at times I have the fitbit flex and I take it out of the wrist band and just put that in my sock!! Works great!!

As a mum, I clock up the majority of steps pushing a buggy and a shopping trolley. I have been doing some experiments and the steps recorded accuracy is down 40-60% when doing these activities, basically, because the wrist is stationery on the handle.

I have started wearing my Fitbit on my ankle, but look as though I have just come out of prison! Please design one that looks nice! Surely mums are a huge part of your target demographic?!

I have seen this in the forums before.. but thought it should be brought up again.

Ankle straps.  for ALL fitbits

some people that are outside every day do not like the funky tan lines they get for wearing a wrist tracker.   if it straps to the ankle that odd tan line is easier to hide/deal with

I've lost count how many times I've contacted Fitbit to request they make a Fitbit Ankle Strap for my Fitbit Flex and ALL Fitbits. Particularly for those who are more interested in just steps rather than distance. I've actually designed and made my own ankle strap now for my Fitbit Flex which works perfectly. Come on Fitbit! Answer the call of your customers!

Most of us work on feet staying while moving our hands around which actually counts as steps! Dont you find that annoying even that you did not even step one foot down for an hour and it shows that you did xxx's steps- it was your hands' fault for counting!

I have been using strings and attach my fitbit on my ankle even that it dont fit- I cover it up with my socks to keep it there.

MUCH improvement! It only tracks my steps.  Plus it records my heart beating by having it attach to my skin.

Not just clip thing- it can be easily forgotten, just need something that actually HOLD while you take shoes off and walk around, sleep with it and all.

Definitely agree. I don't move my arms much during my cardio workouts (trained myself not to do I can focus on balance and leg strength), the wrist counter was logging about 30-40% less distance on treadmill and elliptical, and when Im at work I hold a macbook in my left arm, Wrist is completely inaccurate and ankle probably isn't completely accurate either without a proper setting.

Completely agree with this. Drying my hair or brushing my hair is not a step!!

I've been wearing my Flex on my ankle for almost a year now. And my step count has been much more accurate. I purchased several holders from a third party seller on Amazon. It is made up of silicone and magnets and it clips on. During the winter I slip the pebble into it and clip it onto my socks and during the summer or if I'm wearing a dress I punched two holes in the silicone and threaded it onto a sterling silver ankle bracelet. I've also used the elastic that is used for making stretchy bracelets because I can make it as small or large as I need it to be. If  I'm wearing a dress, I'll slip it above my knee and no one can even see it. It works great! I like the flex, I'm really only interested in tracking my steps, active  minutes and calories. I've given up hope that Fitbit even listens to our suggestions so I made my own solution!!!

Im a hairstylist, and I have to be very careful when I'm blowdrying, brushing, and shampooing hair because my arm movements are counted as steps.  I've increased my daily step goals hoping this will help compensate for my "extra" steps while working. So an ankle tracker really would be helpful!!

I was thinking about doing this recently so I agree.

It could improve accuracy.

For those of you that want a pocket sock, I found them last year online. I bought them for Christmas gifts. Company is zipitgear.com. They have dress and sports socks. Originally designed for money and credit cards but will hold your Fitbit tracker too.

Really hope we get ankle Fitbits soon! I know my Original Flex Fitbit won't last forever. I've been wearing it as an ankle fitbit for 3 years. I have gone through a few bands but tracker keeps on tracking. 🙂

So I'm curious...  if the problem is that the Fitbit doesn't pick up the steps when you don't move your arms, instead of wearing it on your ankle, why not just get one of the clip-on models (Zip or One) and keep it in your pocket?

How many comments does it need before we see a product. Almost 4 years?? I'd buy 2!

PureEvil - the reason I'm not getting one of the clip on models is that I've already purchased the blaze so wanted to work with that instead of purchasing something new.  I have been able to make it fit on my ankle with the band that I purchased through amazon so it works just fine for me now.

I've tried that but when I change clothes after work I forget it is in my pocket and it ends up in the laundry or I loose a lot of steps because it is not in my current pocket. It's  just easier to attach it to one of my ankle bracelets and wear it all the time. I just take it off to shower or swim.

I have resorted to making my own ankle strap from material which has a press stud pocket in it to keep my Fitbit keep my Fitbit secure and fixes around my ankle with another press stud fastener. Steps far more accurate.

I am notorious for forgetting things in my pockets and washing them so i couldn't agree with you more. Plus, i already paid for my flex and i want to continue using it. They should just make the product we want...it's money in their pocket.

Thank you Celliot. I guys I'll have to check out that website for a sock with a pocket since fitbit doesn't seem to be listening to anyone.

The thing is, if Fitbit don't listen to their customers, another company will cash in on the idea and either design and make an ankle Fitbit holder or bring out a new ankle fitness tracker with holder which will probably fly off the shelves. What's the saying, know your market & customers!
