Bring back the old sleep summary page

When I had my Charge 5 and the first few weeks of having my Charge 6 the app would give me a sleep summary page with, Sleep Stages, Time in each stage, Oxygen levels and Bedtime and wakeup all on a handy page. Since a recent update I now seem to get a much more basic three tiles and I have to open each one and look through for all the information.

I concur with the multitude of other Fitbit users who are profoundly unhappy with the redesigned sleep graphic.  It does not display information in a usable manner the way the old data display did.

Just return the sleep display to the previous format & voila!  You’ll have satisfied customers.

and next time your software engineers get the bright idea to mix things up, please test sample with real world users to spare all of us this debacle happening again.

Why take something that works great and upgrade it beyond practical usability? New sleep schedule is clumsy, cluttered, and irritating! Please bring back the previous display!

I downloaded Google Fit but it is asking me to connect "a sleep tracking
app" for the sleep portion. Huh? I log into fitbit with my google
email/password. What more do they need? What am I missing here? This has
morphed into insanity!!

Agree completely, it’s horrid and unreadable. What are y’all doing with so many downgrades? It’s as if you’re purposely driving your customers away with crap statistics. I want a refund of my premium subscription STAT!

I agree with the other comments.  The new Sleep Timeline is confusing and doesn't show what time the various sleep events occurred.  PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD SLEEP TIMELINE!!

I absolutely HATE the new sleep display. Please bring back the old red and blue. This new one is unreadable unusable leave **ahem** alone!

I agree, just awful!  Totally confusing and overly complex.   It was so easy to absorb the information at a glance before.

Definitely want a return to the old sleep format. This report was one of my main uses of the Fitbit and the new one is not nearly as user friendly.

I agree completely about the awful new sleep section of the app. It doesn't work properly. As well as the other horrible features (ridiculous graphs, etc), it is inaccurate. Then when I go to log a correction manually, it shows the accurate times (different then the graph) or not but won't let me change anything or add naps. It is really almost useless. I add to all the others' complaints. As accurate sleep data is important to me, I may need to look at trackers in the market.

It appears to me that the comment @Sallymarie1 posted solves all of this for us Android users.  It certainly did for me.

"Yesterday I tried finding out if I could use a different app with my fitbit to get better sleep stats again. I downloaded Google Fit and Google Health Connect. To get these to work, I had to make multiple attempts at signing into my Fitbit app with my Google account. Now today I can see my sleep stats the old way in my Fitbit app! Awesome! But does anyone know if this is the case for everyone, or is it because I signed in with Google? I'd rather remove the Google sign in if I can, but don't want to muck up the sudden reappearance of the sleep stats!"

Perhaps this thread should be closed and a new one started for the iPhone users in order to cut down on the noise.

As with many others I’m very disappointed with the updates of Fitbit. I’ve been using Fitbit for years and have much enjoyed the ease and clarity of keeping track of all selected features……not anymore! I’m very annoyed every time I open it to check to see my exercise or sleeping or whatever… you have downgraded your product…if it’s not fix very soon I’ll be buying a new watch…NOT FITBIT!

you asked me to correct errors and add information… I’m using the newest Lux it is working just fine the problem is on your end with the updated display. 1. The colours are not bright and easy to distinguish from one another. 2. The exercise displays are just not a quick easy to see and see the results of the exercise. 3. The sleep display is really difficult to get the Quick Look and understand how the sleep pattern unfolded throughout the night. I also have a feeling that the beginning of the night is not always accurate. 4. Please on your part go back and look at the difference of before and after updates!  Things don’t always need to be updated to a new look.

Normally I'd get out the pitchfork along with everyone else when a UI drastically changes, but I don't see what everyone's so upset about. Am I missing something here?

  • BOTH pre and post show your total sleep and score near the top.
  • Both show your timeline of stages for the night. Pre-update was more visually appealing, but actuality provides less information on its own (requiring the bar graph under it)
  • If you still want to see your stage totals with percentages as a bar graph, you can just view either one of the other tabs, Benchmark or 30 Day Average.
  • They tucked the oxygen variation graph behind a button. Not a big deal.

All in all I don't think it's a bad update. Although, I agree the colors are dreadfully boring (wish we had a few themes to change this). I also wish the padding between each section was a little more compact so that I could easily send someone a screenshot of my sleep stats (the floating 'log sleep' button is usually blocking something).

I don’t know if you have an apple or a droid… but I can no longer read any
of the data on the sleep analytics since the new upgrade. The old one was
much much better. And normally I love tech updates. But this sucks. And
they won’t fix it. It is useless the way it is now.

Health metrics with my app FitBit ver 3.90 does not work anymore. Am I the only one with this problem or they broke old version as well?

I’ve used a Fitbit since it began, always with Apple hardware. I can’t get the Fitbit app to remain on my device any longer. I have to go through a reinstall of the app each time I want to check my data. Since the changes they’ve made to the data is not too useful anyway, particularly sleep, I’m looking to find a new tracker more like the original Fitbit. Sorry I can’t be helpful, perhaps they will get some tech help to help them get this back on track.

I’m in a similar problem to you. The app stays on my device but it might as well not be. On top of the sleep data problems now I have problems with the exercise data. I just drove back from a short holiday yesterday - a drive of 2 hrs 20mins. According to my app I went for a 20min walk half way through the drive. The day before I had a 2 hr cycle ride, 16.2 kilometres recorded as a 25 min ride of 0.66 kls even though my heart rate stats graph showed the ride with 32 mins of rigorous exercise and 1hr 16 mins of moderate exercise. Nothing adds up anymore - it is just throwing out random data.

I really wish the app wouldn’t stay on my device as that would make the decision to call it a day with Fitbit/ Google that much easier but after 10years it’s a hard wrench but there comes a time when you have to say ‘enough is enough’.

100% agree. I struggle to read the graph and find the whole experience extremely frustrating and unpleasant.

Please bring back the old sleep app. I used to check mine everyday but now it’s so hard to read I don’t bother anymore. Starting to not love my Fitbit.

I have no data of my heart rate while sleeping. I used to have this before the last update. I haven’t cared for the ascetics since the update before that but loosing important data that i once had (and they can provide) is whats frustrating for me.
