DiegoPG they won't be able to add the call text notifications to Windows 8.1. Microsoft is only adding the capability to Windows 10 Fitbit need. So you will need to upgrade your Lumia 1020 to Windows 10 mobile anniversary update and then Fitbit will have to release an updated app. Hopefully they do this soon.
Got brand new fitbit Alta... And doesn't sync with my Nokia Lumia 930... Hope this gets sorted asap and gets the calls and text alerts up and running asap too
I just got an Alta and was very disappointed to learn that the phone, text and calendar notifications are not available for the Windows phone. Please add this feature soon!!
This is not new. I'm not able to vote on the ideas above, so I'll just post this as a separate comment. It's great to hear that Fitbit is working on adding the above features for Windows phone, but it does seem to be taking a long time. I have my doubts ...
I bought the Fitbit Surge because Windows Phone compatibility was promised. I was very much looking forward to the Silent Alarm for incoming calls and appointment reminders. If those were added I'd become a very loyal customer. As is, I'm looking around for alternatives all the time.
I just got the Fitbit Alta and now I find out that I can not get my texts or caller ID on it. That was one of the reasons that I did buy it. No where on the box does it say that my windows phone will not work this the Fitbit Alta. The box says that it works with windows. So will there be a fix coming sometime soon? I hope there is because if not this is really misleading.
Dear Fitbit developers team, as a project manager in IT (app development) sector, I know that continously development, bug fixing and adding new features to app isn't so easy job. When onw bug is fixed by another bug 🙂 but please as a lot of users before me I want to ask you for implement notification for Windows phone platform. I have more fitbit deviceces Aria, 2 flexes, Charge HR and Charge 2 and all on Windows phone platforms and one of the mail reason for buyings was Windos Phone platform support. I know that iPhone users looks like premium and more attractive users for you, for example I'm Premium account user too. I hope you try to do your best for implementing notifications into Windows Phone platform. Thank you in advance.
I had a WP8 (925 & 640) and was told, by Fitbit I believe, that it isn't sorted and that I would need a phone that had Windows 10. I have now paid out for a 950 only to find out that it too doesn't support text and caller notification on the Fitbit Surge 2. I am incredibly disappointed. I may have to go elsewhere sadly
I just exchanged my Band 2 for a Fitibit Blaze and am very surprised that such a basic feature as text and call notifications aren't available from my Lumia 950. I hope this really is coming soon, since this thread is now a goot two (!) years old.
I doubt that the Blaze will ever sync with a windows phone that is not running at least Windows 10. But as someone who went for a good 6 months with the Blaze and Windows phone, then switched to the iPhone, the notifications really aren't all that helpful. I mean, if you're within BlueTooth range of your phone, you hear it ring anyway, right? The bad thing was not the lack of notifications, but the fact that the Blaze will not sync with the FitBit app on the Lumia. They should at least make THAT possible.
I have a Win10 phone, so hopefully that will come soon. I've since learnt that it's not FitBit that's the problem, but Microsoft's support fo the Bluetooth notification API (GATT) in Win 10. Hopefully Microsoft will ship that soon (although I might just to iPhone before they do).
Since I always have my phone on silent, I found the text and email notifications on my Band invaluable. It allowed me to keep my phone in my pocket without taking it out to see whether I needed to handle the text immediately. And it totally saved me from missing lots of calls, since the vibration in my pocket would often go unnoticed (while walking, for example), but the wrist vibration did not.
The Blaze sync's just fine with my Lumia 950 running Win10. The Fitbit app works great.
I know that the Windows phone app does not have notifications due to lack of GATT servers in Windows 10 Mobile OS right now. I read that MS is working to fix this so I would like the ability for notifications to come to Windows phone once MS release a compatible OS version.
I would like notifications for:
Action Centre
Facebook
Facebook Messenger
Skype
LINE
Email
Calendar
Basically, exactly what the Band 2 does do is what Fitbit doesn't yet do for Windows phone. With the Band now disbanded Fitbit should step up and give feature partity to Windows phone users the same as they give iOS and Android.
Just got Charge 2 to replace both my three year old Zip and my two year old Microsoft Band that had stopped working. I miss the text messaging from the Band. I'm hoping that this can be added to your Windows 10 app. Microsoft is currently integrating Skype with SMS messaging and perhaps that would be good opportunity for integration from a development standpoint. Thanks
Just bought a charge 2, happy with it but gutted to see it will not send text and call notifications through from my lumia 950, this thread has been going some time, how much longer to work this out? Surely this can't be beyond the wit of man!!
Just got a Charge 2 for a gift from my wife. She said she thought it notifications worked with my Windows phone because she read it works with Window 10. Guess what, it doesn't (if you are here you already realize that). If notifications are important to you on your FitBit, do not get one.
