I had a watch I got on Amazon for $40. It checked oxygen real time, I even checked its accuracy with an oximeter. Almost perfect. I gave the watch away when I got my Sense. Mistake.
I agree! As I've said before, even though I'm a Premium member, I'd pay for an on-demand oxygen app. It's hard to believe someone there doesn't know that!
Thanks, this is the first time that I posted. I have noticed that this is an often-requested feature. Is Fitbit going to listen to its user base? This seems to be a popular request for years now. The technology is widely available so I know that it can be incorporated into Fitbit. Will it be in a new device? If so, when? I am going to be needing a new watch soon and the one I chose will have it. I have been using Fitbit for a long time. I do not wish to give up all my history, but this is an especially important feature for me.
I think the Sense 2 has oxygen saturation on demand. But my Sense 1 is only a few months old. I won't be changing for a while. Maybe they'll listen to us after the initial sales of the new product have blown over.
The description in the sales material is very careful to not actually say that. And those of us who've bought Fitbit's (many of us more than one) believing 'hints' that we'd have on demand or real time SPO2 have so far been 'disappointed'. Of course, livid might be a better word. As far as I know, multiple models of Fitbit have the needed sensors. Quite a few other brands, some super cheap, have it. We don't. So maybe yes for S2, maybe not. But I've heard nothing to suggest that existing models can't do it, we all just know that for whatever reason they don't. You may want to wait several months - even if they plan to, it might not be there on day 1. And who knows, maybe they'll suddenly do the right thing!
FYI, I've never, ever heard anyone at Fitbit ever explain in plain English why we don't have it.
Fitbit has been ignoring requests in these forums since long before Google bought them. And specs / descriptions for new watches may lead one to think that they are getting more than they really will, IMHO. They do innovate, they just don't give us what we actually ask for or think we're getting. So the S2 SPO2 description is super vague, as to what and when. And, as they do make clear, don't make medical decisions based on what you think you see from your watch. For instance, I can lie in bed wide awake for hours and my watch thinks that I'm sleeping, or, just the opposite, I can be sound asleep, low heart rate (normal in sleep) and the watch decides I'm awake. I eventually figured out that it uses heart rate and wrist movement, and sometimes wrists move while one is sleeping.
As to SPO2, I'm absolutely mystified as to why we can't get a real sleep SPO2 chart instead of the mystery chart, or real time readings, such as when we are exercising. That info is useful, and it's not practical to walk or run while wearing a finger clip. And most times when I get some sort of comment from them, it's got nothing to do with my questions.
I wish I'd read all these comments before buying my Charge 5, so stupid of me. How can a tracker, that purports to be one of the best, not have real time oxygen saturation readings? As someone with COPD and other lung-related issues, I need to know my saturation when I'm mobile, not just when I'm sleeping. Although there's really no danger of my oxygen dropping at night so really it's pretty pointless to know what my saturation is because I know it will always be good. Not so when I'm mobile...I need to monitor what it's doing. How hard can it be to make it real time anyway? Seriously, what an incredible disappointment...I bought this thing mainly for the saturation reading. And the fact they don't seem to have taken any steps to satisfy their customers, as demonstrated by the fact these complaints go back to 2020, is even more disappointing.
I agree whole-heartedly. If only they knew how much trouble it is to have to stop in the middle of an activity and go track down an oximeter because you need to know what your saturation is.
When I bought my Versa, it was first and foremost for the supposed real time capability. The sales material made me think so. It was replaced by a Sense because sleep monitoring was a mess - which I later realized was more software related. I got a bit off but I'm sure they made lots of profit. And sleep monitoring is still a lot like rolling dice, IMHO. And still no SPO2.
And I need it for pretty much the reasons you need it.
And now, S2 material I've read looks again like it's got real time SPO2. But if you comment here, they either ignore you or eliminate your comment. As far I know, the SPO2 sensor ability is physically the same (though there's some other new sensor), so if S2 were to get realtime, there's no obvious good reason for the original S to not get it. Of course, the language in the sales material was just vague enough one has no sure idea what it has.
I think I may have started this thread. Finally gave up on FitBit anencephaly it became obvious that they did mot care about customer needs. Many newer and more expensive models have come out, but none I sm aware of give real time oxygen readings. I finally bought what I needed.
Intraday SpO2 data returns during around sleep times. Are there any plans on making SpO2 tracking available for the entire day in detailed granularity?
To get the most accurate reading, SpO2 is recorded while a person is still and sleeping. However, that is a great enhancement request that I'm sure others would be interested in seeing. I'm going to move your request to our Feature Suggestion board. We encourage others to vote on features they would like to see in the devices.
