I totally Agree. Why can't fitbit, after 2 YEARS just talk to us. Why won't the activate the SPo2 on demand feature? Instead they just give us the same canned responses over and over and move the thread. Look at this thread. It was created on Sept 18 2020 which was over 2 years ago. They have to know we want it. Just tell us why? I just makes me angry too.
If one can get it on Amazon in a $40 watch, surely Fitbit can make it work in a $300 watch.
What I don't understand is why they won't at least explain to us why they won't let us have it. Their reps say they will answer questions - but clearly, only ones they want to answer.

I just bought sense2, and trying different features. I am surprised that this does not have on-demand SpO2. Why do we need to sleep with it to get SpO2? Please bring it back.... or it may be time to try Apple Watch!
We've all been wondering about that the last few years, and Fitbit won't explain it, even though other vendors provide real, usable SPO2 readouts. As to the sleep O2, we get a mystery variance chart, and sometimes hidden on the watch an overnight range.
As to S2, it appears to be a seriously downgraded version of the original Sense. It adds something that means nothing to me, turns off wifi (despite having the hardware), eliminates features I may not use but plenty of other people do. IMHO, that's why it's so cheap to buy already., about $5 less than the original. While the original's button is a pain, and of course, lacks viable SPO2 capability (software), overall it seems to be a far better watch than the S2. My guess is that Google wanted it downgraded to get people to buy Google branded watches.
Not long ago I asked questions about the SPO2 issues, and my posting was removed, and a rep told me to ask her directly. I did so, and as expected, she never answered.
Well, for all the good it will do, I'll add my name to the hundreds of others that have requested the "on demand" SPO2 feature. If the sensor is already in the watch, it makes no sense that I can't get an instant reading, as I can with ECG and EDA. I originally thought that the Charge 5 had this capability, and am disappointed that the reviews of this watch (and the FitBit web site) did not state that it did not. I can still return my watch for about 30 more days...
How do we know if R&D is including this on-demand SpO2 in any of the future updates? Do they share atleast what is coming in the next update? Or are we going to be asked to buy another Sense 3 to see this feature? How does this work?
It's how they introduced the latest Sense2 a few months back and it worked for them.
They simply stated that Sense 2 would have SPO2 support and left it to the viewers to interpret as they wanted to. Those who chose to think it meant "on demand" bought one. Only then discovering it wasn't "on demand".....but maybe the next one will...
If you are going for Sense, go for the original - S2 has certain abilities blocked, like wifi. But like other Fitbit's, the only SPO2 data you get is an overnight average and range along with a mystery variance chart. We are all quite mystified as to why they won't give us on demand and / or real-time when that is otherwise a common ability now in all price ranges.
has anyone tried turning off your watch and turning it back on, or letting it restart? At least in the morning, it forces an O2 measurement. I haven't tried it while exercising. I wonder if that is where they are going with their investigation?
What investigation? If they have a weakness in their efforts to block owners from getting any viable use of the spo2 sensor, I'd imagine that they;d be happy to 'fix' it. Though it's not practical to reboot your watch just to get one spo2 reading. Just out of curiosity, how do you actually see that post reboot reading?
I frequently don't have an SPO2 when I first get up in the morning. If I restart the watch (left touch button in center of watch and the one directly across, it restarts and suddenly I have an SPO2. I just did it at ~3 pm and it told me it was last nights reading. So, no, it didn't work once I already had a reading. It was worth a try! D
I was sure, by getting the ads about Sense 2, that SpO2 is on-demand, but now I feel scammed with it. If the device can measure it, why this feature is only at night?
