Dynamic retrieval and display of all daily nutrition values

Here is an opportunity for Fitbit project managers and developers to provide a greatly needed service to their device users, many of which would appreciate Fitbit’s assistance in managing their health.

Many of the users of Fitbit devices have real health issues and have to monitor different elements of their nutritional intake throughout the day. Other users have also voiced their desire to have a dynamically viewable recap of just where they stand at any point in the day.

Individuals with heart issues quite often need to be aware of their sodium intake or risk heart failure. And if truth be told, everyone else should be a little more aware of their sodium intake, as well.

Diabetics and pre-Diabetics need to keep abreast of their sugar intake throughout the day, not just at the day end. And for anyone wanting to lose a little, or even a lot, of weight should be watching their sugar intake, because what sugar cannot be used by muscles gets stored as fat.

Many people are literally afraid to eat out with friends or family sometimes because they are not positive about their current daily intake of a particular nutrient. Many spur-of-the-moment social opportunities are lost because they don’t know their current sodium or sugar totals for the day.

Why not, from the food log page of the Fitbit app have the Macronutrients icon be a touchable hotspot that would display this:

Daily Totals.png

The data in the graphic represents my actual intake on 1/19/2018 with the exception of vitamin and other base elements, but all of the information is available for quick retrieval from the Fitbit servers. And to quote Fitbit, “Your data belongs to you!”

I personally would be quite happy if that is all that was done, and as a first release it would be great. But it would be totally feasible to incorporate other requests for allowing the entry of target values for many of the nutrients shown in the label above. Values such as Calories, Carbs, Protein and Sodium. A new column next to “% Daily Value” called “Your Target” or just “Target” could be added.

Thank you Fitbit for having the Custom Foods creation capability that allowed be to create a food that actually represents my booked food totals for 1/19/2018.

I would love to see the B vitamins nutrition content for the foods I enter. More nutritional info for all the foods would be wonderful. I use the app because I have Lupus and can stay on the diet and lifestyle my doc recommends. More nutrition info would make that easier.

I look forward to hearing if this is in the works already or if it’s something you’d consider adding. Thank you for taking the time to read the suggestion.

It would be really useful if I was able to track nutrients other than cabrs, fat, and protein in the app. For medical reasons, it is more important to me to be able to easily track my fiber intake. Other apps I use allow users to choose which nutrient info they see on their dashboard in the app. I'd like to see that in the fitbit app as well. For example, instead of showing me my macros in the food log, let me customize it so that I'm shown my fat, fiber, and sugar intake.

You currently only show complete macronutruients if you log on via the website. You have updated the iOS to get percentages and grams but it would be nice to have all the information on the apps. If you're on a Keto diet, its important to see fiber information so that you can calculate your net carbs. Its not possible to do that now unless you are constantly logged on via the web. That makes the mobile apps not very useful when it comes to food logging.

@Criscb Thanks for your suggestion about having complete macronutrients on the Fitbit app.

I moved it to this thread because it is the same idea.

It would be more convenient than referring to my desktop and i presume easier for most users.  If it is on desktop there should be a way to view on mobile device. Please do this asap!  Fat. Fiber. Protein. Carbs.  Thanks!

For the next update please add sections for breakdown other than the macros. For example salt, calcium, sugar etc. It will be easier for people with health conditions to find their values rather than looking at the nutrition values for each item they put in.

Is there a way or if there isn’t it would be really good if there is a way to see all the nutritional information for the food you have logged for the day, much like how the app tells you how many calories you have left for the day. Failing this even to have a break down of how much sugar or fat etc you have logged for the day could be viewed. I can’t seem to find how to do this on the app or any guidance online.

Hi, I would like the ability to check my fibre intake, at a glance, whilst using the app.

The macro wheel is very useful, but it really does need fibre adding to it, especially as I am at a pc so very infrequently.

I’ve lost over 50 pounds and am far more physically fit thanks to my Ionic. I tell everyone including my doctor that my Ionic has changed my life and it has. I enter every single thing I eat and track my macronutrients and calorie deficits religiously. Always wonder if I’m getting even close to my USDA recommend minimum requirements. Add a table of these requirements in a report. All of the recommended daily ones.  Then expand the food database to report what we eat. Ultimately, I could look at a report each day and see the minimum recommended requirements, what I consumed and, thus, see if my consumption is at least meeting the minimums or am I deficient in one or more micros. The database and software already collects the data, it just needs to go a level deeper. No one else does it. Great for us and a big way for Fitbit to stand out from the now crowded smart watch field.

I add me to the list of people wanting to see Saturated Fats and Sugar split out, seems odd you can add all this to new foods when you enter them but then don't get a total anywhere when you log them.

Currently looking for another app as I need this to help lower my Cholesterol.

Please upgrade the Fitbit app to add fiber in the macro nutrients. I shouldn’t have to log into Fitbit.com to see this total. Thank you

I was going to say the exact same thing. Although you upgraded to add
carbs to the app, you didnt add fiber. Which means you still have to log in
to get your net carbs!
