Edit Time of Daily Reset of Stats / Add Nightshift

Hi, It would be great if users could change the daily reset of stats to a different hour. We night owls who go sleep late after midnight now have to calculate the differences in our heads and that's not ideal. Thanks!

There are many of us out there that work night shifts for a part of the week. It would be very helpful if you could add a work schedule feature in the app so as the device knows why I’m sleeping during the day and walking all night. This would let me track my days more efficiently and not having to calculate stats outside of the app.

Thank you.

Wii Fit may have spoiled me by giving me the option of having my day start at 3 am (when virtually all sane people are in bed), as opposed to 12 am, an arbitrary time based on our clock, for which it is not so very rare for people to be up past. I now want this for my FitBit, where I sometimes find myself squeezing in a workout around midnight, and thus end up with a meaningless step-count by the day, even if it averages out over the week.

While for the sake of competition, perhaps such changes should be limited, I would even hope that since FitBit isn't limited to a video game interface like Wii Fit, it would allow the user to choose any hour of the day. I'm sure this feature would be useful to night workers, for example.

Would be nice for night shift workers to choose when their steps reset rather than being forced to reset at midnight (middle of work day)

There needs to be a method to change what time Fitbit starts the day. I start my shift exactly at midnight when the next day starts. I understand why the Fitbit is set to this but there does need to be an option to have this adjusted. It is hard to keep trying to get healthier when the tracker and app like to tell you how you failed because you went over your calories because you haven't burned any yet. I then have to spend the entire time playing catch up to try to get enough calories burned to equal the damage done. The other problem is when working overnight, you are awake longer so chances are high that you are awake to eat a 4th meal, which makes it even more challenging to make up the deficit. When checking for other requests for this feature, there were at least 300 people wishing to have this feature and it was locked. Please reconsider, our health depends on it. Most who work overnight are often forgotten about, would Fitbit please change that?

I work at an emergency pet clinic and my schedule varies from week day to weekend, but either way I generally work over night. so while I may have done 4,000 steps before midnight by 2 am I am looking my fitbit and only having moved 1,000.  I would like to see something where we can customize our active hours to our specific needs for our work/personal life. This would also include having to change a normal sleeping time as well, but I would just be happy right now to see how many steps I make in one shift of my work "day". when I get off at 2am, 3am, 4am, or 8am.

A percentage of your employed customers will be working through the midnight hour and the only way for those like me to get a accurate daily average, is to sit down and do the math every day, which is absurd. This will cause me to look elsewhere the next time I need a new tracker, and I’m sure others have too. (I have a bad habit of losing/breaking trackers)

Browsing through the older feature suggestions and there complaints makes me wonder, what’s the companies real intended purpose of this section; is it supporting their customers with the features they need/want, or is it just a free idea pool for the company to comb through for ideas that they feel might make them more money?

I’m posting this suggestion again because I found the last post for this feature was closed out. That post was started over 3 years ago, had over 30 pages of comments, and 1388 votes for it but was ignored, much as I assume this will be also.

The ability to choose a specific time of day the Fitbit resets to zero, as opposed to only doing so at midnight. A lot of people are shift workers, so having all the information for their 'day' being stored in 2 separate places can be very inconvenient.

I work shift work, specifically 2100-0730. The app is frustrating as it cannot properly track my shift - it is geared towards 9-5, M-F workers. Can Fitbit create/allow for modified schedules? Perhaps a “Nightshift” option?

I work 12 hour overnights 6p-6a every other month. It would be nice to be able to change my steps, food log, water and exercise over so that they reset at noon, because that's my midnight. I can't use the activity reminders every hour because they are from 12a-12p. These features would make it more user friendly for people who dont have banker hours.

Hi @Rshue, thanks for explaining why you would like to have this option. I've moved it into a similar. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs.

Please allow us to start the day at a chosen hour. This suggestion previously got a lot of traction and was locked for some reason, yet in the post locking it, Lanuza mentions doing so in order to "...continue to track community demand over time". I do not see how you can adequately do this with the thread being locked.

I hope that you guys can once again consider implementing this suggestion, people working night shift already deal with a myriad of inconveniences on a day to day basis, why should a fitness tracking product apply further restrictions?

Let's make it so we can adjust when our days start for those working night shift. The day ending at midnight is inconvenient for those of us who work overnight.  People have been asking for this for over 5 years. If you can change the Period Tracker in less than 5 months, surely your engineers are smart enough to easily change the program so I can adjust my own 24 Hour period

Miceli

Certain features such as hourly activity goals force the user to stay within the 24 hours set by day. I work midnights and the ability to start my 14 hour goal late at night and end it in the morning would be majorly advantageous for myself and many others I’ve spoken with who work over night.

Would a moderator please explain why Fitbit refuses this request? There are plenty of overnight workers that NEED this feature. I cant work with a 12am - 11:59pm time period. I've been having to starve myself and working out 100 minutes every day to work against this uphill battle. It's already enough trying to lose 100 pounds, let's end this stressors already. Please explain why almost everyone ignores overnight workers. I see this with Fitbit, at work, and elsewhere. If there is a technical issue with implementing this versus a philosophical issue, please explain the technical issue. If it is a philosophical issue, remember this is for the sake of the thousands yearning for this change, the option to change could be buried in the device menu and leave 12am as the default standard. If Fitbit wont be supportive of ALL their users, I will need to find another company that does. I've put a lot of investment in Fitbit that I hope you will change your mind and give us the support we need, thank you.

Can you please update a system so all the goals don’t reset at midnight? I work at night and my actual day finishes at 6am while my steps and calories reset a way too early.

I see this has been noted but I really want to drive it home. I work overnight. I want the ability to set the hours of what I call a day. I want to decide the hour of daily reset, hourly move reminders should be able to be modified just the same, my food diary should acknowledge the odd hours I set as my day, etc. The watch would work best for me, as intended, if I could change this setting.

If I go to bed at 3AM I would like my activity between midnight and 3 to count on the previous day. My day does not 'end' at midnight and I would like the option to specifiy when my day begins and ends or end my day when I go to sleep and start my day and reset my counters when I wake up.

I want my steps to be counted on the right days.
