Edit Time of Daily Reset of Stats / Add Nightshift

Hi, It would be great if users could change the daily reset of stats to a different hour. We night owls who go sleep late after midnight now have to calculate the differences in our heads and that's not ideal. Thanks!

I' sure it has been suggested be or but I would lime the fitbit to be graveyard worker friendly. I would like to set my activity hours at 1800 to 0800 as that is my active time 4 days a week, on top of that also have the hourly able to be modified per day so when graveyarders are on their weekend they can have a different set of hours. Thanks for listening

I don't understand why they can't just do an update for this they've just been putting it off for years, how hard could it be to add a start/finish time so that your data doesn't get restarted halfway through your day(night shift).

Another update, another version without this fix.

So I just began working nights from 7pm to 7:30am PST. I absolutely love my fitbit but I figured out there is absolutely no way to change what time your steps restart each day. Other than changing the time zone but that would screw up other things. It would be nice to be able to manually put in reset at 8am PST (my midnight) that way me and everyone on my shift dont have to ackwardly add one night to part of the next morning to find out how many steps we got for the work day. It would especially help for the work week challenges we do! Thanks for the consideration! -Chelsea

I completely agree! I got a fit bit to see how much I walk in one shift and it would be a lot more convient if I could just have it sync to my schedule!

@BrittMiller96 this is what I have done.

At the beginning of the shift I put the tracker in walk mode. At the end of the shift I turn walk mode off. I have had as much as 25k in an 15 hour shift

Current State:

Fitbit software erroneously resets the clock every night at midnight so all your stats go to zero @ that time, regardless of the fact that life continues for many of us past midnight.  We are the workers that keep the world running for those sleeping overnight. Ex: Nurses, Doctors, pilots, factory workers, maintenance, firefighters, military, police, power plant staff, transportation workers, EMTs, Paramedics, etc... the millions of us worldwide that are awake in the hours the 09:00 to 17:00 crowd considers down-time.  Is it that our efforts or activity somehow matter less than others?  Did we get a discount on the product because we only get to track activity from 00:01 onward?  The answer to all this and more is NO we did not.  It is just that the makers of Fitbit do not care about us and our requests and needs for a tracker that covers the times WE are active.  We work at night, and TRY to sleep in the day.

Software updates have come and gone and there has been not resolution or even acknowledgement from the makes of these devices, that have received a pretty penny from us.

Fitbit's user software and tracking algorithms are in error and need a redesign to allow user to see LAST 24 HRS of data NOT just reset the world arbitrarily @ midnight.  As much of this world has to operate through midnight as their active times.

Fitbit HAS KNOWN of this issue for a long time and refuses to acknowledge or address the need of its customers.  I will be moving to GARMIN products after the current Fitbit device fails with time.  There are better devices available and I will be a better informed consumer this time and go with a company that does not ignore its paying customers needs.

See:  https://goo.gl/PWGojd  for Garmin's excellent offerings.  If Fitbit does not listen to its customer WHY be loyal to them?

I agree! I work out after midnight sometimes which adds my calorie burn to the next day. So I end up under my goals for today and over for the next. There's another suggestion like this already started with a lot of votes, you should vote for that one too! 🙂

I agree. I work at a bar and many times do not go to sleeping until 4-5 am

Set my own hours for when a new day begins.  I work evenings so my day doesn't end until after midnight,  usually 1 or 2 am. So tracking food or water is a little frustrating if i have to backdate the last few entries.

I have been a bartender for almost 20 years. My day doesn't end until 4am and restarts around 1pm. It would be awesome if there was a way to set what time I want my fitbit to reset!! Not everyone is on "bankers hours"! Lol!!!

I guess I should have researched this before I bought my Fitbit! Now that I see that it's been an issue for so long and Fitbit ignores it, I may return it. It's pointless if it restarts in the middle of MY day. Very disappointing!!!

Having the day automatically change at midnight with no way to change that option is incredibly irritating and makes it difficult to actually keep track of my food and count calories in accordance with my burned calories, as I can't make sure to exercise by the end of the day if I had something a little more calorie dense or something like that while I'm at work through the night. I've seen people recommend changing the time zone but then I'd completely lose the watch option of the device. If there were even a way to display a specific time zone on the watch maybe after choosing the time zone for the app itself, even that would work. I think many would agree that just a way to make the app reset at a custom time of day for people working atypical hours while allowing the watch to display the time desired would be great.

I also play With Fit U and it allows me to choose either midnight or 3 am as the day change time, so even if you could allow a few different options, like maybe midnight and 6 am to choose from, I think that'd be great and would cover a much wider scope of people at the very least than only allowing a midnight day change. I just know I want to be able to change the date at 6 am every day instead of midnight; the app would be SO much easier to use.

I was just going to submit this same thing! I work from 7pm to 7am in an Emergency Room and hate having to track and add steps to see what I really got during my shift vs home vs gym ect... It would be nice to set my midnight as noon the next day so that I can easily track things.

It would be awesome if fitbit could update the products/app so you can personalize your times like when the data is reset. Since I'm on night shift part way through my night my fitbit resets and I would rather choose a time for it to reset during the day so i can more accurately track my day and I k ow these devices are not the most accurate but it helps a little. I'm sure many people would like a more personalized app since everybody is different.

Hello,

You should not loose your time or try to suggest something to Fitbit, they just don't care and always answer that it could (perhaps) be incoprrated in a future product - but NEVER in the one you own, even if it's a **ahem**ed simple change in software...

If you look at history of forum the most asked things are here since YEARS without being solved!

It is true. They have no regard for their customers. I refuse to purchase
another fit bit product again in my lifetime. It is worthless to me if I
can't adjust my time and their idea of satisfying the customer is a joke.
This gets commented on almost daily yet they can't make a simple change to
the software. It is mind boggling to think this could go ignored for so
long. They have no respect for all the hard working individuals that don't
work your standard 9-5. It is a terrible flaw in the product design
especially since it can't be marketed to everyone. Fireman, police,
docters, nurses, factory employees, night shift wal mart employees, etc...
can't use the Fitbit without their workouts resetting in the middle. They
could benefit so much by adding this feature. it is almost as if they
don't add it just to spite everyone or be in control.

Doing my research before buying  Fitbit.... very disappointed in the lack of addressing the issues brought up for several years for all of us night shift workers, etc with absolutely no updates or solutions.

This may very well be a deal breaker.

I just started a night shift job (10p-5a) and I was hoping to get some pretty nifty stats about my work day. However. As previously mentioned in the LAST 28 pages worth of replies (not to mention the other threads), the lack of a night shift problem is a serious blow to the features.

To Fitbit: don’t give me that “upvote and comment” noise. Just fix the ——ng issue already, it’s been two years, and no one has budged on this. I chose this over an Apple Watch, don’t make me regret it.

Well if one of us night shifters had money Fitbit would lose a lot of sales since the programmers can't do a simple task to make an ok product better
