Fitbit studio for Charge 5 to create clock faces and apps

While the Charge 5 has 23 different clock faces, it doesn't exactly fit what I would like to see, and others from looking at comments.
If a dev could design and publish a clock face for the Charge 5, I think the majority of complaints related to the clock display would be addressed.
Please! Add support for Charge 5 to the Fitbit Studio!

I'm honestly impressed with how terrible ALL 23 clock faces are for the Charge 5. Why is this not included in the fibtbit studio? We will gladly make our own. Or maybe introduce LEGIBLE clock faces. The existing ones seem determined to be unhelpful and confusing (not to mention eye-bleeding with the colors)

How has this not been solved yet in any semi-decent way? It boggles the mind.

Please, if you can't introduce a few minimalist (like the stuff suggested in this thread ages ago already) at least give us the option to fix the problem amongst ourselves.

I totally agree! I would be glad to provide a template.
The current designs are insane.

I agree with many, many people that I'm not crazy about any of the available clock faces on the Fitbit 5. I would prefer that it has the date on one row, the time on one row, and the current steps on another row. It would be spectacular if each wearer could choose one or two of the most important things to them to appear on the face. (steps, heart rate, etc.) I like the color and the ability to better see the screen in sunlight, but I'd really like to have a different clock face. I've been wearing a Fitbit since 2012. Thanks.

I would really like to see a display like kindle's paper white.  It's low power and easy to read in daylight, and has been around for a long time.  As I look to upgrade clock faces which are a lot more professional looking and readable in varying light conditions would be most heavily weighted in making a choice.

I just ordered the Fitbit Charge 5.  I decided to check out the clock faces while I was waiting for it to arrive.  With the exception of the Target face, they are simply terrible.

The Slashed face has the information I want, but with a truly ugly presentation.  Do the minutes really need to be a different color than the hours?  Can we "unslash" the other stats...especially since they seem to intrude somewhat into the time?  If the stats were straightened and the color scheme was less intrusive, this face would have what I need.  Though, not sure what the "17" (to the right of the chevrons) represents.

Who designs these things...a color-blind, ADHD, tween?

ALL of the other faces seem to waste what precious little real estate is available.  NONE of them have anything approaching a sane color scheme.  Seriously, with colors, less is more...at least try staying in the same color family for text.

I heard the display is allegedly brighter.  This is the only selling point for me.  My Charge 3 is useless in daylight.

The Charge 5 seems to be a step sideways.  Apparently, I lose the altimeter, capacitive button, and a tolerable clock face.  The only thing I gain (that I actually care about) is a brighter display.  Hopefully, Fitbit will either hire someone who understands the basics of graphic design or allow the community to contribute sane clock faces.

I wished I knew how to check the faces prior to purchasing. Someone will need to show me this feature before a purchase a new Fitbit product.

Good summary.

It’s quite frustrating. I would like to upgrade to a charge 5 but I just
can’t do it due to the clock faces being so bad.

The Charge 5 clock faces are horrendous. I just got my Charge 5...I may as well go back to my Inspire 2 at this point.
Garmin is truly kicking Fitbit's butt in this area.
These 23 faces looks like they were designed my interns or high school students (or both)

It's too bad, the Charge 5 has a lot of promise....

Wow, I'm really taken aback by how limited and mostly terrible the clock faces are.

I seriously can not recommend the product to anyone else until there are some changes...

If your team is unable to invest the resources in the development of some new, professional-looking clock faces, would you please at least have the courage to provide an API for custom development?

I confirm all the things the other says here in the forum. sadly i have to..

I was looking for a clock faces with the most (for me) important parameter, hearth rate, calories, steps, and a clock. But no one of the given faces give that information on one screen, you have to tap more than once..

And why is it not possible to create some custom faces with fitbit studio??

Please provide some more (and nicer) faces and/or the possibility to create my own clock face.

The charge 5 clock faces all look like an 80s flash dance nightmare. Wish I'd never bought it.

Sort it out.

I'm very please I read this, I was about to buy a Charge 5 but I don't like any of the watch faces. It did not dawn on me that there would not be downloadable faces! Not much point buying one without a decent looking watch face

Uggh. I watched a couple of reviews from when it was first released that the clockfaces were a bit meh but I honestly thought after 6 months, Fitbit would have sorted things out. Sadly not. Honestly there's nothing there that even remotely looks practical for me. As an older person, my eyes aren't what they used to be. I fully accepted the small screen would not be optimal but I did expect that the designs would make full use of what space was available. Personally I would have preferred a smaller time and a bigger font for steps/heartrate/whatever. As someone else mentioned, some people already wear a watch and don't need the time, just the stats. Such a wasted opportunity. Sort it out Fitbit.

Yes it’s terrible which might be ok if they allowed members to mod it.

Luckily I never upgraded to 5 personally because I bought it for someone
else first (sorry for them though … oops 🙊)

But my Fitbit is in desperate need of an upgrade and I want the 5 for size
and battery life but if it’s not fixed soon I’ll be forced to upgrade to
the competition.

I can’t understand the decision making behind this limitation on the 5.

They're never going to go anything about this, the first post was in
October of 2021, and there has been exactly zero acknowledgement since. I
recommend everyone that gets this far to just return it now and save
yourself the trouble.

It appears Fitbit has become totally unresponsive to its customer base. All we get is "thank you for your comments" or "your feedback has been reported to the support team". Never any good answers or actual fixes. The charge 5 was a step backward for me and will probably be the last one I will ever purchase

The "More clock faces for the Charge 5" thread with 845 votes was just locked as "Released", after fitbit shipped ONE. more. ugly. face.

So maybe you guys have the right idea. Either Fitbit has no interest in designing what people want, or they are incapable of it. Either way, an SDK or studio is probably the only hopeless hope left.

In spite of all the benefits Fitbit offers, this whole thing has finally soured me on the brand. At some point, self-respect outweighs all else, and Fitbit's smiling passive aggression is an intolerable trait, to me.

I"m gonna start dating Garmin and see where that leads.

Yep, 100% agree. I monitor this thread for nothing more than morbid
curiosity at this point. I know they don't care, or are somehow too inept
to be able to make it possible. I find it extra hilariously sad that they
released 2 new supremely mediocre faces that are devoid of any information
after all this time.

@LizzyFitbit OP here, I don't know if you have been reviewing this thread, and been keeping up with the voting here, but can you please give these nice customers an update on this?

ANY update would be great...  Are we (nearly 600 of us) just wasting our breath?

Thank you.

Yep… it’s actually pretty sickening. Part of me thinks maybe I’ll just upgrade to a Fitbit sense 2 when that eventually comes out, but the more I think about it the more bitter the taste in my mouth for the brand I have been loyal to for years.

to release yet another awful, must-tap watch face is just salt in the wound. They don’t care - move to Garmin. Vivosmart 5 looks pretty basic but has all of the same features as charge 5, none of which are locked behind a premium paywall. Such a pity

Having a less busy clockface with more pertinent information would be  So welcome.   I am most interested in date,  time, steps,  miles,  heart rate.

@stevefal After 7 plus years with Fitbit, I have done just that. Gone with Garmin. Lack of up updates as to whats up and coming, lackluster updates and Dev for existing product; and now this. A simple option to provide more clock faces or the ability to create our own. They have that ability on other devices, why not here? Seems to me google has zero intention of keeping up the Fitbit brand.

RIP Fitbit!

It was a good run.

I’ve added my 2p worth a while ago asking for the ability to use the dev kit for clock faces, and am amazed at the lack of anything from FitBit - there’s a lot of ‘us’ that are all on board with this idea, but even it it was ‘unfortunately the firmware or processor can’t handle customisations’ - at least it would be something… but nothing… that’s disheartening…

maybe a fresh look at a Garmin might be on the cards … (and, whilst I’m here, anyone noticed the heart rate tracker has gone down hill on the charge 5 ?) 🙂
