Friends Daily/Weekly Step Count on App and graph

I think a welcomed addition to the friends profile across all apps would be the ability to see a friend's daily step count.  This would be useful when "chasing" a friend down.  Smiley Happy

Other user data such as, distance, active minutes, pictures and other information that person has set to share with friends would be nice as well.

Idealy the user would be able to slide through previous days like you can on your personal dashboard view

Depending on your friend's privacy settings you can typically see their step count from their last 30 days.  If you click on their name on the leaderboard, it'll take you to their profile page.  From there you can hover your mouse over a particular day and it'll give you the step count, like this:

I need to keep my brother up and running.

He needs to lose some weight quick.

agreed! Daily steps will keep it more interesting. And also food! Usually we share it on fb pm but life would be easier if we could see all on the app.

It would be nice to add a feature in the next update that allows us to see our Fitbit friend's daily step count. This would be a fun addition to make challenges more interesting.

How do you see it from the mobile app?

@Aprilsomerset, I don't believe that there's a way to do it from the Fitbit App.  Smiley Sad

Yes this would be a big motivator as a day by day rather than the 7 day average

PLEASE add Daily Steps to the Friends page!!! Seems like EVERYONE wants it - so why isn't it being added?  Can someone from FitBit PLEASE respond to this thread and let us know if it's in the works?

Everyone wants this!! It is in multiple posts on facebook and on the community forums! It has been for over a year! We love our fitbits and love the competition with our friends. Please let us see each others daily steps!

There are so many posts on this and Fitbit seems to be ignoring them all. They have the data already. I don't understand why they don't add this to the mobile app. A lot of UP people came to fitbit after the delay and ultimate failed design of the UP3. I really miss the comraderie of daily updates on the mobile app. The earliest feature suggestion I found on this site was December of 2013 and it's still listed as a new idea. So frustrating!

PLEASE get this on the IOS app. It makes it very hard to keep track of the friendly "competition" daily when I have to go to my computer to get any updates. I moved to Fitbit (and had many family members do the same) from the Human App that shows you daily time that a person in your groups has. PLEASE update ASAP! There are plenty of people asked by for this! Thanks

Please do this! I know you can do it by adding them to a challenge, but simply going to their page and seeing this info would be great! It would be nice if we could set what is viewable to friends (all our data). I keep up with a few family members on here and they don't feel like they are "active enough" to be in a challenge. ADD DAILY STEP COUNT TO FRIENDS PAGES PLEASE!!!!!!

Agree! Just swapped using a Up 24 to the Fit bit & feel disappointed that you can't see your friends daily steps. Such a simple feature & how can you challenge your friends & keep motivated??

Hi

I would love to have the ability to look at Friends Exercise log, daily steps and consumption log.

Could the developers implentment these changes.

Thank you

Here's another vote for more flexibility on the Dashboard - I don't just want to see my friends' 7 day totals, I want to see where they're at for the day.

I cannot believe this is not already an option. How am I supposed to compete with friends on a daily basis? Weekly totals/averages means nothing. I mean, if a friend goes on vacation for a week, and especially if they are going to Disney or something, they are going to log a ton of steps - and that will affect the averages for a long time, right?

I was so excited to get my new fitbit for Christmas, and then so let down to find out this is  not a feature.

I was asked to friend my daughter & son-in-law in order to help encourage them. I did so, the weekend was almost over, and started cheering them on thinking they had almost reached their weekly 70k steps only to find out when the weekend passed some of those steps continued to show instead of reset! I then realized it shows the last 7 days not a weekly total! This is confusing and makes it almost impossible to know who needs encouragement! A daily and real weekly total would make more sense for sending cheer/taunts. Cat Very Happy

I agree with all the comments above!  This thread is over a year old and Fitbit still has not figured out how to allowed you to see your friends' Daily Steps and other activities info on the app?  I know you can do this on a desktop but that seems like a big hassle given that most of us are on the go with our smartphones all day.  I just switched from the Up2 device and really enjoyed the daily competition with my husband.  While I like the Fitbit device much better, the app is sorely lacking and really needs to be improved.  Please add this Fitbit!!! Why is it taking so long???

they should add a feature where you can see your friends steps for that specific day instead of only 7-day steps

As the previous poster suggested, I started this thread long ago. Many responders have requested this feature, however, Fitbit has not initiated it nor have they commented on it. It would be nice to hear from Fitbit. Is there any plan for providing this feature, and if not, why not?

So I emailed Fitbit's customer service last week and just got this response today, which completely missed the point of my email, which was to add the "daily steps" feature to its mobile app.  I've already responded to this email to let them know they missed the point of my request.  Lame!!

See their response below:

We are sorry to hear that you are not able to see your friends on your dashboard.

First of all please make sure that the privacy of your friends accounts allow to other people to see steps, activities, etc. Please note that it will show all your friends who have been syncing lately their Fitbits and also they will need to have a tracker paired to their account and if not you are not able to see any data of your friends on your dashboard. If you are still experiencing some issue please provide us with your friends email address associated or linked to Fitbit.com so we can investigate further the issue experienced also we would appreciate if you provide us with more information about the issue experienced.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Diego A and the Fitbit Team
