Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

Thanks for nothing, Fitbit. Sold my device.

See ya, Gastev, JosGustaaf, keldastar, michaelV, eKim, Andyyy, ALeung, katejones, kshultz, PlinySoun, hkrizek, DWStone, BigHaole (keep seeing your username popup on my alerts haha), and all the many many many countless users on here and nameless neglected customers of Fitbit who assuredly could benefit (though they're happy enough) and likely a great percentage who either can't quite put their finger on (but are disappointed with this hunk of rubber) or yet still a large number out there who must know exactly what's missing and are as upset as I am.

What a waste of time and money. No response, customer service? I've had enough. Hello Garmin and Polar. I tried.

Heart rate zone notification would make the charge HR a killer device. Definitely should be top priority for software upgrade.

What kind of company ignores the wishes of it's customers? You can give a "vibration buzz" for reaching 10,000 steps? Big deal. But you are not interested in giving a "vibration buzz" for a high pulse to prevent a heart attack. Where is the huge cost to you? Swap one buzz for another. Is that so hard? You really don't care, do you, Fitbit.

My doctor has advised me to watch my heart rate levels during exercise. I have a maximum level set and I am to avoid going over this level. It would be great if I could set a notification on my Charge HR so that it vibrates when I approach my max level so I can slow down or stop in time to avoid going over the limit. As it is now, have to continuously check my levels while running, skateboarding, biking....it can get tricky. Thanks.

After using the Charge HR for about 3 weeks now, it would be really great to have this feature or hear the change in heart rate zone via audio cues. I can probably get by and make great use out of this device for a while. But when this device breaks or wears out, I will look for a product that can let me easily know HR zone changes without bringing up my wrist and tapping the device.

I really like everything else about Fitbit. The app and useability are great. Just give me this one feature and it would be top notch. Well a few other things too, but this is at the top of the list. Followed shortly by allowing us to adjust the heart rate zones and having the thing be waterproof.

Pulse rate vibration alarm on monitors would be a good idea.   A person could program in the max. and min. heart rate he chose and then have the fitbit vibrate a warning if the pulse rate exceeded or fell below the specified range.   This would be easier than having to physically look at the fitbit (and push buttons to get to pulse rate) while in the middle of a workout, esp. if the workout involved gloves (skiing, etc. in the colder climates).   I would love to be able to get an update to my new ChargerHR so that this feature could exist.     Just my thoughts.     gliderguy.

@gliderguy, the Charge HR allows you to set your own target HR rates, already.  The only think missing is the vibration alarms around it.

Really, Fitbit, why do you continue to ignore this?

Definitely a missing feature!!! Shame shows so much promise but this is key to effective use. Let's face it I don't need to know I've hit 10,000 steps with a vibrant and it's not convenient to tap my wrist to check my heart rate. Change it pls

I kind of presumed it would do this when I bought it. Definitely need it - right now I'm raising my wrist every 20 seconds to check.

Suggest one buzz when entering up or back down into fat-burn, two buzzes when entering cardio, three when entering peak. And four when dropping down to normal out of fat-burn.

Please please please!

+1 to this idea. I am loving my fitbit, but this feature would make it far more useful during workouts. Vibration would be ideal but even just getting an audio notification from the app would be cool.

@jackson27, if you're interested in voice cues (I am as well), you may want to vote for this other feature request:

Exercise Voice Cues include Heart Rate:  https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Requests/Exercise-voice-cues-with-HR/idi-p/686219

I should add, voice cues would be the easiest feature to implement.  The app already has access to realtime data (which it will display if you are not using it to track your run) and voice cues have several other useful data, such as pace.  They just need to add heart rate to the options.

@BigHaole voted. It would be awesome if fitbit just provided an api to allow developers to access real time data straight from the device, rather than through fitbit.com, then we wouldn't need to make feature requests 😛

The heartrate monitor is nothing but a novelty right now, please add this feature.

Let us set a target heartrate range and add 3 different alerts - 1) entering the range, 2) falling out of the range, 3) exceeding the range.

Thanks.

My blood pressure monitor alerts me for irregular heartbeat.  The data is all there, should be an easy implementation, unless there are legal concerns.

I think it would be a good idea to have a way of configuring and choosing a heart rate zone for a particular exercise. Then during your exercise, when your HR goes out of this set zone; the HR equiped devices (Surge,Charge HR and Blaze) would notify you by vibrating on and off until your HR gets back to the chosen zone.

Agree with everyone for a request for a Heart Rate monitor with Audible , Vibration , visual alarms that would not only make it useful but also a purchasing point for buying a fitbit Charge HR.

I purchased a number for friends and family seeing the benefits.

However once we started using them we realised there was a number of features that would add and benefit users. Particularly the Alarms for Heart rate zones and Max heart rate.

The more mature users are particularly keen on having a max heart rate alarm, particularly when doing excercise. We have a group who go mountain biking and we cannot read our fitbit charges on the go. There is a need for an alarm so that we dont push ourselves too hard.

Looking forward to seeing this in a future firmware upgrade.

How to cancel thread notifications on my email? I'm gonna try posting while unticking the "email me option", so ignore this message probably. Hope I can forget this horrible experience.

First off, love my Surge! It helped me train for Detroit Marathon last October (my first marathon).

I really enjoyed the firmware update that introduced vibrating alerts for mile splits which allowed me to just enjoy a run without always looking at the watch. Doing the same for heart rate zone is definitely the one thing I think will further distinguish Surge as a premium fitness tracker. A lot of runners use both splits and heart rate to help determine what adjustments need to be made to pace.

Hopefully something like this can become a reality

Hear rate goal with vibrating alert above a customized threshold. Could you please help us implenting it? Thanks

I received a Fitbit Charge HR and assumedit had range notification  - it seems such a basic function for a heart rate monitor. When will it be added?

SunsetRunner
Not applicable

Having the HR vibrate if your heart rate dropped below a safe level or hits a level which might cause concern whilst asleep. Also to be highlighted in the app if alerts are turned off, with advice to check with a doctor.
