Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

A heart rate alarm would be great. I had open heart surgery three weeks ago which is why I bought a Charge 2. But to be able to alert if my pulse starts to jump beyond a certain point would be very helpful.

I suffer from ME/CFS and as such have purchased this as kind of an 'anti' fitbit, at least so far as they are usually utilised. I need to try and remain within a certain range bpm so a feature which would allow you to set a number at which the device would vibrate when you crossed this threshold would be invaluable. Surely this would be easy to implement.
I know fitbits are traditionally aimed at the fitness market but I honestly think the petsonal health market is unexplored and the data that could be being gathered could help research into conditions like mine in the future.

This should be a standard feature

As with some other commenters, I suffer with a health condition, CFS/ME which means that for a number of potential reasons energy is not converted in the usual way in my body and as a result I get extremely fatigued.  This has a massive strain on the heart, as it has to beat faster to convert energy quickly to supply me with the energy to perform a simple task that it would take a person without CFS/ME not much energy at all.  There is no cure for this condition, but there are ways to manage it.  One way is through pacing and I came across a number of articles recently which suggested that keeping the heart rate below a certain number is a good way to pace and increase function.  This condition can be extremely debilitating and there is not much out there in terms of support when pacing but this is a real way that we can be helped and we can do it ourselves.

I bought my fitbit today on the understanding that it did notify me of heart rate changes.  Whilst I know now that this is not the case (I need to weigh up whether I want to return this item based on false information given or if it in its current state will be helpful to me with some pacing) if I knew that this could potentially be an update further down the line it would ensure that I stay with this line of products.

Interesting to see just how many people in this forum have bought this item for health reasons not related to fitness.

@Cap413 while I agree with you that it's a feature we all need, I also think that if you bought this product without checking first that the features it had were those you wanted, you probably bought the wrong product for your needs...

Just got charge2 because I thought it had this feature. Disappointed. I hope they add as standard soon or will need to look elsewhere

2 years and 22 pages of comments later this is still considered a great idea but nothng appears to have happened. My first Polar watch already had this feature years ago.

When I am training in the cold my arms are covered and checking my pulse the whole time is not practical. Having vibration signals to warn of "pulse is currently above maximum" and "pulse has fallen below minimum" would be VERY VERY USEFUL Smiley Happy

I just cant understand why theyve not done this yet

I too would like my Surge to notify me if I am over a heart rate threshold.
This was a basic feature of my old Polar so it seems strange that the Surge does not support it.

Same very dissapointing to save for a year and have it fall apart (large bubbling/lifting of plastic and cracking on band) after 5 months.
If the lack of respect for even acknowledging customers health/ disability concerns on this forum is any indication, we are not looking forward to the stress of trying to get a refund. Certainly wont be buying a Fitbit again or recommending to any disabled friends. "Garmin" have excellent features and respect their customers from most reports...

Heads up. if its a health and safety issue the shop that  you bought it from must refund  or replace it

Would love to see this feature where user can set a MIN HR and a MAX HR range and fit bit surge gives a alarm when out of range. My Timex HRM has this feature and is very useful,

Like many of the other commenters here. I am trying to stay within a specific heart rate range whilst running. This feature would make my charge2 so much more user friendly than having to check it manually every few minutes mid run. Especially as the screen can be difficult to read in full sun.

I have decided to eBay my surge and get something more serious. The other
issue is most watches have round edges. The large square shoulders tend to
snag on my office shirts.

+1 for HR zone vibration alarms, please help!  Would love to be able to have this feedback without having to try to look at my wrist while running.
