Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

When I had my pacemaker installed, my surgeon told me not to exceed 135 bpm when exercising. It would sure be nice if my Charge HR would vibrate to warn me when I reach (or exceed) that value.

I was 77 when I had my pacemaker installed (Feb, 2015) my surgeon recommended that I not exceed 135 bpm when exercising. It would sure be nice if my Charge HR would vibrate when I reach 135.

Unfortunately not but more frustrating is the total silence from Fitbit

Like many others I will be taking my custom elsewhere when it's time to

Seems that adding vibrations for target heart rates should be a natural capability of the Charge HR 2. Please Fitbit- add this feature.

Agreed. Also interested in this feature!

I do not understand this function (Vibration alerts for heart rate zones). What do you want the much comments? What's the point of it all until strength of vibration alerts very weak on Charge 2? I would like that everyone recommends this function: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Adjustable-length-and-strength-of-vibration-for-... (Adjustable length and strength of vibration for notifications on Charge 2)

Yes, please add a HR zone alarm.  Just had a heart attack 2 weeks ago and need to be warned if heart rate is to high.  This feature would be beneficial for everyone.

Thank You!

This feature would be great

HR zone alarm is a must in the same way as a ringtone for the phone calls. This feature alone would boost sales significantly. When checking fitbit devices in Austrian electronics shops, I ran across at least 3 different customers asking for this particular feature. One of them mentioned that it was all he needed, while accepting to pay for all other unnecessary - for him - features. But without this feature, the device is out of question for many potential buyers, including myself. I'm now sitting on the fence deciding what device to buy with this particular feature and aparently the choice is not there at all. So Fitbit could use this feature as an advantage over some other brands.

This is critical for Primal Endurance. I have to build my aerobic base by staying below my 180 - age heart rate. But, I have to stare at my Blaze to know when that is. There should be an alert!

I infer from the API docs that finer grain than a minute is just not available. So, no alarm, no HRV.

I grudgingly shelled out $43.50 for a Polar H7 heart rate strap to get HRV (another $5 for the Sweetbeat HRV app) and heart rate alarms on my phone. Now, I don't really want heart rate alarms on my phone, I want them on my watch. Is there a way to at least get the Blaze to buzz?

Agreed, please add this feature. It seems rather simple to add, no obvious reasons why it shouldn't be possible.

Hi Fitbit Team,

If you can't add it to the tracker yet, can you at least allow it to connect to the Runkeeper app? Garmin can. I tried pairing it but it can't detect the tracker.

Thank you

Vote +1. This would be an amazing feature to add! Especially for pregnant users as our hr is already elevated (resting around 86-90) and in the fat burning zone when not working out. Dr's usually advise that when we workout to try not to stay above 150-160 for extended periods of time, so a silent alarm would be a great way to monitor this during workouts without constantly looking down!

I got my Charge 2 assuming this would be a feature and although I'm pretty happy overall this is a massive disappointment. I'd be happy with a vibrate each time you move into a new level. Would love it if, for example, there was a buzz when into fat burning, buzz when into cardio, double buzz (or some other variation) when drop back into fat burning etc - should also work in a similar fashion if user has predefined zones

I agree. These would be great features!

This is a really interesting idea, but Fitbit trackers are not intended to provide medical or scientific data.

Dear FitBit community team,

This suggestion is 8th most popular suggestion (according to votes) and hasn't been implemented in 2 years. Since there are vibrating notifications (I have been using Surge for 2 years now so I am basing my observations on features that Surge has, I am not sure if this applies to all other trackers) for each mile you finish (while running), and other notifications that work all the time (like passing your daily step goal) there is no reason why this can't be done for switching heart rate zones, something simple like one long buzz when you go up a heart rate zone and 3 short ones when you go down one should suffice (it can even be user configurable, given that different vibrating notifications already exist. e.g. passing your daily step goal gives you series of vibrations, while passing a mile marker gives one short buzz). It doesn't even have to be that complex, it can be implemented to only work with custom heart rate zones with similar notifications for when you go under your lower limit of custom zone and when you go above upper limit. And a good start would be to just add it while any sort of activity is in progress (running, walking, cycling, etc.) and later, if possible add the option to use it in non activity mode.

This is very useful for people who are doing any sort of heart rate guided training (orange theory, trying to run in specific heart rate zone, etc). If you are asking yourself "why can't we just look at the tracker to check", most of the time we can, but if you are exercising in cold weather (running or especially cycling) and wearing long sleeve shirt or jacket it is very hard to keep checking your watch, especially surge which is bulky and has to be worn higher in order to give better accuracy (I am sure that there are many other valid use cases when looking at your tracker is hard or inconveniet). This is why vibrating cues can be very useful.

I hope that any of you can respond to this post and give at least some update on this feature, I am sure that the entire community will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Nikola
