Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

Perhaps the company being unwilling to listen to their consumer base and provide features that their base desires factors into this...

If other companies fitness watches are providing better features at the same price point, it's basic economics...

I would like to see a customizable HR alarm and for various times of the day. For example, I just want notified at night (2200-0500)  if my HR goes high since I usually get tachycardic when my blood sugar goes low. Obviously we would not expect fitbit to carry any liability but a customizable alarm feature would be great! Thanks!

Surely this feaure needs to be considered for a near future development, it is such a no brainer!

I would imagine this would not be difficult to implement, and it would provide a huge amount of value to fitbit users!

It would be nice to have an option to alert you if your heart rate drops to a different zone.

E.g. If I'm doing cardio and am trying to stay in the cardio heart rate zone im constantly checking my fit bit to see what zone I'm in.   It would be awesome if it would just give me a buzz if I fall from cardio to fat burn zone.

The request for the heart rate alarm by vibration has been around for quite a while - it is the one that I found and voted for as soon as I started using Charge HR almost 2 years ago. Nothing happened since then neither in Charge HR nor in Charge 2.

Now I see that the number of votes is just 6 - Fitbit will never have a look at it.

I would love it if I could set my Fitbit to vibrate when I reach a particular heart rate.  This would help during recovery runs and tempo runs.  Then I wouldn't have to look at my wrist and push buttons so much while running.  Thank you for your consideration.  I would be nice if this was a software update so I wouldn't have to buy another new Fitbit.

Come on Fitbit this needs to be added the request was started 3 years ago this could also be potentially life saving as well. Step up your game!

this could also be potentially life saving

I've come around to the view that it would be more likely to be life-threatening. I was out running the other day and fitbit registered 144. I pulled my phone out to restart the HRMonitor App, and the chest strap had me at 119. The FitBit has a heart rate pretty close to the chest strap when I'm resting, and pretty frequently when I'm running, and it keeps tricking me into thinking it's accurate.

If I were FitBit, I really wouldn't want anyone using my unpredictable and inconsistent heart rate values to reduce the likelihood of any life threatening events.

It be nice for a future software enhancement of the new surge and charge HR to use the vibration alerts in conjunction with the heart rate zones to notify me whether I am in or out of my target heart rate zone without having to look at the screen.

I.E. Rapid pulsed vibrations to notify me to increase and slow pulses to notify me to reduce my workout intensity or slow pulses to tell me to reduce and rapid pulses to increase my heart rate (configurable depending on your logic or what best makes sense to the user).

Not reduce but say you were sleeping and heart rate suddenly skyrockets to 200+ or falls down below your normal resting heart rate let's say10% lower  if you could set up the min and max this could alert you.

Also so I haven't looked at the data for heart attacks but from personal experiences from my family members and other people all the heart attacks have happened while they were doing light duty work around the house or while simply lounging around

As HIIT is so popular and there are so many variations (like 3 minutes on, 1 minute off repeat 9 (or more) times) it seems like adding features for people to better track these work out would be great for FitBit.

Several posts requested auto buzz after certain variable time segments.

Others associated heart rates to time length to alerts.

Also what about auto tracking an excercise if it's less than 10 minutes?

I am not a HIIT specialist but my guess is FitBit has access to many specialists who could provide feature suggestions to assist with these types of work-outs thus making the FitBit a more "sticky" product to people who do these types of workouts.

It would be good to be able to activate a feature which notifies you by vibrating and possibly an on screen picture too, that you have entered a new heart rate zone when exercising. Ie 1 vibration for Fat burning zone......2 vibrates for aerobic zone...3 vibrations for anaerobic zone. Thanks

I think this is a great suggestion - would be great to actually know in the moment which HR zone you're in. That way it's not a passive thing that you review after your workout is finished. A simple three-buzz system would work, with three short buzzes being the Peak HR Zone. Would make you push (within reason) each workout.

this is a great idea for people doing HR zone training.

Fitibit can be connected to IFTTT.

Is it possiblt that IFTT can have access to fitbit HR data. So we can make our own notifications!

Just looked at the app there is no heart rate trigger in there .

Agreed.  I need the max HR alarm to avoid going over my max HR, getting overtired/burned out, and losing interest.

As someone just starting to exercise after years of gelatinizing behind a desk, I just want to make it as easy as possible to run without needing to constantly check my HR (or worse yet scroll through menus when I'm running).  I'll take every advantage I can get.

... Just noticed how old this thread is but still no max HR alarm.  C'mon Fitbit! A lot of people like it.

I too want this feature

I agree. I would like to be able to set a specific HR range that I want to be in during exercise. If I tell the fitbit that I am exercising, it knows that I want to stay in that zone. If I drop too low - it buzz's me one long buzz. If I get over my target, three short buzzes.

+1 i think fitbit charge2 hasnt make sense without this very basic feature

I would very much like this.  Keeping yourself in your optimal range is key and not knowing when you have left that is annoying.  Many would like to know when they are over exerting themselves as well.

This would be great on the Blaze too

having undergone coronary bypass surgury some 7 months ago my cardiologist has insisted that my heart rate not exceed 152. this is extremely hard and somewhat dangerous to monitor will navigating outdoor routes. I feel that the inclusion of an adjustable heart rate excedance alarm will be a critical requirement in my next purchase of my next fitness movie.

Same here . except I'm only safe to go up to 140

I really think Fitbit is refusing to add this feature because people are wanting to use it like a medical device and they think the risk factor for being sued is too great. I could really use this just as a general warning alert so that I would then accurately check my heart rate from a medical perspective. Maybe if we stop telling them we need it for medical reasons, they might consider adding it.

Whatever the reason it's clear fitbit do not care what the general public think or want.
