Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

I have just received my Ionic.  I run every day as I have done for the last 22 years.  My previous Polar HR monitor watch was set up to warn me of my impending heart death.

I would like my Ionic to do the same, either by sound or vibration.  according to it, I can reach 206 BPM without too much trouble, and every run with the Ionic so far has me over 190.  According to "the formula" - 220 BPM - your age = 158 in my case.  This indicates that I am beating well above the suggested rate.  So an alert would be be of great benefit to me.

It would be great if your max and minimum heart rate for the day was automatically displayed on the dashboard!  I have my watch b/c of an issue with tachycardia.  If my heart rate measured 140bpm for 2 minutes and then I sit down and get it to 95bpm for the next 3 minutes, it will show an avg of 113bpm, no where near the 140bpm which it reached!!  Please allow for this function on the dashboard, just to show the min & max for the day!  As well, the min is not the resting HR as I read from one moderator!!  The example of that would be that it shows my 5 min avg min to be 75bpm, yet my resting HR is showing to be 86bpm.  Thank you!!!

I would also like it if when using headphones with your watch, audio cues could play.

Hello SHGrade.  I haven't tried adding music or using wireless headphones to my Ionic.  But your audio cues idea does sound like a good one.  Regards.

I vote yes for the vibrating heart rate alert feature.  I would find it useful as an alarm so that it is always functional (i.e. not just during declared exercise sessions).  one should also be able to adjust it to alert a sudden increase in bpm, if it could auto-start the "relax" app that would be perfect!

I'd love to have this feature!!

Audio feedback through the app would be good too. Like the pace and distance alerts.

Please add a heart max rate alarm to the Fitbit Charge 2.  It should be relatively simple and for people with arrhythmia it could be a lifesaver.

And for people training, this should help them keep in the max benefit zone.  Audible alarm please - saves have to look while running.

Surely you have had enough feedback by now.  This suggestion has been open for years now.

This is a simple if then logic that you need to incorporate in your code. When a heart reach max, vibrate or sound.

Hi all, thanks for this suggestion and comments. This is still under consideration although I don't currently have a timeline for you. Please watch this space for updates.

This isn't the full functionality you're asking for, but please note that Fitbit Ionic does show you progress toward your maximum heart rate on an indicator next to the number of beats per minute, during exercise. You can read more about this in this help article.

Hi.
I would like that feature as well. But I get such wildly divergent HR readings on my Charge 2 I don't know how much good a warning feature would do me.

This thread is four years old, so I have little expectation that it is being seen much less turned into coding mods.

But I too feel that without a heart rate alarm, much of the charge2 value is lost.

Bears repeating: they could get rid of a lot of other features to make room for HR alerts, improved HR accuracy.

Yes please.

I definitely agree with this. Would be great for people with cardiac conditions such as Afib arrhythmias. We switched from the Apple Watch to the Ionic because of the more stable heart rate monitor and the only thing we're missing that we enjoyed on the Apple Watch was the elevated heart rate notification.

I completely agree, seems ridiculous that they have the heartrate feature but no alarms of any sort to let you know about them.

Yes, I agree with this.

Vibration (notificitaion) after reaching i.e. HR level 100bpm etc.

I think this would be a good idea if it were on the charge 2!

I know a lot of people who have Fitbits (mostly Charge HRs) because of their heart problems, this would be very helpful if all HR Fitbits were updated with this!!!!

Agree totally, though for me I'd like warning when I'm pushing myself to hard, which I'm prone to do, not such a good idea as I marked 67 last month.

Please make the heart rate more accurate during higher intensity ... please.

Heart rate alert is an awesome idea to help keep me in the recommended zone when running.
